After my days of watching Bill Dance as a kid, I never thought I'd fan boy out on fishing videos again. These are so helpful. Many thanks to you and Tim!
AWESOME video, Matt! I went out to Lake Fork in Texas last week and had little to no luck because I was using the entirely wrong baits and methods. I got home and watched this video. Ohhh how I wish I had watched it before going out to the lake! Even though we're still hot here, the things you were talking about in this video were EXACTLY going on. Once I watched, all the pieces came together and it dawned on me what was going on with the bass. Now I know and I'm already making plans to go back out with this new information. Thank you so so much!
I am a novice fisherman, and this is the best, most informative and helpful video I have seen, and I've watched quite a few in the last few years. Thank you for making videos that are helpful for those of us just starting to learn.😃
Another great TB vid! For someone who deals with chronic nerve pain, these vids are a huuuge help to me. I dont get out on the water nearly enough, and when I do, I want to make it count. Much appreciated Matt & Tim. 🙌
Your so lucky to have the lake to yourself. Here in NC there would of been 50 pleasure boats gone by and 25 bass boats during your 25 minute video. That's on a weekday. Thanks.
Matt I honestly don’t know what any of us would do without you man. I can honestly say that 80 percent of my fish caught this year were because of you man. Thank you so much for taking the time out and helping us anglers out👌🏼👍🏼🤟🏼
Perfect timing. Transition here began a couple weeks ago. Pads and grass are dying off, night temps are much cooler. It’s time to break that summer pattern!
This is true, this video time is funny for me. I am in Minnesota & decided to try some cranking around a point off the deepest hole in the lake the other day (haven’t done much cranking this year) and I got on a killer bite! So much fun. Your videos are such a great tool!
Never caught anything on a jig, tube or spinner. I watched one of Matt's videos where he explained how to use these baits. So I went out and used a tube and a jig (colors and presentation per his advice) and for the first time I caught bass on these lures. Thanks, Matt!
How does this video have 10 thumbs down??? Anybody that watches this oughta be amazed and somewhat overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge being thrown at us!
Very true and accurate information. I experienced this yesterday, the dinks were out in open water and the bigs were holding right under the grass patches.
One of the most comprehensive in depth videos I have ever watched on this subject Matt Super job !!!!!! I am leaving Monday am for a Bass fishing Vacation I am not going to tell where but it is some place I have never been and this was right on the money for me I will post vids on my channel when I get back there is ZERO connection for any thing out where I am going So thank you from a Colorado Angler
Thanks Matt! The transition started last week up here in NH. It's been 45-53 at night the past week and a half or so. I'm super stoked that fall is nearly here!
Matt Allen... stud... I was struggling last night fishing summer patterns and didn’t realize this can literally happen over night... can’t wait to burn that crank!
Love how you cover the regions for each season, it saves on search time. I'm already struggling on my lakes to the point of leasing ponds so I don't care to waste more time. Thanks
robert pasbrig that’s what most people think, that’s why more people fish in the spring meanwhile the lake will be empty in the fall. Leaves more fish to be caught by folks like me.
For Central Ohio the magic number is 55. Once we have 3 or 4 consecutive nights in the 50's the transition starts. Cool steady rain for 2 or more days around this time of year will also start the transition. All that cool water hits the roots and its game on. Around here maple tree leaves are the first to start to change color. I've noticed the buzzards group up and start their migration at the same time. I work outside almost everyday. There's a crisp clean breeze. The transition this year came a week or two earlier than last year.
Wow I just saw this yesterday at diamond Valley large bass in the shallows moving large groups of shad into the banks now I know where to fish next time deep water nearby thank you so much
Awesome vid Matt always the best information. You break it down so much and never steer Us in the wrong direction. I think it is the best fishing channel on RUclips!
My #1 Favorite RUclips Channel! Thank you so much for everything Matt and Tim! You guys have such a huge impact in my life! Thank you so much for everything you guys have taught us!
Another great video as always! It was awesome getting to meet you out there at the lake! My buddy Devin landed a 5 pounder on the other side of the park, about a half hour after we got to talk to you. Thanks for the tips on Hwy 20 side. I got a couple 4's over along the hwy. Can't say how awesome you guys are. So down to earth. Fan for life! -James
Thank you so much I've been riding The Struggle Bus and you have given me confidence to make a change. Thank you for all that you do I appreciate you very much. Free seminars from my opinion the best teacher in the biz. Keep it up brother
Just wanted to say thanks this video hit my lake on the head watched then went fishing and started punching which is something I'm brand new to and caught one within 30 mins of doing and it was a huge confidence boost and if it wasnt for this video I would have never tried it
Great info! Love this channel. I don't know what I would do without you guys! I'm about to buy Matt a plane ticket and have him fly to NC so he can guide me on my local lakes!!
I started watching your fall videos from 2018 a week ago. You guys are the best. I’m probably going to watch this video a dozen times in the next month. Tied on a finesse jig with a rage craw, a shakey head and a bluegill jackhammer a week ago and immediately got bites. Used the shakey head to locate and the jig to get the bigger bite. 👊🏼👍🏼
Matt, You are The Tony Robbins Of Fishing 👍🔨🎣😉😂 I have pounding during this new moon, and my fish are not cooperating. Now, you have done such a great job explaining and I am motivated to get out hunting them down 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great Job 👍😉 thanks again 🙏
Nailed it. We are in Central Indiana. I started to change out my baits 1-2 weeks ago. I fish a lot of ponds and the topwater bite changed and the jig bite picked up.
More inspiring advice! I just sent this video to my buddy in Tennessee as the nights have cooled down and are on a slow but steady drop in temperature there. He’ll be fishing a tournament on Chic this Sunday. I hope he heeds the advice on this video, and I am looking forward to hearing from him Monday.
Man, I wanna thank you all. I’ve been fishing for awhile and I’ve brushed up on some stuff with you guys and broke my PB twice in the same day with 2 5lb bass within 20 mins of each other fishing thick cover. Thank you guys for what you do and the knowledge you give us! 👍🏻
