Well it is only worth that before they put it in... Once it has to be pulled out of a patient it is worthless for medical purposes. They cannot be reused because you cannot be sure it is 100% sterilized. Much less Hip replacements are rarely removed while still in good condition. Usually they have failed in some manner which really makes them worth nothing more than the price of the metal itself.
get a knife and position it edge up, im curious if the thin edge will just separate the water in 2 smallers streams or if the water will just cut trough it
Y'all should cut a piece of petrified wood. It's really easy to find it here in North Dakota and I would like to see what it looks like with a clean cut through the middle.
That's pretty awesome. I am a waterjet operator. I've never cut any titanium on my flow jet. I run a flow jet Mach III. I bet your guys tank is freaking nasty. Lol. We just had ours emptied about a month ago. And it was gross just the sludge in the bottom.
Disposing of the radioactive and toxic heavy metal contaminated water and decontaminating the machine and surrounding area would be an absolute pain. I don't think they'l be trying that one anytime very soon.
I'd like to see how much of a difference the abrasive makes, get a couple of bricks or something and cut (or try) one with just water and then abrasive
Me too. Doc said after practicing hard enough to be a human metronome I can come back and he will put me a new hip. And I'm in Africa, but down South so probably not considered Africa enough yet lolol.
Caleb Cowles I mean I doubt these guys will drop 400$ just for a couple of grams of cesium. Not to mention cutting a small amount of it could cause serious damage to their machine. In the case of francium I'm not really sure why you would even mention that because there is approximately only 30 grams of francium on the earth at any given time so collecting enough to visibly cut in half would be next to impossible.
Titanium is not as strong as people think it is. What makes titanium so great in aerospace engineering is its phenomenal weight to strength ratio and its resistance to high temperatures. Also, the process to isolate and produce titanium metal has been exorbitantly expensive for decades and only now, within the last decade, is not that bad anymore.
You know it’s titanium because it has been implanted into a body; titanium is one of maybe three metals that are ‘safe’ for use in implants. Chromium, for contrast, is toxic; even wearing chrome plated jewellery for an extended period can cause an adverse reaction. Although the spark test is very pretty.
how about cutting a big chunk o sodium?
Cody'sLab that would blow their minds 😂
Cody'sLab big fan of you cody .. keep going ❤
In a vacuum.
Cody'sLab i dont think that would be a good idea
Didn't expect to see you here Cody.
Nothing like watching a +$10,000 titanium hip getting cut with water
TheVitruvius its not the metal ... its the water :p nvm u can sell that titanium hip after is getting melted and transformed into an ingot or nugget
If it was put in an ingot it would go from like $10000 dollars to max $500
TheVitruvius My grandmother got 2 knee replacements from the nhs in the uk and each is worth about £30,000
$1/lb scrap

So, he won't touch it with his bare hands, but he'll lick it?
Mark McGee yes
It was in a way washed by the waterjet
Never seen sparkling water before! Impressive! Btw, looking forward to see the fan mail unboxing... ;-)
:-D You´re absolutely right! What would you call it when water throws out sparks?
its actually the sand hitting the metal and then sparks
Sparking water?
it's because of the fine sand in the water
These videos should just be titled "Mitchell Licking {Insert item}"
Waterjet Channel should make a few videos where you go to get some of this stuff
Waterjet Channel how bout Plutonium?
why not make a video together with the slowmoguys?
Waterjet Channel they can come over to you guys right?
Daan Zwerts it's already slow
I don't think the SlowMo Guys would work well with something that ALREADY takes a while to do.
actually....they need the opposite here....speeding up
so the slowmo guys would not really help much here
Waterjet Channel I'm pretty sure they are in Austin Texas with the rest of Rooster teeth lol
This is by far the funniest waterjet video I have ever seen cutting into a titanium hip replacement.
If Titanium wasn't so expensive I would ask to see more! That's pretty cool color affect!
What can this thing not cut?
get a knife and position it edge up, im curious if the thin edge will just separate the water in 2 smallers streams or if the water will just cut trough it
DutchClawz I actually think they did that already
DutchClawz look up them cutting csgo knives
Wow it was sparking!
ikr.
Its the sand thats mixed with the water
Awesome! It looks like a like laser cutting - even though it's water. The titanium creates so much sparks.
I think Mitchell's taste test is my new favourite part of the show.
Y'all should cut a piece of petrified wood. It's really easy to find it here in North Dakota and I would like to see what it looks like with a clean cut through the middle.
Haha the guy in the back round singing kid rock! You're awesome.
I love the taste test there always so accurate
That's pretty awesome. I am a waterjet operator. I've never cut any titanium on my flow jet. I run a flow jet Mach III. I bet your guys tank is freaking nasty. Lol. We just had ours emptied about a month ago. And it was gross just the sludge in the bottom.
shoot the "water laser" in the air, I want to see how far it can go.
No Name thats a huge and stable machine , thats impossible , sorry
Bruno Garcia not impossible, just difficult, would be interesting to see.
Giuseppe take a look on their "cleaning " video , this is impossible
Can it cut the moon?
starrychloe I guess not...
Cody'sLab + Waterjet Channel = maybe collaboration
how do you not have more subscribers? these videos are hilarious
Hmm. What about depleted uranium?
