Thanks for the video. I had a question about paper clay, If I make a mug out of it can I use it for drinking after firing it? just like a mug made with conventional clay.
Hi! I made a sculpture in stoneware paperclay but when firing it the second time; glazing, it got small cracks. Maybe it was to much stress on the clay to fire up to 1200' C? How can I avoid cracks? No i am afraid to refire my sculptures.
Hi Deannak, The difference is the medium, Paperclay contains cellulose. That makes a difference in handling etc. Firings are the same as conventional clay 😊

Helped me a lot may ask you something can we use any paper clay ?????
Yes, any paper clay - commercially prepared or home made :-)
May I ask what kind of paper clay did you use? I am not aware that they can be kiln fired...
Hi Didi,
I use a Spanish paper clay. Yes it has to be kiln fired, just like conventional clay :-)
In addition to your beautiful bowls, did you make the mosaic chair you were both sitting on at the beginning of this video?
K Cummings
Thank you, yes Gus and I have created a number of Mosaic Sofa’s and Chairs 😀
I dont know what the difference was. No mention of firing temperatures or any different treatment for paper clay than regular clay
