The quality of the balls is going up and the price is going down, that's a nice trend. Now we need the balls to be more similar among producers
Interesting video. Too bad some producers feel the need to have background music so loud, the main narration is hard to hear.
Naive kid
@@andrieslouw6588 I was probably replying some already deleted comment. I don't remember what it was.
This is definitely hand-made high quality product crafted in China! By the way, the director of Red Double Happiness Company has a nice gold watch on his wrist.
Wang Liqin - 3 times World Champion . He is the best. I liked his playing style. And this competiton between he and Ma Lin, called Mr World Cup .
Mr World Cup :D
Yes, Ma Lin won 4 world cups but never won the world championships. Wang Liqin won 3 wttc in singles but not a single world cup :D
Great. Now show us how XuShaoFa makes those seamless balls
A process called roto molding is used. Roto molding is an old technique but making precision TT balls is a challenge.
the reason why the balls keep changing is also very economics. they make more profit with the increase of sells due to the need of bigger replacement
We should buy these table tennis balls, Buy love and use! I love Table tennis balls! Another is all table tennis balls brands are same as the DHS balls. I would love to see the process of Nittaku Premium 40+ balls are made.
I use these DHS balls. They are cheaper and are of superior quality than of other brands.
This feels more like
DHS infomercial the documentary..
ITTF, you should put Closed Caption in your vids
Must've took a lot of balls to make this video...
If you ever wonder why the pros hold the ball up to the light, I suspect it's to look for a dark spot that indicates that the ball has a manufacturing defect.
And when I buy a 10 pack of DHS D40+ there seems to be an average of 7 out of 10 balls with that have a wall thickness variation. This makes quality balls even more expensive than a 3 pack of Nittakus because you have to buy 10 DHS to get 3 quality balls.
Don't get me wrong, the 3 D40+ out of the 10 pack that are good quality are arguable BETTER than the Nittaku NP40+ balls. But it's frustrating to buy a 10 pack of 3* DHS and wind up with 7 balls that are 1-2* training quality.
You are really high maintenance. Personally, i find every DHS D40+ ball has wonderful quality with rare exceptions.
@@nishantupadhyay01 When I wrote that post, 4 years ago, it was accurate. DHS has for decades, been known to mix factory seconds into their premium offerings, even when purchasing through DHS resellers. I suspected that they simply didn't have the quality controls in place that companies like Nittaku and Butterfly have in order to supply the export market with first quality product.
Since then, it's worthy to note that DHS has produced variants of DJ40+ series balls (both Tokyo 2020 and the newer WTT) that are either higher or equivalent priced compared to Nittaku Premiums.
Of those more expensive DJ series, I have only ordered a dozen or so, but have not found the defects that I had wither earlier DHS D40+ balls.
TL;DR Report
Nittaku Premium 40+ Balls are consistent quality for the dollar.
DHS makes some great balls, but you might have to pay Nittaku prices to get them.
someone knows where i can buy this machine
@1:45 DHS is now producing D40+ table tennis balls to replace the polymer (plastic) 40+ which is being manufactured by other companies but prone to breakage, cracks, etc. The DHS D series use tougher ABS (plastic) which increases toughness for much better durability. 40 stands for 40mm which was introduced in 2000 to replace the traditional 37mm diameter. + simply means plastic instead of the highly flammable celluloid, introduced for much safer transport/delivery, especially air freight. Did you know celluloid balls were banned for air cargo back then?
After all, my guess is D signifies DHS for their selection of ABS material to keep their D series balls apart from other branded polymers. Whether they have patented this product is unclear.
"✚" symbol indicates a greater diameter of ABS balls/
We can't do multi balls anymore in my club because of this ridiculous price for the plastic balls.. By the way they make an awful sound and break easier.. We want celluloid back
Do you test the new DHS D40+? It's getting quite good responses in the internet
Yes. 40+ = garbage. D40+ = good ball and good value.
ABS plastic materials are much better than others old ones.
I like xiom 40+.
Oxidh Dazoth get seemless and you won’t have problems, bud
Everything is going to be just fine.

BALLS!
Gee. No mention of how the 40+ ball is/was one of the crappiest of the new non-celluloid balls made. Players have been complaining for years. They break easily, bounce low and go out of round while playing. These balls have been a real embarrassment for both DHS and the ITTF. That, of course, is why DHS now makes the much improved D40+ ball. Finally, DHS delivers a ball worthy of the DHS brand and a ball fit for top level international play. A ball that is finally roughly equal to the high quality of the Nittaku 40+ Premium ball.
Jay Turberville this comment didn’t age well
@@yadayadayada6351 In what way?
@@wturber They last much longer than celluloid balls now and are pretty consistent with most mainstream brands
Nooo way the whole controll proces is by hand!
Only tournament balls
What happens to the discarded balls?
They use them to feed turtles in the Chinese seas.

Seamless tt ball production please...
Patented secret.

Thanks.. havent seen actual TT videos of those
What I said about my uncle Rolando Alvarez was true but I learned that you may trust all my family.
It would be cheaper to make these in sheets.
Самые офигительные мячи
less volume on the guitar please
so manual intensive
But what's the difference between the D40+ and the 40+ from DHS? Same Q as the G40+ from butterfly...
different material that makes the ball more consistent and durable but results in a heavier and less spinny ball. I'm pretty sure it is another kind of plastic called ABS (not sure for G40+ but D40+ and Nittaku premium 40+ for sure).
That's helpfull, thank you.
That's basically correct except for the point about weight. All balls must meet the same weight requirements, so any differences will be small. Also the issue about having less spin is very subjective and hardly settled. So far, there are no objective measurements.
So if there isn't such a big difference between old 40+ balls and these new 40+, is it all about the marketing or brand competition?
There is a real difference. It is in the material. The D40+ balls bounce about the same as celluloid balls. They are more durable. And subjective impressions suggest that they are more uniform and that they maintain their uniformity well. It is only the comment about weight and spin that I'd caution against taking too seriously. If you want to purchase a DHS 3* non-celluloid ball, be sure to buy the D40+ - the package with the woman player printed on it.
Wow I'm glad to see how they make such low quality balls 😃
Keenan Southall uuuhmmm they are 3 star balls
Best quality
And 3 star balls are the most best quality balls if there is approved by ittf
и здесь Кирилл засветился. Это старая технология изготовления, а как безшовные делают не показали
very traditional Chinese company, old and broken, but not surprise can make a best quality

Good advertising for a ball that no one likes. Thanks Ittf for your lies on the harmfulness of fast glue and celluloid
I would also like to take my family from Guatemala to planet zero there is a total of 72 family members not including their spouses
I'm very angry after have seen this video.
200'000'000 balls as production of DHS, handmade, quality control not on top.
the sessione 16-17 was the year of scraped balls (and not only for us...read the formus ww).
we paid 1,60 Euro each ball, more than 80 balls gone in championship games. unbelievable.
technically a problem still now, still now again, there are today (again) no balls to buy.
politically and economically: a multiple of 200'000'000 gives everyone motive to put hands in this business. And DHS is only one of ...
Management by bananas: the product grows up bu customer (it pay...). And we pay!
Yes. The ITTF's handling of the transition and their use of an inferior tournament ball speaks poorly of our international sanctioning body.

why do chinese factories always look so crappy?
So the only aspect of the process of any interest -- how the balls are made into spheres -- is a "company secret".

Thanks for another useless video.
