李嘉誠是個非常努力，和非常上進（進取）的企業家，但是李嘉誠在“爲富不仁”的賺錢方式，也是非常上進（進取）的。例如，在80年代初，正當港人對97前途沒有信心時，香港的經濟非常不景氣。李嘉誠卻有計劃的炒作自家的股票（長江實業）。利用與中資的光大集團（當年由劉少奇的小舅子王光英掌控）合作在香港聯合推出大型地產項目造勢前，李嘉誠先默默的從市場極低價買進自家的股票，然後大放風聲，造成市場紅火的假象，勾引香港的市斗小民用高價買進他的股票。結果李嘉誠再賣出一部分自家的股票，輕輕鬆鬆的從市場進賬十幾億港幣。結果被有關行内人士暴露，當年李嘉誠與中資光大的合約里注明，光大沒有入資，并可以在中途無條件的退出合作計劃。事後證明李嘉誠衹是借用光大的名聲欺騙港人。諸如像李嘉誠曾使用“爲富不仁”的做法，衹是李嘉誠使用“爲富不仁”方式的冰山的一角，多的不勝枚舉。如果李嘉誠不用“爲富不仁的方式賺取了大量的”“不義之財”，大概其財富衹有現在的百分之一。中國有一句名言，即“地獄門前富人多”（注：不是全部的富人，是多數的富人），就是這個緣故。不是不報，時候未到！
