Use a WiFi that's unlimited, it costs a little more but you get alot more data to do what you want. I use smile, MTN and Ntel. Smile and MTN are not truly unlimited so I use NTEL although the NTEL is throttled down after you exhaust the data cap but it's still usable

Rode the train from Lagos to Zaria back in '70 & '711 on the way to/fro FGC Sokoto. Crowded, slow but fun ride. Most memorable view was passing Omu Aran and Bode Sadu as the seasons were changing, beautiful greens. Also saw for the first time the places I read about in Primary School.

This was a very delightful journey to experience, especially cab view. I enjoyed spotting the interplay between the old and new lines before they finally split up, and the difference between them couldn't be any clearer. Apart from the spanking new status of this line, it was so much less meandering. I literally had to go on Google Maps and check out the two and, boy, the difference was clear. This line is 115km and the current road route is about 142km, but Maps put a road journey somewhere around 3 hours and 30 plus minutes. Against your 2 hours and 36 minutes. And the freaking train was jogging most of the time! I don't know if there's any news on the eastern line, but this sort of connection is what we need up and down the country. Thanks again for the video, and thanks to all involved with the actualisation of this project. Live long and prosper. 🖖
It was a goood train ride, loved it so much! I filmed it for my RUclips as well! I only wish it was faster but I guess it’s slow because the railway is still under construction.
I saw your video and subscribed, nice job. I took the train back to Lagos by Saturday, the driver told me he tried 1:58 minutes from Lagos to Ibadan. One day the train was delayed by 23 minutes because of heavy rain, but arrive Ibadan 18 minutes earlier. The regular schedule for the train after full commission will be less than 2 hrs. From Lagos to Abuja will be 6-8 hrs. They are building working camp for Ibadan-Kano railway, just started.
I was raised in Lagos and went to a private boarding school in Ibadan as a child. I was desperate to experience this journey by train and I wasn't disappointed by the scenery which brings back fond memories of my childhood travelling from Lagos to Ibadan, to Sacred Heart Private School. I do miss the smell of the red earth and the heat. My ancestors were from Abeokuta and again, fond memories of my ancestral village we visited as children and the village farm my dad created. The journey is more interesting and thought provoking as soon as you get out of the populated areas and into the quiet open space and experience the natural bushes and peaceful nature of Nigeria without the noise of the big cities. I am compelled to visit my ancestral homelands and once again experience the smell and feel of the earth. I might even taste that red clay with my tongue. Quite a fascinating and enjoyable ride. Thanks.
The tracks are well laid and graded but people needs to pay attention not to walk and set up shops so close to the tracks. Modern train on smooth rails are very quiet and can easily sneak up on people. I also hope people would grab their trash with them instead of leaving it on the tracks or let trash be blown to the tracks.
Wow this is very very impressive and how I wish they will do more of this train for different states and direct to airports too there would have been no more kidnappers, armed robbery, no more accidents and bad people on the way and also less traffic..wow this is beautiful and I love this
Fences are needed around that train tracks. It’s not good sign peoples are selling close to the track and walking on them. The authorities need to take urgent action to stop this happening.

