I've been pushing that dang button for 56 years. Thank you and please don't tell my wife that there was really nothing wrong with all those grease guns I threw in the trash.
I just bought the dewalt. So glad i watched this first. Btw, this is one of the best tutorials ive ever seen for anything. You didn't assume people knew anything walking into it and explained each step. A true teacher. Well done sir.
Thanks Jeff. Been fighting and blaming non-electric grease guns for 50 years! First time some of those small details were explained to me that made sense like you did. THANKS 🤠 Paul
Im a 23 year old young lady who has no knowledge of mechanical tools but this video made it so simple to figure out how to pump the grease. Thank you so much
Jeff, I have to say that I have had many people ask me questions about this grease gun and I have NEVER had this question answered as well, or so well, as your explanation. While I do not work for Dewalt, absolutely no one has explained in such detail how to use this tool. I commend you highly and will subscribe to your channel. As an aside, I can remember my father, when I was a child, adding grease to our old 1938 tractors on the farm and he would have loved to have had such a tool. You have done great service to Dewalt and explained a lot to their customers.
+Barney Ross Self. Thanks for the kind words Barney! My name is actually Dennis, I made the video for a guy named Jeff, welcome to my channel I hope you enjoy what I do here which is mostly operate farm and construction equipment.
I know that I'm really late to this party but I thank you for this video. I'm 73 years old and never knew this. Most senior citizens are not on a fixed income we are on a broken income so I have a pneumatic grease gun from Harbor Freight but I must tell you that you made this old man's day a lot better. I need to put a new grease cartridge in my grease gun to grease my tractor. I thank you. God bless and have a great day.
I learned that technique in the early 70's working B-52's . we used modified grease guns as a htdraulic pump using grease to pump in bomb rack lock pins
Buddy I just bought a DeWalt and for the life of me I couldn’t get it to work. I’ll be honest I passed your video up because I felt you were long winded. My mistake!!! Thank you this video saved me from taking a sledgehammer to it. Works perfectly now.
Best video I've ever seen concerning grease gun set-up and bleeding. I was debating to buy the DeWalt but the videos I watched before your's made it seem too complicated. Now I have full confidence, so thanks for posting!
I had to resort to a grinder wheel to open up the hole to get my flexible tube in my Lucas Mini. Then it was doing exactly the symptoms that you've demonstrated and troubleshot. How did I get to be this age and not know about grease guns thank God for great people like you and RUclips
I just bought a tractor and the Dewalt grease gun. I really appreciate all the great people on YT, like yourself, sharing their knowledge. It helps minimize the learning curve for a novice like myself.
My God, I've been greasing my tractor for the past 5 years and dreading it every time for the mess I would make trying to prime the damn thing. Thank you so much.
Your explanation is the only one that has worked for me. Most people explain the parts that everyone probably already knows, and skip the important parts. You did the opposite, thank you.
Thank you good sir!! I owe you a beer or something!! I just got a new grease gun, and I followed instructions, online instructions, other videos.... an hour later... found your video... IT WORKS!!! Time to go grease up my trailer!! Thanks again!!!
Awesome video I have the same grease gun and I’ve struggled with it until now I don’t know what you do for a living but it seems you would naturally make a good teacher or instructor thank you for the video