Disposing of the radioactive and toxic heavy metal contaminated water and decontaminating the machine and surrounding area would be an absolute pain. I don't think they'l be trying that one anytime very soon.
I don't know why but these videos are really cool
Pretty dope seeing water spark
I might need that soon I got might hip screwed up in a car accident so it's cool to know what it will do in a water jet
Makes it look like a laser cutter!
This channel is the best!😂😂👌
Simple, but very interesting because of the item and material.
I never thought water striking metal would create sparks !!
Dude I love that curly haired guy. he's hilarious.
I have had one done and I was as wondering what was in side thank you
@ 0:10 I'd immediately think something lewd. "this is a pet play item isnt it? a tail plug!"
I'd like to see how much of a difference the abrasive makes, get a couple of bricks or something and cut (or try) one with just water and then abrasive
1:12 the same guy who licks Every thing doesn't wanna touch the hip replacement lol
ok im impressed where the hell did you get a used hip replacement?
At least he didn't say "tastes like Grandma" when he licked it... 😞
Are you guys cutting your silver play button?
This channel is awesome
just what i always wanted to know :D thx guys!!
Will it cut diamond?
What is the material that it can't cut ?
Way to go from "I'm not touching that" to "sure I'll lick it"
How much paper can you cut
did it product sparks? was that because of particles of titanium hitting each other after being displaced?
jakub richnavsky Sand is used in the water jet as an abrasive.
That would make a great shifter
Oooo sparks, that's cool
so what exactly can't your water jet cut?
Is the water from the tank underneath recycled by the machine?
No the water that goes into the waterjet must be perfectly clean and further filtered down sub micron size clean
I thought so
so I live only a couple miles away from the water jet channel, and 2 cities away from Cody's lab. neat
Have you guys cut through glass yet? Like panes of glass?
Watch the one where they cut a Ship in a Bottle.
Would be interesting to see a giant gummy bear cut with the waterjet.
It could be Adamantium?
What is turner from "turner and hooch" working there
It might be a dumb question, but how many liters of water flow out each second?
ANDRE BOL In a previous video they mentioned that it consumes very little water, something like half a gallon per minute.
Ricky B Thank you for the reply!
why did it spark?
there's sand mixed in with the water
how did it spark and it's water to metal
Can you cut a slab of cesium?
You guys rock!
You guys should try out a socket wrench or a spark plug !?
Could the waterjet cut through diamond?
how far would it shoot in the air?
I was hoping you were gonna do the whole thing
I wouldn't believe it without a taste test on all these things
what if you quickly throw a piece of beef or hotdog under it as if you waved your hand and what would happen?
a kid in Africa could've used that hip replacement
Me too. Doc said after practicing hard enough to be a human metronome I can come back and he will put me a new hip. And I'm in Africa, but down South so probably not considered Africa enough yet lolol.
Grandma can I borrow your hip? It's for science ...
How cool were those sparks tho
Saiu faísca mesmo?
"Water jets *can* cut hip replacements" - I thought he was going to add "So be careful!"
Superman's skin vs a 60,000 psi waterjet
can it cut oxygen?
can it cut thru a running car engine
Will a waterjets cut magnesium?
you should cut sodium.
Saunterblugget Hampterfuppinshire
sodium if for amateurs, try potassium
maelgugi pottasium is for amateurs, try rubidium
pigs make Bacon nah they should do cesium or francium.
Caleb Cowles I mean I doubt these guys will drop 400$ just for a couple of grams of cesium. Not to mention cutting a small amount of it could cause serious damage to their machine. nathaniel rutkowski it's a joke
Not going to mention the sparks it made?
Is there anything water jets cannot cut?
gosh I HATE when I have all these DARN hip replacements, just LYIN AROUND!!!
Are there materials water can't cut?
Bokusatsu Tenshi, water...
Will you cut a waterjet in half
What hip is used for? What is it?
whoa is there anything it cant handle ?
Still waiting on the Prince Ruperts drop
McGyver here . To be quite honest I did not think it would get cut much less cut in half.
Amazing content
..................... how about cutting a hydraulic ram? i want to see a cross section of hydraulic ram please

What about you guys cut a tungsten-carbide drill bit? should be really tough :D
can you do tungsten carbide vs water jet?
that's pretty neat.
do a dumbbell next (various sizes)
You know it’s titanium because it has been implanted into a body; titanium is one of maybe three metals that are ‘safe’ for use in implants. Chromium, for contrast, is toxic; even wearing chrome plated jewellery for an extended period can cause an adverse reaction.
Although the spark test is very pretty.
imagine a watergun battle with this waterjet machine...
When my granny got her hip replaced she gave the old one to her dog lol.
how about cutting trough ballistic gelatine? wanna see how it would be, if it would cut an human
They already had a pig's head under the water jet and ballistic gel would be really boring.
yeah, you're right...
Can you cut obsidian? I think it's very hard.
2:22 "Yeah, it's broken apart. Uhhhh...."
Do a bearing and see how fast you can get it to spin
a hug from colombia
Y'all Know...."It's HIP to be square".😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. (ps: those that don't get the Joke, it's an 80s song by Huey Lewis😉😎)
is there anything that it cant cut?
the earth
U guys should cut amber. The orange stuff that comes from trees and traps bugs for millions of YeA
Years*
