Rick Prime's reference to Rick moving into his house is accurate. When our Rick gave up searching for him, he settled on finding Rick Prime's original family. The Smith family that we started the series with? That Beth was Prime's daughter, and that Morty and Summer were Prime's grandchildren. Now, our Morty is his last surviving family.
There was some additional context that was provided by this episode. Prime confirmed that only two Ricks created interdimensional travel on their own: Rick Prime, and our Rick, Rick C-137. This confirms that other Ricks who attained it took Prime's deal where C-137 refused, and received the secret to portal travel from him. Then C-137 consolidated things by helping to build the original Citadel of Ricks.
Because of this context, Rick Prime can be seen as the "Original" Rick - that's likely where his tag of "Prime" comes from - and our Rick is the only one who is his equal in intelligence. Rick Prime is _the_ "Rickest Rick", and C-137 is just a few steps behind him. This also means that our Morty can be seen as the "original" Morty, or the "Mortiest Morty".

Ill say one other piece of continuity is how unity was right that rick would die if he confronts rick prime. Its only because evil morty bailed him out and then revived him that he got to survive. And even evil morty only won because he was able to take advantage of the way ricks dont view morties as a threat.

@@nullakjg767 On the topic of Unity, I wonder if Rick's attraction to hiveminds and solar bodies is the result of a pragmatic self-defense against the erasure weapon. After all, unless the hivemind is erased to the last body, it will survive multiversal death.
On the other hand, one sure fire way for him to kill Rick Prime would have been to throw himself into the erasure weapon. He would die, sure, but so would Prime.

The irony is that Rick Prime didn't want to be the only Rick who abandoned his family, so he went out of his way to make other Ricks just like him, to prove he wasn't the only one. Then he met our Rick, probably the very first who refused his offer, proving that he was better than Rick Prime. And because he couldn't stand the thought of one being better than him, he killed Beth and Diane to turn him into... well, him.

So our og Rick went to Rick primes dimension and crashed into Rick primes house and took over as their Rick meaning our Morty is Rick primes Morty adopted by og Rick cause Rick prime abandoned the smiths. If I remember right they explained about a season or 2 ago that Rick Prime is actually our main Morty's original grandfather. Rick c-137 (our main Rick) traveled to a dimension where a morty didn't have a Rick and took over his life after Rick Prime left. C-137 (Main Rick) didn't have a family because Rick Prime killed his family so he didn't have a Morty at all

Guessing the implication is that Prime Rick figured out portal technology and left his family. He went on to kill the family of other portal capable Ricks. That the “main” Rick in searching for Prime found his family and posed as their Rick in hopes to flush out Prime.
So the question is now that Prime is dead will Main Rick stay with the family of the man who killed his family?