Thank you Sir for the information. I’m new to grease guns and needed to grease my 5th wheel hitch for the first time. I literally spent half an hour trying to get it to work. Had me baffled and frustrated. Watched a couple of videos, nothing. Found your video and success on the first try. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this great video. God bless you.
Hey man. Make no apologies for knowing what you k,ow. Ive have been teaching employees for years how to load grease guns and Ive been wrong for years. Can't tell you how helpful this was. I grease everything after my work day and hated fighting with the gun loading. This was very helpful. Thanks brother. God bless America and her wonderful citizens. Be safe and healthy!
THANK YOU!!! I watched another video on this and that guy was doing it all wrong. No wonder I was having so much trouble. Thank you for excellent explanation of how the Dewalt gun works. I heading out right now to use my grease gun the RIGHT way.
Thank you. I'm an aircraft Technician and I recently bought the Lincoln 12V. I dont need that much power. That bleeding method of yours will save my night. I had to stop using my cordless gun today and use the hand pump one just because I couldn't get rid of those bubbles.
Just to let you know, I kept bleeding the gun several times and finally I was able to pull the plunger out and lock it in place. It had about 1.5 " of old grease in it. Replaced with a new tube and now everything is working. Whew! Thanks again.
I didn’t know anything you just showed here. I was still struggling with that useless vent screw on the top of the grease gun. That’s why I searched for this video. Thanks.👍🏻
Brother you just saved me some headache. Ive loosened the tube on regular hand crank pumps and pushed the plunger in and it works on them. But I have fought with this new Lincoln battery powered gun for 3 hours until I seen this video. Didnt know I could push on the grease that way and it works. THANK YOU SIR!!
I just used my 20v dewalt grease gun for the 1st time. I got thru 1 tube and had no problems then and ran into exactly what you said. Thank you very much for helping explain what to do. I thought I was going to break it by following their instructions dewalt gave
I've been frustrated by my Dewalt grease gun in that I was unable to get the thing working until I watched this video 4 times. I'm going to save this video for when I forget and begin to set-ff on the road to frustration. Thank you!!
I've got a Lincoln 12V. grease gun that works great around my shop. The battery last for 1-1.5 grease catriges depending the temperature. Yes, your presentation is how I do it but did it differently for years. I like your way much better.
Amazing! I own that exact desalt grease gun and I absolutely HATE! Reloading the grease when it runs out because I had no clue what the tricks were to properly bleed the air. I just tried your method and it was 100% successful on the first attempt. Thank you very much for your video
Just a hands down great video. I thought (my first mistake) that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to use a grease gun! Well, it doesn't. It takes someone who isn't too proud to watch a video about a subject he thought he had mastered 40+ years ago. Thanks again Dennis for a enjoyable lesson.
Great video! I’m a woman who likes to work on my vehicles. Tips and techniques like yours make or break whether I enjoy or dread and or am successful at whatever I’m working on. I’ve only had one new vehicle (Tacoma) and for 20 yrs old it runs great except for front end squeaks. I’ve taken it in for lube jobs and these cretins make a greasy mess without doing what I’m paying for. Got a cordless grease gun and you helped me load the gun proper, grease the driveline u joints, propeller shaft and the balljoints... Thanks

