Actually most sources - even old ones call it "balanced". While I would be willing to allow that it may have once been proper to say "balance" - enough authorities use the word "balanced" that now only a nasty tempered prig would try to enforce the archaic terminology in the name of "correctness" and such people can often be found correcting others.