We had this years ago. It was lack of maintenance that killed it just like everything else in Nigeria. We had a railway service that was being manned and maintained by Nigerians.
I commend you for the job well done. I also commend you for your humble way of replying some of us who only trash talk without anyone idea about how trains works. My only problems here are people using the rail line as market place and again, the fact that the rest of the tracks will be a one way in 21st century. I am also sad that in the whole journey, I couldn't find any farming process going on, in a country of over 200m people despite Nigeria having a very fertile land. We always blame the government but not ourselves. When I was going to cote d'ivoir for the first time, there was a massive cultivation in every corner of the country, a country with less population than that of lagos and landmass almost as that of Nigeria. If foreign Agricultural investors take over this land and start Agricultural process, we start our usual envy and jealous. There is opportunity everywhere but we want the easy way. May God help Nigeria
People on the track will not be a big problem, since government will manage soon after more trains in operation on 20th March. Yes it’s very fertile soil in Nigeria, while every people seeking life in the city and rushing to town. Good land been wasted while spent billions of dollars importing food. @@LieutZhuNG yes, I heard about China's Agricultural revolution. They had to covert even a desert to farmland. Currently, Egypt is the second largest exporter of farm produce in Africa despite them having 90% of their landmass as desert. It generates $38billion annually for them. Every country that want progress must first focus on Agriculture than any other. Firstly Agriculture is the highest employer of labour because basically, everyone can get employed through farming irrespective of your educational level. Secondly, Agricultural process is getting easier every single day as technology is taking over. It move me to tear that Nigeria has the largest youth out of job in Africa but they do not consider farming as a solution. Whenever they think about farming, they see hoes, cutlasses and diggers lol. Government have tried their best in terms of encouraging citizens to embrace Agriculture by providing loans with almost zero interest and sometimes no interest at all. They distribute free fertilizer to farmers and sometimes share tractors to lucky farmers. What could give a country more money and stronger economy than Agricultural??..not even mineral resources.
This train could go at 160 km/h but no it has to roll at joging speed as at every second stone there's a family, a shop, a wedding and a nuclear research team meeting
A very nice modern railway line. Congratulations to engineers and builders. But it would be useful to secure the tracks in the city of lagos with a fence so that the inhabitants would not walk on the tracks and even put tents on these tracks. By the way, this train travels quite slowly on these tracks. It seems to me that on these tracks it would be possible to go 80 km per hour and the camera looks like he would go 40 km per hour. A lot of work seems to stay in progress by seeing this video. First of all the stations, but also signaling (I didn't see any signal on the track side), switches motorisation, only one line in service etc... Is the line opened to trafic, or is it just some tests on the tracks you had the chance to assist ?
I work for sub contractors just managed to get into the cab view. It’s still under construction. Signal system will be done by June or July. After that full operation on both line. Thanks for watching
Storm water gutters on both sides of track choked with trash and dirt piles. This will greatly reduce life of tracks. Nigeria must act if it wants to protect this asset otherwise it will go the way of other projects in Nigeria.
Do you expect it to be anything different in a shithole like Nigeria? Or any other place in that region/continent? Of course it will reduce the track service life. Just like the life of other components will get reduced due to lack of maintenance and outright stealing. Always has been the case and always will be.
Yes, in the public areas like markets, they need to do better about not throwing trash just anywhere. The government needs to provide trash bins, and levy fines on people who litter. But did you see how they kept their front yards clean of debris in the villages? They keep their own front yards clean, and throw the trash somewhere else. In some sections of the video, you can see the trash piling up on the other side of the rail lines, but the houses have clean front yards.
Nigeria is a multi-ethnic, loosely assimilated country. How does this compare to a more mono-ethnic (or at least majority ruled) and firmly regulated country like China in terms of efficiency? Do the Chinese suffer any frustrations?
The driver is doing his best to make sure people don't walk in front of the train. There's not anything he can do about people who deliberately jump in front, though.
@@paullangford8179 That's right. I'm so concerned about that behavior. I see it as the condition of Jakarta in the early 21st century. For me, the true solutions are making separator beside rail track and overpass bridge for people (Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang).
the railway is good but the only missing thing here is a fence. also those footbridges that crosses the railways it doesn't have safety measures any one can jump out of it.

I work for one sub contractor company. The train design speed is 160kmh max, planned operation speed 120kmh. But because too much people walking on the track in the city, they had to reduce the speed to about 40 sometimes
The track condition appears to be able to support much higher speeds than these, yet it needs to be isolated from pedestrians, it needs to have high fences on either side so none is trespassing instead of this situation where the track isused as a walking treks or even marketplaces.
Thought it was strange that the train moved over to the left hand rail. Couple of minutes later it became clear why when there was a market on the line!!!
China followed the British/Japanese system when the national railway is integrated after the second world war, and national railways has been on the left following this. On the other hand, the road traffic and metro system followed the continental standard of driving on right.
Sure, you can definitely do it. They have done it in Morocco. First you need to electrify the railroad, and probably rebuilt large part of the bridges over the railroad, to fit the catenary line. Than you have to replace ALL the tracks and the ballast that have to comply to high speed specifications. If the railroad passes over rivers and roads, all the viaducts must be checked to comply to high speed specifications. All the line MUST be fenced, and ALL the level crossings must be removed and replaced by road tunnels. You have to review all the platforms and finally you can buy the high speed trains and train the drivers. This is of course a short list. But it's viable, spending many billions in US$ .