  • @vert2552
    @vert2552 Год назад

Oh boy there is so much to unpack here ;P
This episode was really something else. Rick & Morty was already different from anything out there but this very episode elevated it to another level (and kinda hurst me seeing people ending their opinion with 'the episode was nice' ;P )
Just will leave it here from previous episode with Evil Morty which was already huge and amazing plot (but it is a different experience when you binge watch episodes and you watched the seasons as they came up and actually engage the community, theorize, look for all the details). Community was the first to call him "Evil Morty" and show later picked it up. There were various ideas from this is actually young version of Rick, or he is simply evil and smarter than Rick, wanting to kill everyone etc. But as the episode showed, Rick was the one to build 'the curve' and as well as build whole Citadel, even engage into "Morty breeding" (as making sure Beth and Jerry will meet in every timeline). All "Evil Morty" did was being smart enough to think for himself, to be fed up with Rick and wanting to free himself. All that made him being EVIL was a need for freedom from Rick's bullshit. (Also important note as it seems it might need to be said, it has nothing to do with Prime Rick, it's completly different story line)
What we basicly learned is whole psychology behind Rick himself. It was already stated that "our" Rick and "Prime Rick" were the only Ricks that despite being smartest (in the curve, where he was the smartest man, still only 2 of them were able to invent the portal gun), "Prime Rick" did not care about anything, he left his wife and daughter and never came back. He seemed to be ultimate Rick, and at least that's what he believed. What really made him crazy is meeting with 'our' Rick. The Rick that refused to be 'the smartest', the tech, all becase he has chosen his family, his wife and daughter over anything else, over anything that offered Prime Rick, one that believed in superiority and worth of only the tech he had, the only value he saw.
Prime Rick was so petty, had a need to be the smartest, the most superior one, even compared to every other Rick, that he killed of wifes/daughters of other Ricks, including 'our' Ricks' family. He needed to be better or should i say have none other Ricks be better than him. I feel like the Prime Rick might have been actually jealous of other Ricks being able to feel attachment and emotions, that they could care about anything else, about... anything. And that's how every Rick who gave up for sake of his wife, his family, had no right to be alive thus killing what he loved was going to make them follow the route of Prime Rick, becuase in that very space, he was already ahead, being the rickest Rick.
And maybe this is also why Evil Morty said it was called "Rick's experiment", perhaps Prime Rick's goal was to feel superior, but also to see if every other Rick capable of 'feeling' can do better than him/can achive something not only despite the attachment, but perhaps even THANKS TO attachments to his family. As Evil Morty has all the knowledge, we might get some answer in the future, but we all know for (prime) Rick, ultimately it was all a game.
Going back another important fact that might need explaining is that the whole curve was created because Prime Rick called himself the smartest man, the smartest Rick when meeting our Rick, that's also why our Rick created the Curve to close off his reality, his world, but also "smartest Rick" inside to curve, same goal was in creating the Citadel, to unite Ricks and have control over Ricks but making sure those were not 'rickest Ricks'.
After that our Rick literally took place of Prime Rick in his reality, most likely with pure goal of waiting for Prime Rick to come back some day to his family...but that never happend and actually the world was destroyed (cronenberg world, to avoid any doubts, 'our' Morty and Prime Morty came from same reality)
Also adding. Genius of Evil Morty is awesome story too, he is not 'smarter' than Rick, but after long time of fighting the very same man that closed him off, that captured him, he was able to obtain the knowledge that allowed him to outsmart Rick.
Also about the place he went after going outside the curve. That's the whole thing. Outside curve, Rick isn't the smartest person. Portal travel isn't ONLY a Rick's thing. Like with the Jettsons, it clearly showed in various realities they were able to obtain the portal tech and they were teleporting to the same place. That's why the place looked like that, because in universe where everyone is smart, noone really is, and portal tech being so... common? The world will look like that. It was even in one of the fairly recent episodes, imagine what happens to worlds where Rick & Morty visits, now imagine what happens to universe where many have the tech, have ability to jump between timelines/realities, meaning non of them really matters. Total chaos, and that's what that whole scene showed. Thousands of different portals wherever you look. The Jettson scene literally showed that. Pure writing genius.
It is very crazy if you think about the fact that whole show was trying to tell us that Rick cares about no rules, but at the same time we followed the only universe, where we strictly followed Rick's own rules
I hope this wall of text is helpful, or at least in any dose enjoyable to anyone :P

Remember the totally fabricated origin story Rick showed the Federation so he could escape prison, it turns out the only thing Rick made up is the math.
Rick Prime went to dimension C-137 and offered our Rick the secrets of inter-dimensional travel. When Rick C-137 refused, Rick Prime killed the Diane and Beth of C-137 with a bomb.
I was wondering why Rick Prime reacted so strongly to Rick C-137’s refusal until this episode, when the Rick’s are trapped he says, “you’re me, but you acted like you were better, so I killed your beloved Diane.” While it’s a prerecorded message and it’s played for every Rick in the trap, it seems specific to Rick C-137.
Rick C-137 spent the next few decades trying to hunt down Rick Prime but was unsuccessful. He eventually decided to hunker down in Rick Prime’s dimension and wait to see if he ever came back, but Rick Prime doesn’t give a shit about his family so he never does.
Rick C-137 then cronenbergs the world by mistake and takes Morty Prime with him to settle in a new dimension while abandoning Beth, Jerry and Summer Prime.
In the episode Solaricks when all portal travelers are reset back to their home dimension, remember who gets sent where. Morty gets sent back to cronenberg world. Rick gets sent to an empty house with a crater in the garage floor. Prime is sent to the cronenberg world, just like Morty. That’s why he called him “original grandson.”

Recap for all the relevant details since you seem confused (most of this revealed in S5's finale and S6 premiere)
Our rick invented teleportation in his own dimension, at least on earth, then Prime showed him that he could use dimensional travel instead, Rick denied him, Prime killed his wife and daughter (which we find in this episode he killed EVERY Rick's wife using the Omega device, but not every rick's daughter since it could only be used once at the time) then our Rick ACTUALLY invented interdimensional travel (which we find out this episode he's the only rick other than prime to actually do this) went on a whole revenge path looking for him, killing many other ricks until they made peace and created the citadel. Afterwards, our rick crashed in another reality where beth was alive and began living with her. Which reality specifically? C-137, Prime's original reality. He stayed there hoping Prime would show up one day, meaning Our Morty is Morty Prime (hence why he called Morty "original grandson" and said to rick "You lived in my house" because that's exactly what happened). Since then, both our rick and Morty hopped realities twice (three times if you count the morty mindblower flashback but it's tough to say if this is canon unless the flashback happened prior to the episode when our jerry got mixed up with another one) the first time being when Morty and Rick ruined C-137 by trying to make a love potion turning everyone to cronenburgs, and second time being the S6 premiere when Season 2 Jerry let out Mr Frundles and the whole earth became Mr Frundles, making the whole family including Space Beth hop to a new reality where they pronounce Parmesan as "Parmeesian"
So yeah the stuff Prime was saying to Rick weren't new revelations or anything, this stuff was talked about already