My Ex Husband is Jeff. So that counts!! 54yo woman figuring things out. I just bought this greeser to maintain the Mini X I just bought. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! Now outside I go to get Greesing.
Awesome pro tip! I have the very same gun and I would cuss it everytime I had to change the grease tube, knowing I'd have a fight with the bleed screw to get it primed. Thank you, sooo much!
I just bought the Dewalt grease gun and was ready to send it back cause I could not get grease out of it. I tried your way and it works great!!!! Thank you from Abingdon Va
On way I suppose to use one grease gun and still use both fittings is to have the lock and lube as the primary on the gun. Then make a small extension hose with the smaller fitting on one side and a coupler and grease nipple on the other side of the hose. Now you can interchange between the two fittings instead of two grease guns. Just an idea. Thanks for the bleeding tip!
Thank you. You have saved me from getting pissed off at the Dewalt grease gun that I'm buying today. I have a bucket lift that hasn't been greased in several months. You cant go wrong when you purchase a DEWALT.
The bad thing about automatic grease guns is that sometimes you can't tell whether or not grease is going into the zerk. But .... Just leave the pull rod all the way out. If you're wondering whether or not grease is going in, just watch the rod. If the rod is moving in, grease is going in!

Thank you so much man I thought that thing for 2 hours in the cold last night trying to get my Milwaukee skil to pump Grease Tru two tubes of Grease away thinking it was the grease. Going down outside right now to grease my dump trailer which I've been fighting with to get greased. We'll try your Technique and let you know how it did. Thank you sir also for the dipstick on a grease gun I never I knew that.
It should work. If it really cold out bring the gun inside and let it warm up that helps too. When the grease is cold it air locks worse. We will put them in the floorboard of the truck on the way to jobs a lot of times to warm them up in the mornings.
I’ve been using a grease gun since I was 5, I’m 59 and have never known this, even though I have a method that works, Thank You, enjoyed and subscribed
I have always had problems bleeding grease guns. I always use the stupid useless "bleed button" that is on the grease gun. It's always a struggle and it's always been very frustrating. This video was the BEST. It worked so well that I printed the instructions and hung them in my toolbox. My eternal grease gun problem has been solved. This video is excellent, and I'm so happy I found this. I don't use the DeWalt, I use the Milwaukee...but the same exact principles apply. THANK YOU!
I've always used the button... never knew about the trick. If I had I coulda saved a half tube of grease that had a huge air pocket in it. Thanks... very useful video!
Thanks.. I've never (over 65 years of using guns) had a problem until the last new cartridge I put into a new grease gun, and had the bubble.. until now, didn't know how simple getting rid of it was until this video.. tks
You're a godsend I have absolutely getting my ass kicked trying to figure out how to prime this DeWalt. I used your Technique which was not in the instructions and work like a charm. Thanks so much for the video
Thanks bro! I work offshore on a dredge and use the same exact same Dewalt gun, our daily greasing includes using about 2 tubes of grease a day!! It works!!! I'll never play with the screws on the top of the gun to bleed the air again!!!
Thanks, Never knew that trick or how to tell how much grease is left. Thanks for adding that tip because like you said, you can't assume everyone knows what you know. I'm quite a handyman and do most work myself but when I do hire a professional I like to watch them work and ask questions to learn tricks of the trade.
Thank you for the information. I’m literally sitting next to one of my horse trailers, trying to get information on how to bleed the Dewalt and found your video on my phone.
Thank you. Brand new milwaukee 18 v grease gun here. great gun but was having trouble priming it. tried this, and it worked first try. Thank you very much for sharing this. God bless.
+valek66. Lay your grease gun in the floor board of your truck when it's cold while your driving to work or going to get breakfast to help warm it up, helps a lot!
Hey bud, thank you SO MUCH for the tip. I was fixing to return this new grease gun because I couldn't get it to purge but now after your video it worked. I didn't want to return it because the price was great and there wasn't any other gun priced like this one and I didn't want to have to buy the other high dollar deals. Again thank you bubba, take care and thumbs up on your video.
Dennis,Thank you so much for this Video. It was very helpful,so helpful I couldn't sleep without trying out your method and sure enough it worked. The whole time I thought something was wrong with the gun. You explained very well that probably a child should be able to understand.🙂 Be safe, and thanks again
Thank you so much! I work at a steel factory and I have to lube up my machine every few months and I could never figure out why it wouldn’t except a new tube of greese. Had to mess with it a ton before it would work again, and maintenance had no idea why, not even my bosses🤦🏻♂️ Never occurred to me that was why it got stuck when you pulled it back, I always thought it was having trouble forcing it’s way through the tube lol
I have the 20 v DeWalt Grease gun with the long lock and lube and couldn't be happier with it what a timesaver. I've been using the air bleeder valve at the front of the gun I will try your trick to bleed the air out next time I put a new tubing in it. So far I have been able to get 15 1/2 tubes on one charge. Did not know how to find out how much grease was left in the tube thank you for the tip.
Thanks Dennis, I never knew the trick on how you check to see how much grease is left in the gun, also like the way you bleed the air. What you say is true sometimes I think that everybody knows what I do about some stuff. It's taken lot of years to learn this stuff. Thanks from Denis with just one N.
Thank you., I searched youtube just for this. This was one of the most agravating things in my life. I would say oh no I got to try to use the grease gun today. I got hand pump and a air one. I messed with that useless little button. I really really thank you. For the first time in my life I am looking forward to changing the blades and greasing may zero turn. Nobody knows it all. The man that admits that can learn. Great very clear, I got it. Wheew! Now the grease gun is not smarter than me any more.
Thank you very much. I just got a used Milwaukee M2 grease gun ran fine with the half a 2° grease it had then I went to change it. I’ve been fighting this thing for three days trying to figure it out on and off that worked like a charm.
I've been pushing that dang button for 56 years. Thank you and please don't tell my wife that there was really nothing wrong with all those grease guns I threw in the trash.
+Fred W. Lol! I hope it helps! I won't say anything to your wife.
I just bought the dewalt. So glad i watched this first. Btw, this is one of the best tutorials ive ever seen for anything. You didn't assume people knew anything walking into it and explained each step. A true teacher. Well done sir.

