Oh wow... I mean, I am sitting in my apartment in Finland, at one a clock in the morning listening MamaRu talk. She talked straight to my heart. I have been thinking about these things lately, but somehow Ru finally made me understand the consept of me being my own saboteur. For me Ru is the embodiment of wisdom and every time he talks, i feel loved. Even tho he doesn't know me. I truly can now say that RuPaul is my greatest mentor, idol and guide. Hes wisdoms have gotten me further I ever tought I could get. It brings tears of joy in my eyes, when I say: I love you MamaRu, Thank you for saving me!❤
Its 2:42 am here where i am. I got to this because today's elimination on drag race left me feeling lost and ugly. If I did not find this......if i did not know who Ru Paul is I almost fear it with a religious ferver, and it is mainly for his podcast with michelle these days, and NOW THIS!
I'm in los angeles thinking the same thing. I was kinda in shock hearing this because it's been my current journey that i've been so internally stuck inside. I felt such release from the mamaru ted talk just now, it really opened up all spiritual blockage. [LOVE]
I'm sitting in Brighton, English South coast (Gay Capital of the UK) And totally spooked out! Was expecting a giggle! But got the talk I needed to hear! See how the Universe works?! Beautiful talk by MammaRu! 💟💟💟
It brings me to tears when I think of how far we have come as a community who once was widely bullied and rejected. You will never have seen this happen twenty years ago, we are so fortunate to be able to know that this event was made possible.
I got the absolute pleasure of being at DragCon this year and got to attend this speech. I can honestly say it is something I will NEVER forget in my entire life. The amount of love in that room at that time was just phenomenal and just thinking about being there again makes me well up with joy and happiness.
Everytime i listen or watch a rupaul interview or podcasts, i get goosebumps. this speech has helped me already, RU talking about how to love yourself is just what I needed to hear. i wanted to go to dragcon so bad but I live in Oklahoma and have no money. I'm going to try and save up and go take the grayhound to NYC dragcon.
I could honestly listen to Ru talk forever. He is so wise, funny, and down to earth. Listening to him speak about his past, his experiences/hardships, makes me feel a lot better. He gives me so much hope. He is right, everyone is holding onto some experience in their lives and are victimizing themselves and are allowing other people to victimize them. I don't victimize myself, but I do allow my negative past and present experiences to hold me back. I am religious and I do pray everyday to God because I believe in God and praying to God helps to relieve me of any stress or anxiety that I'm feeling at the moment. Mama Ru, you don't know me and I don't know you personally but I know that you're an incredible human being. I really want you to know that you've helped me in ways that no one ever has before. So thank you so much for helping me and guiding me, and for giving me hope. I love you Ru, and may God bless you always❤️🙏🏼
These were the best words a person can read and an amazing way to teach specially young people to have a deeper insight. Ru Paul is clearly not just a drag queen but a hell of a "fierce" mind. Congrats @rupaul for the amazing speech. #keepdoingit
It takes pain to know pain, and what Rupaul is saying here is that he sees the pain we all have experienced and how we need to get past it, circumvent it, and allow ourselves to advance. I am incredibly inspired here.
Ru said playing small and it reminds me of a poem I try to tell myself everyday. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. " - coach carter
RuPaul you're such an amazing and admirable human being thank you so much for share your life for some of us who feel the way you're talking about the self sabotage take it as an example of success... you made my day thank you
My third time watching this over the last few months and I hear a little more each time. Wonderful keynote, very encouraging and insightful. Thank you Ru
We need more celebrities talking like this...so much inspiration....such an intelligent man... #ru4President lol Thank you for giving us hope in ourselves.
Omg seeing myself at 32:28 on the verge of tears and so inspired is so kickass and amazing!! Love you guys at WOW and of course mama Ru more than anything
I waited outside trying to get in, and wasn’t able to make it. The seats all got taken. I’m so grateful that this is posted now. I was so bummed. But at least I got to meet Ru in person. It was such a magical experience DragCon.
As someone who needed to hear this right now, I thank you mama Ru. Thank you and World of Wonder for always helping me stay up when I'm headed down. I love you all, and I hope to one day love all of me too.
RuPaul is my religion, I ain't gonna lie. He has inspired me so much. and for the younger generation to dismiss him as they do in favor of the queens on HIS show, they have had it too good. LE-GEND.
I have sent this to those I love, and will continue to do so. I will watch when I need reminding. Thank you, RuPaul for sharing your journey. Love and light.
That was so good honestly. Ru is a genious. I was hoping he would talk about this because Michelle and Ru talked about Meditation and loving yourself before. This was important I'm glad he talked about something that matters.
What makes this panel and this speech even better is that there's a ASL translator up there with him. It makes me so happy to see such a safe, inclusive safe for LGBTQIA+ members and those with disabilities.
Great Talk Ru, I've had the good fortune of being a sober woman (natural + straight) for 30 years and what you said rings so true! Getting up and stretching my physical and spiritual muscles and turning my will over to a power greater than myself is the single best thing I do for me every day. When I attach my consciousness I ask for guidance of how I may be of service to the rest of his/her children and other fantastic creations we've been entrusted with. I got sober at the age of 27 (1986) and my children always had a sober mom, but I didn't, my parents divorced also and like you, there were many incidents of disappointments and "bad code" written in my machine. One of my greatest break through's was understanding that my parents were ill equipped and their actions and subsequent blows to my psyche were a result of collateral damage and had nothing to do with me. The other thing that released me from that bondage of resentment was forgiveness. Thank you for the color and love and laughter I enjoy your quick mind and artistic spirit. Now keep doing you, RU, bringer of enlightenment to the children. Your companion on the journey, Jo

Mama Ru, please speak at my funeral........
tori s )))))
i would die for it 😅
If Ru was born in another time, perhaps an ancient time, I don't doubt there would be a religion based around him.
Roell Maldonado Barragán he gives me hedonistic vibes yet very humble
I've been binge watching Nelson's videos of the 80s- Ru is the same beautiful spirit today... bring it home to NYC mama 💋
