I'm gonna' have to go with Deegan. He's hungry and motivated after the Supercross defeat. And of course Jett in the premier class. There will be more surprises though with Sexton and Tomac this season.
Am I the only one that thinks these guys over train? You see all of these guys strength training, cycling, and then on top of that riding sessions like every day. I understand the riding sessions but at what point do these guys hit a plateau in there conditioning levels? Wouldn't they be better off dropping the cycling and conditioning in favor of more riding practice sessions and be better off physically? I don't know
Idk if you know this but Jo couldn’t even walk after SLC and was on crutches. He also hasn’t been riding since SLC so I don’t see him doing much the first few rounds.
There's no way to call the 250's other than the usual suspects will be up front, at least by the end of the race. That's what's going to be so fun about the first race. I have a good feeling about Deegan but i have before and he didn't get it done. Vialle, another hard one to call because of his spotty results last year but now he has a championship and this year he knows all the tracks which is huge and his bike should be much better. His 2 mX2 championships can not be taken lightly so I give him a slight nod for the title. Kitchen has the speed but has to prove consistency. RJ, hit's the ground allot but if not he should be up there. Don't see Shimoda doing much.
Hey cooksey I enjoy the show , just wanted to say rj and tom v collected close to a million dollars each with those SX championships ! You mentioned you were afraid Forkner might have become the first fatality in Supercross. I think you have forgotten about this: Jan. 25, 2004 SAN DIEGO -- The first fatality in the 32 years of AMASupercross occurred Saturday afternoon in Qualcomm Stadium, according to Todd Jendro, the director of Supercross for ClearChannel Motorsports. Riverside resident Jason Ciarletta, a 19-year-old 125cc division rider, crashed during a qualifying race for the evening’s heat races. He was transported to Sharp Hospital in Kearny Mesa and declared dead upon arrival.
Going to be fun. Deegan and vialle were pretty close at pala last year and both should be better this year. Rj did win the first moto that race so if he doesnt crash three times like last year he has a shot at winning it. I just want some solid battles and 250 should deliver that this season. 450 i just hope chase can keep close and win a few motos. That said im going Deegan and jett for the wins this weekend.
Idk last year Deegan had the edge on outdoors because of the overjumping but that takes a toll, him and Hunter were standouts with Levi there for a moto every other week
Good stuff as usual, Cooksey! I have Tom Vialle as my pick for the 250cc Motocross title, and Jett Lawrence for the 450cc Motocross title myself. Valid point on the stress levels and Eppstein-Barr stuff; I think I understand on another note why McGrath went SX-only from 1999 on, and why guys like Ken Roczen and other privateers are going SX-only, too.
That’s what everyone keeps saying but he never does. Yall act like he hasn’t been sending it his entire life and has rarely been hurt. Outdoors he knows how to ride and send it and stay up. I guess you think if you say it enough it’ll eventually happen, which obviously I’m sure it will bc it happens to everyone eventually, and then you can act like you were right. How about just realize the kid knows how to ride at that level?
RJ just won the sx title he’s been working hard for for years. He’s not going to come out strong after the championship hangover, it’s a real thing especially for someone that has been trying to get that title so long. He won’t be sending it now like he normally does and he’s really never been that good outdoors, so very unlikely he wins the title or is even a title contender by halfway thru the season.