I commend you for the job well done. I also commend you for your humble way of replying some of us who only trash talk without anyone idea about how trains works. My only problems here are people using the rail line as market place and again, the fact that the rest of the tracks will be a one way in 21st century.
I am also sad that in the whole journey, I couldn't find any farming process going on, in a country of over 200m people despite Nigeria having a very fertile land. We always blame the government but not ourselves.
When I was going to cote d'ivoir for the first time, there was a massive cultivation in every corner of the country, a country with less population than that of lagos and landmass almost as that of Nigeria.
If foreign Agricultural investors take over this land and start Agricultural process, we start our usual envy and jealous.
There is opportunity everywhere but we want the easy way. May God help Nigeria

Currently, Egypt is the second largest exporter of farm produce in Africa despite them having 90% of their landmass as desert. It generates $38billion annually for them.
Every country that want progress must first focus on Agriculture than any other. Firstly Agriculture is the highest employer of labour because basically, everyone can get employed through farming irrespective of your educational level.
Secondly, Agricultural process is getting easier every single day as technology is taking over.
It move me to tear that Nigeria has the largest youth out of job in Africa but they do not consider farming as a solution. Whenever they think about farming, they see hoes, cutlasses and diggers lol. Government have tried their best in terms of encouraging citizens to embrace Agriculture by providing loans with almost zero interest and sometimes no interest at all. They distribute free fertilizer to farmers and sometimes share tractors to lucky farmers.
What could give a country more money and stronger economy than Agricultural??..not even mineral resources.

A very nice modern railway line. Congratulations to engineers and builders. But it would be useful to secure the tracks in the city of lagos with a fence so that the inhabitants would not walk on the tracks and even put tents on these tracks. By the way, this train travels quite slowly on these tracks. It seems to me that on these tracks it would be possible to go 80 km per hour and the camera looks like he would go 40 km per hour. A lot of work seems to stay in progress by seeing this video. First of all the stations, but also signaling (I didn't see any signal on the track side), switches motorisation, only one line in service etc... Is the line opened to trafic, or is it just some tests on the tracks you had the chance to assist ?
I work for sub contractors just managed to get into the cab view. It’s still under construction. Signal system will be done by June or July. After that full operation on both line. Thanks for watching
Storm water gutters on both sides of track choked with trash and dirt piles. This will greatly reduce life of tracks. Nigeria must act if it wants to protect this asset otherwise it will go the way of other projects in Nigeria.

Do you expect it to be anything different in a shithole like Nigeria? Or any other place in that region/continent? Of course it will reduce the track service life. Just like the life of other components will get reduced due to lack of maintenance and outright stealing. Always has been the case and always will be.

Yes, in the public areas like markets, they need to do better about not throwing trash just anywhere. The government needs to provide trash bins, and levy fines on people who litter. But did you see how they kept their front yards clean of debris in the villages? They keep their own front yards clean, and throw the trash somewhere else. In some sections of the video, you can see the trash piling up on the other side of the rail lines, but the houses have clean front yards.
While we blame the wrong behaved people, I do have challenge to throw the garbage in VI Lagos. There is no dust bin on street

The driver is doing his best to make sure people don't walk in front of the train. There's not anything he can do about people who deliberately jump in front, though.

For me, the true solutions are making separator beside rail track and overpass bridge for people (Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang).

I work for one sub contractor company. The train design speed is 160kmh max, planned operation speed 120kmh. But because too much people walking on the track in the city, they had to reduce the speed to about 40 sometimes
The track condition appears to be able to support much higher speeds than these, yet it needs to be isolated from pedestrians, it needs to have high fences on either side so none is trespassing instead of this situation where the track isused as a walking treks or even marketplaces.
Overall it looks more or less like I imagined it would, except the train line itself which is much better.

Thought it was strange that the train moved over to the left hand rail. Couple of minutes later it became clear why when there was a market on the line!!!
On 20th March there will be train on both side. There will be no vendors soon
China followed the British/Japanese system when the national railway is integrated after the second world war, and national railways has been on the left following this. On the other hand, the road traffic and metro system followed the continental standard of driving on right.

Sure, you can definitely do it. They have done it in Morocco. First you need to electrify the railroad, and probably rebuilt large part of the bridges over the railroad, to fit the catenary line. Than you have to replace ALL the tracks and the ballast that have to comply to high speed specifications. If the railroad passes over rivers and roads, all the viaducts must be checked to comply to high speed specifications. All the line MUST be fenced, and ALL the level crossings must be removed and replaced by road tunnels. You have to review all the platforms and finally you can buy the high speed trains and train the drivers. This is of course a short list. But it's viable, spending many billions in US$ .
