- Here's my live cover giving tribute to the dance classic by Darude!
Thanks for your reactions to my short preview video - like, subscribe and comment for more dance and trance stuff in the future!
... and NO, I did not just put the original track on and played some keys over it. ;) However I did try to stay as close as possible to the original.
The lead sound and the strings were played live - other instruments and the beat were produced and recreated note for note in cubase - from scratch! Except for some drum samples and effects, that I sampled from the original recording.
Volume of the strings in the left hand is controlled by a volume pedal. The right hand uses two keyzones with the same notes to make the fast melody easier to play.
The synthesizer in this clip is a Korg Radias, if you're wondering. Though, it actually doesn't matter, coz it's only used as a MIDI keyboard. There are no sounds used by the Radias for this one, though it acts nicely as a "Lichtorgel". ;)

I honestly thought this video was fake until I analyzed the sound wave of the original song and this cover. The sounds are exactly the same, congratulations!
Hah, you sure did your homework. :) The similarity of the audio signal is actually causing a problem with RUclips's content ID. XD

I can confirm he is playing the correct chords in original song key Em, Am, G, D, Em. And regarding the comments of playing the keys in the same note - this model can be programmed to assign any key to any note

I'm trying to play this with a toy piano! Yamaha PSS A50. I'm using the onboard Arpeggiator to do that fast fingering. Your skills are fantastic!

Oh thanks, I didn't use any Arturia Analog software. This one has rather "digital" sound requirements than needing to emulate vintage synths.

How do you get the same note on two different keys?
This is achieved by using different keyzones and transposing. One could also use samples and map them/ copy them in a certain way.

I don't have a kronos. I did the 909 drum sounds myself and some are samples from the record. The instruments came from different VSTs or samples.

Funny enough, I listened to this one by accident lately. I noticed there is some similarity with the fast lead sound, if you compare it to Sandstorm. ;)

how do you make the same note on different keys in the lead sequence?
There are several ways: If you use a hardware workstation or synth, it can be done with key zones/multiple layers. Create another key zone and transpose it to the notes you need. You could also use a sampler and for example put the note "C" on whichever key you want and assign the needed key range. That way you can basically have any note on any key that you want.

What type of synth are you using ❤
It's a Korg Radias, but that was not the audio source. I used mostly samples and a few VSTs. Nohing special actually. Mostly just Saw/Supersaw sounds.

That lead sound is not a saw wave. It is a distorted digital waveform, with many harmonics.
