I’m a recovering addict myself man and the shows definitely help take your mind to a different place. Was a heroin addict for the better part of ten years and then picked up a benzo habit while on methadone. I kicked the benzos two months ago but it hasn’t been easy especially with my mental health problems. Alcohol is nasty stuff man you got this!!

as a mixed-race black woman, i've had the privilege of having never experienced racism towards me other than covert/subtle racism that stemmed from ignorance rather than hate... but i know that my four little brothers live a VERY different reality. i know that it doesn't take much for my little brothers to be seen as dangerous or "scary" to strangers, which breaks my heart to the core. one of the hardest conversations i've ever had was with my youngest brother when my mom and i told him that he had to be careful walking through his own neighborhood, an upper-middle class neighborhood where he's lived for the last 22 years, because the neighbors might call the police on him, just like the neighbors called the police on our dad when he was jogging. Thank you Steezus for sharing your voice.

Me being a white man raising two black daughters, it can be hard to talk about the hard scary truths. But your words truely make me feel stronger, and brought me to tears. Just wanna share what it means to me.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour, and I was pretty lethargic and ill for a long time - I couldn't move a lot and I definitely couldn't skate. The tumour affects my left hand side muscles. I cannot lift my left arm properly and the muscles on that side atrophed and won't properly redevelop, so skating is really, really difficult.
Twice a week you guys have given me something to look forward to and kept people like me in the loop with skateboarding, and the format of the show makes it feel as though you're hanging around with friends. Being ill and unable to do the things you love is a lonely experience, so I want to say a massive thank you for being what I consider friends during a difficult time.
Inspired by you guys, I still try and skate when I can. Without you guys I may have despaired a long time ago.

Thank you Steezus and thank you Nine Club. For real. I swear skateboarding is one of the greatest cultures. I don't know of a greater community that can be so open, friendly, chill, challenging and inclusive while still allowing you to do your own thing. Steezus' piece was beautiful and I'm glad he has this platform to get our message out. Black lives matter, let's make all lives better.

What Roger said about passing on skating: I've been skating 35 years, but I've also been a freediver for many of those years. A friend of mine who makes carbon fiber fins, came up with a program to that same thing, but with diving. He gave out fins to all his diver friends and told us to wear them and pass them on. We've all done so, and have put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces, especially when we travel... Great idea. You guys should do it.

@steezuschrist I SAY AGAIN , THAT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SPEECH I'VE HEARD SINCE NESLON MANDELA ADRESSING THE A.N.C. & MLK's " I HAVE A DREAM I would like to tell you a story of survival about my father being born and raised in Durban South Africa PLEASE BARE WITH ME , my father's best friend growing up in South Africa was Zulu and as my father was a white man with a Zulu (in north american culture "black") best friend who he surfed with , who would risked his life by going into the black township's of Durban South Africa to hang with his best friend and to listen to African Jazz . When he was 27 he was forced to leave his home country because the aparteid government found out his best friend was Zulu , so he packed up to leave the country he loved and was born in , who also fought through some of the toughest racial violence to save his best friends life by being forced to leave , so at 27 he moved here to Canada . quick side note I looked up to my father like a god , and also cuz we had the same b-day , I was born on my father's birthday THANK YOU STEEZUS FOR THAT HONOURABLE , MOVING SPEECH I will never forget the day I listened to you give one of the most important from the hart statment's our generation has ever heard

I had always seen the videos recommended on my youtube feed but since I thought it was something to do with street league, I didnt give it the chance that it definitely deserved. I shared this episode with several friends who arent even skaters and had them listen to what you had to say. True heart and conviction and I know there was a lot of pain in what you had to say...and I for one will never be able to express fully what this all meant to me.