I ran into this problem just this week on my second tube of grease. I was pissed. So glad you knew something I didn't and were willing to share.
Never owned a cordless grease gun till now. It wouldn't prime. Saw your video worked 1st try. Eternal gratitude!
Great!

I've been farming since 1985 but still learning. I love your humble attitude and enjoy watching all your skills, only found you on youtube a week ago.
Thanks Ian!
I agree, good video. The only one on RUclips to tell me what I need to know.
👍
simplicity at its finest... THANK YOU!!!! Just converted my 18v grease gun to 20v max that i got as a gift... Thanks again...

Hey man, I watch a lot of these type of videos. First time I stumbled upon you and I’m a fan. Well done. Informative with some extra details, but right to the point and no draggy. Everything you said in this video was helpful. Great job, thanks.
Thank you

Your welcome!
I just bought the Dewalt grease gun and was ready to send it back cause I could not get grease out of it. I tried your way and it works great!!!! Thank you from Abingdon Va
Your welcome!
Dude! You have just saved me a lot of time and frustration...thanks man!!

Thanks a bunch, Ive taken a few steps away from the edge after this. And for the record, you have helped one Jeff and one Adam.
Lol 👍
Well you helped guide me with my MF 4710 purchase and now you helped me when I struggled with my grease gun. Now if you'd come get my cabin and well pump hooked up to solar and my food plots done, I'd be set! Great video and it worked like a charm. Thanks again
Haha I could probably figure it out
Thank you so much man I thought that thing for 2 hours in the cold last night trying to get my Milwaukee skil to pump Grease Tru two tubes of Grease away thinking it was the grease. @@DLHFarms it absolutely worked flawlessly thank you so much buddy.
Thank you. Had a brand new one and couldn’t get it to run until I found this video. Excellent work.
I’ve been using a grease gun since I was 5, I’m 59 and have never known this, even though I have a method that works, Thank You, enjoyed and subscribed

I learned a great lesson, I had NO idea that trick existed! Thank you, great information!

Thanks Jeff. Know I know why I have problems priming my 12v Lincoln grease gun. You taught me the tricks. Thanks buddy. God Bless.
I've always used the button... never knew about the trick. If I had I coulda saved a half tube of grease that had a huge air pocket in it.
Thanks... very useful video!
+Atoyota. Your welcome!
Thanks for the neat trick!!! Its such a relief that i wont have to keep switching to the manual one when i have to re-load, cheers!
Thanks.. I've never (over 65 years of using guns) had a problem until the last new cartridge I put into a new grease gun, and had the bubble.. until now, didn't know how simple getting rid of it was until this video.. tks
+deernutOO. Your welcome!
You're a godsend I have absolutely getting my ass kicked trying to figure out how to prime this DeWalt. I used your Technique which was not in the instructions and work like a charm. Thanks so much for the video
+Ben Kuxhouse. Good deal! I'm glad it worked for you, sometimes they can be a bear to get going.
I'm glad I found your video, no one has ever showed me how to use a grease gun and I just picked up a used dewalt gun a couple of days ago.
👍
Fantastic video, I actually learned something, you are so right the bleeder valve most of the time does not work. Many many thanks.
👍
Thanks bro! I work offshore on a dredge and use the same exact same Dewalt gun, our daily greasing includes using about 2 tubes of grease a day!! It works!!! I'll never play with the screws on the top of the gun to bleed the air again!!!
Awesome
You saved me! I was getting ready to chuck my out a window because it would stop greasing half way through a grease tube. This is awesome thanks man!
Glad it helped
That is the ONLY way to bleed a grease gun and have it work right! Good video
+Jake Ziegler. in my opinion it is! Thanks thanks for the comment!
Thank you! Your video was the only video that helped me to get my grease gun going! (I haven't owned one before and just got a new 4X4)
+Alana D'Elia. Well I'm glad I was able to help! Hope you enjoy your new 4x4!
Great information. The Milwaukee M18 instruction manual doesn't mention this method at all. Worked like a champ!
👍
I have a Dewalt and couldn't get it to prime. Your video saved that day. Appreciate it man
No problem!
I have struggled with my air grease gun, tried this method once and it fed perfectly !! Thanks for this video !!
Awesome 👍
Thanks, Never knew that trick or how to tell how much grease is left. Thanks for adding that tip because like you said, you can't assume everyone knows what you know. I'm quite a handyman and do most work myself but when I do hire a professional I like to watch them work and ask questions to learn tricks of the trade.
👍
very good video! thats some old school wisdom! thank you for the help. i have done nothing but struggle with grease guns.
+michael perri. Well, I hope you can now conquer the grease gun! Lol
God bless.
Damn good advice, can't believe I've struggled as much as I have in the cold frozen north with a cold tube. Thanks again.
Awesome glad it worked!
This was great! I never knew how to tell how much grease is left.
👍
Thank you I love the grease gun had it for four years and you just made my day