Very informative video. This explains why I catch a bunch of largemouth in Lake Erie off a long break wall during fall but not spring or summer. Thanks!
Once early October hits I put flipping jigs away an mainly use swim jigs with slower retrieve an longer pause. When you fish fast in the summer it's great but as it starts to cool slow down retrieve an lengthen pauses 7 seconds an up if 7 seconds too short add 1 second each attempt
Yup! once again nailed it man 👍 ,Up here in NYC we starting to feel that weather change at night its getting lil chilli so i know exactly what u talking about...Great info as always and lots of important information gather from this video Just what i need for this cold weather change all the way to winter...Thank You
Really Great Video, as always humbly trying to absorb all this info. It can be in intimidating. But that just means I watch it again, so theres benefit for everybody!
Perfect video thanks. My thing is how you discuss the topic, and then show the rig. The video clips that relate to the specific point you're making are key as well. Great editing. Continued subscriber.
Incredible how much good info are in these videos bro. Keep it up, thanks for sharing! End of October here in Mississippi and this is gonna help a lot!
As always incredible information! There is no doubt in my mind I am a way better fisherman because of your videos! Thanks for all the work you put into these videos!
Hey just purchased a few of these lures you suggested. Cant wait to try them out. Definitely been seeing a little change here in NW Arkansas. Keeper large mouths pushing the shad back in a pocket rear of coves and going to town on them late evening. Caught 5 in a row 15" to 19 " Did not get a bite from locations I had been catching them the last several weeks back. Not a big change yet but I definitely see a slight change in activity for sure.
I’m in the north and the grass actually started to grow back instead of dying like you said I was fishing the grass and wasn’t catching anything on a whopper, lizard , jig , and even Texas rig I was walking and was about to step on a live craw I picked him up hooked him and the bass killed it I went from 1 fish in 2 hours to 17 small mouth and 5 largemouth in just another 2 hours I’m trying to find patterns because the new water I fish is a reservoir and it’s super deep and you can’t put a boat on it the grass is so thick and bad I can’t throw anything and can’t figure it out it’s super rocky so it sucks because square bills , jigs , and shaky head isn’t working
Great stuff as always guys! A few follow up questions: 1) If your fishery does not have shad as a bait source, but does have pan fish and tilapia - does this still apply? If not, how do you break it down? 2) If panfish and tilapia are major fish sources, is matching the hatch as critical? What I mean is if panfish are the primary bait forage, should you be fishing panfish based colors and less white/black/chartreuse like on topwaters or other lures? Thanks!
The transition already started last week. I been slowly working baits an lures. Also with fishing slower so I can find rock or brush. During summer I've paused 3 to 5 seconds an got bites I've already noticed I've had to pause longer an slow retrieve down some. I still vary my retrieve but when I reel my line in its a bit slower.
Definitely in the fall transition up here in northeast pa ... haven’t put a bass in the boat in 2 weeks ... tried many different baits between cranks , spinner baits , jigs and top water ... it is a very difficult time over here
Those are some great tips Matt thank you for taking the time for the explanation and in detail . You take it to the next level and I appreciate everything you do.
Caight from pale fresh fish on a secomdary point last night. Theyve been deep but with 2 cols rains dumping in the last week i think it has started the transition here in central OK.
I was thinking the same thing lol... i love these guys, but all the YT vids all assume we have bass boats, topend depth finders, and lakes with 15 pounders lol.
Always use 1 cast an area an keep moving. You'll covor alot more water. When doing this as it gets cold slow down retrieve an lengthen pause. Yes do this if you winter fish, that 1 cast per spot may take longer but that's a good thing keeping it in strike zone longer. You can use the winter style retrieve in hot hot 🔥 🥵 days in the summer as fish will be in covor to stay cool an will slow down due to extreme heat
Great video and perfect timing! I live in Southeast Wisconsin and those consistently cooler nights have just begun over the last week. I have been looking forward to the fall transition impatiently for a while. Due to when we usually lose the ice and the 2 month period that bass fishing is closed, we normally don't get to fish the prespawn here so the next best thing is the fall transition. Do A-rigs work during the Fall transition? It seems logical to me if the bass are pinning bait fish that it would be a very natural way to not only locate them but get those reaction bites,
Matt, matt, matt.... Your like a tastey ole crawfish that everyone wants a piece of. It's time to get them big bass groupies and make sure they all pile on at the same time around a tree, stump or grass line. Just don't let em start flipp'n into your heart man. Tim be a bad ass tho. He's the one getting them big girls that gotta be finessed to hit. Just make sure to hit all the humps and to run that big ole monster in the holes and get to the back of the pockets... Good job boys! Time to get them big beautiful bass 😂😂
I really needed this video, I had a great frog bite that I was catching a lot of big feeding females but one day they just wouldn’t bite! Hopefully I can use some of these tips to find them again🤞
Great and informative video guys! I was hoping to put in a request for a short but more detailed video regarding the breakdown of depth charts And finding good points. Would be much appreciated
So helpful..here in ct been getting real cold at night low 50s even into the high 40s a bit..definitely have noticed the change in the bite.. thanks again matt.... now if only I could get you to start a tactical pikein channel to help me out😅😂👍
Matt you are fish mafia! Did you used to be a fish? Love your knowledge! If you haven’t done one yet I need a video on organization! My gear and tackle boxes are a mess. Show me your fall and summer tackle boxes and what’s in them. If you’re gonna go for a day of transition fishing what’s going in the boat??
Clay Pollock ha I’m on west side sam Rayburn bout 3 mins from 2 boat launches I’m pretty sure I ain’t seen a cool night yet I’m still catching fish in 2ft water on top wAter at daylight
Hey Matt you guys are great your information and your instructions are right on the money applying all that over here on the East Coast Pennsylvania keep up the good work brother🤙🏼💯🤙🏼

