What an amazing guy he is. Brilliant, articulate, intelligent, measured, organised, driven and super talented. I wonder where he is in life 45 years later???
Interesting, enlightening, educative ...to understand the challenges we face today we need to know the struggles, trials our the generations before us...What a brave, wonderful guy...would love to meet him and interview him for my you tube channel ...
This is so interesting, I love learning about different diaspora experience. Especially since this was more than 40 years ago, those teens in the social club are close to 60 yrs old now. I wonder how Ranjit's career path went on later in life.
He taught me as a youth and community work student in the 80s - but has had a very distinguished career - ' Ranjit is currently a Commissioner at the Criminal Cases Review Commission, Vice Chairman of the Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, a member of the Equality and Diversity Committee of the Bar Standards Board and a Commissioner at the Judicial Appointments Commission. He is also a lay member of the University of Birmingham’s Council, a Trustee of the Cole Trust, a Board member of the Nishkam Healthcare Trust and a Trustee of Hope Projects for destitute asylum seekers. Previously, he was founder Director of the Asian Resource Centre, Birmingham, deputy chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, Chairman of the Refugee Training, Employment and Education Forum, senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham Westhill, a Governor of the BBC, a Trustee of the National Gallery, Chairman of the Heart of England Primary Care Trust, Board Member of the Tenant Services Authority and a Civil Service Commissioner.
Wow!! Memories of the Handsworth I grew up in. Also Dasmesh Sikh temple that my Father was a founder member of. Proper nostalgia fest. 🙏🏼
