Maybe you’ve noticed that I finish each of my RUclips videos with the phrase:
“Let’s keep learning to trust our ears.”
But if you’re anything like me, at some point you’ve probably also thought that that’s really dumb advice.
What does “trusting your ears” even mean!??
Because if you just throw caution in the wind and blindly follow your gut…
    Well..
I’m sure we’ve all experienced just how badly that can turn out.
So how do you make sure you focus on the RIGHT things when learning to trust your ears, and you don’t end up in another pit of despair?
Actually it all has to do with refining your taste in music. To a really absurd level.
Let me show you what I mean in this week’s video.

Here’s something I say every day to my (cello) students, trust your ears, while wondering exactly what that means. Actually in the acoustic realm it is in a way a more straightforward process. Lovely definitions, very inspiring, thanks.

Great video as always! I'm also a huge fan Gregory Scott's channel. Such a great way to think about mixing and music on general.

I would love if you made a video on what “measurement” curve is acceptable for you? It can be hard to know if your room sounds good even after you have put up panels and used Sonarworks.

Hello, I would like to ask you for your opinion about 2-way vs 3-way active monitors. Are 3-ways always better because of midrange unit and had they always lower IMD, or it’s all about construction, quality and engineering and some 2-ways can be better for smaller rooms? If we can live without lowest octave of course. 🤓 For example Neumann KH150 which measures excellent.