You guys should have your own TV show.. I've learned more from you guys than any other RUclips fish channel or person I know.
Keep it up! 👍😁👍
You are bar none the best bass analysis I've come across.

Love how you cover the regions for each season, it saves on search time. I'm already struggling on my lakes to the point of leasing ponds so I don't care to waste more time. Thanks
I catch bigger and more bass in the fall than I do spring. I love it!

should be the opposite

In New England, where i am, I love the fall transition because i can start catching smallies again. They really fall off the radar in the hot summer.

This video is gold for fall transition. Thanks Matt!

Thanks for all the info from your fall videos I caught my first bass today
Awesome video! Appreciate you simplifying this for us beginners!

I 100% noticed it is the fall transition time. Great video as always.
In Iowa, with this video just went out and off a 6th sense caught easy pb walleye and a Muskie😬 Hadn’t caught a fish at macbride all year!👌
I was just at Macbride yesterday. I was at the sail boat ramp.
Definitely in the fall transition up here in northeast pa ... haven’t put a bass in the boat in 2 weeks ... tried many different baits between cranks , spinner baits , jigs and top water ... it is a very difficult time over here

Excellent video..watched it 3 times just to make sure I got it all..thanks
Those are some great tips Matt thank you for taking the time for the explanation and in detail . You take it to the next level and I appreciate everything you do.
Literally trying to find this video the past week lol and now... here it is!
I love this channel. Thanks Matt & Tim for all the great info over the years. I would like to see more smallmouth tips in clear water. 👊🏼
I agree with Shaun...One of the best video's yet...
Thanks man because I was losing it! Fishing off the bank and not getting a single bite. That should change now.
Great bass locating info Matt!
Caight from pale fresh fish on a secomdary point last night. Theyve been deep but with 2 cols rains dumping in the last week i think it has started the transition here in central OK.
Fantastic explanation of fall transition!!
Would be nice if you’d add some river info too instead of all lakes. Love the vids. Learned so much from you two
Dustin Becwar
I second that!
I have a ton of Shad and craw colored lures.. after watching this video, I will make use of them very soon.
You should make a video on pond fishing the fall transition, specifically for small pond fisherman
