so we can bring back the animals, but if we dont bring back their habitat where are they gonna live? if the conditions that led to their demise are still present (or even worse), then what would be the point? to put them in a zoo like jurassic park? perhaps we should wait til the human population collapses, or bring back a species that can make that happen. as for the "moral hazard" of thinking that this is easy will create an catastrophic attitude towards conservation, that the fix is easy so we dont need to worry about future extinctions, i think its important to point out all of the eco "science" blogs that tout easy sustainable energy solutions, e.g. "this tiny corner of the southwest has enough solar potential to power the whole U.S."
Makes some good points. not really sure that there is that much controversy around bringing extinct animals back to life. I have a feeling that when organizations decided to bring something back from the dead, they will have done studies on it regardless of this ted talks or not lol.