+Elm custom harvesting. Thanks! Jeff taught me everything I know! Lol
Shut up Eric, you're dumber than hell
Thanks this is the best Bleeding Grease Gun Video ... Thanks Jeff
+shaggmydogg. Your welcome! My name is Dennis, I made this for a guy named Jeff! Lol
Dennis, I kinda knew that.. I got a chuckle out of it.. my real name is Wes~.. but for this video it seemed "Jeff" seemed more appropriate! ..
+shaggmydogg. Lol! Nice to meet you Wes.
Dennis,Thank you so much for this Video.
It was very helpful,so helpful I couldn't sleep without trying out your method and sure enough it worked.
The whole time I thought something was wrong with the gun.
You explained very well that probably a child should be able to understand.🙂
Be safe,and thanks again
Awesome!
That’s an amazing technique. Worked like a charm on my Milwaukee!! Thanks
Thanks friend, I have been fooling with my old grease guns for 2 hours. Can't wait till morning to try your approach.
Hope it works!
Thanks. I learned something new today about my grease guns.
+ml2trick 👍
I just switched to an electric Milwaukee and wish I saw this before I wasted a whole tube of grease trying to get it to work properly lol. Thank you!
Haha
Thank you so much! I work at a steel factory and I have to lube up my machine every few months and I could never figure out why it wouldn’t except a new tube of greese. Had to mess with it a ton before it would work again, and maintenance had no idea why, not even my bosses🤦🏻♂️ Never occurred to me that was why it got stuck when you pulled it back, I always thought it was having trouble forcing it’s way through the tube lol
👍
I have the 20 v DeWalt Grease gun with the long lock and lube and couldn't be happier with it what a timesaver. I've been using the air bleeder valve at the front of the gun I will try your trick to bleed the air out next time I put a new tubing in it. So far I have been able to get 15 1/2 tubes on one charge. Did not know how to find out how much grease was left in the tube thank you for the tip.
+Mech Uno. No problem! Glad I could help.
Best how-to grade grease gun explanation I've seen
The button on top and the ball valve is for drum loading grease instead of cartridge load grease.
Super tip and great demonstration. Worked for me right off the bat. Thanks!!
+Selah Isreal. Lol I hope it works for you. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, but if I do know I will share it with you. Good luck!
Thank you very much. I just got a used Milwaukee M2 grease gun ran fine with the half a 2° grease it had then I went to change it. I’ve been fighting this thing for three days trying to figure it out on and off that worked like a charm.
Fantastic!!! You are the best for making this video. The instructions that came with the gun are are crap!!! You solved my problem!
Someone give this man a raise!!
Lol
Thank you! Finally understand how grease guns work after being frustrated with them all my life.
Glad it helped
Thank you for your down to earth clear explanation. Its so nice to hear good old common sense vice chinese pictures that make my head spin.
