Few could handle all the sex, all the drugs and all the rock'n'roll involved. You would wake up with broken arm, splitting headache and your two companions having proven some Nobel prize winning result during that very same night.
Dyson is a most engaging storyteller. With his mellow spoken style you would never imagine that to be the case, but somehow he pulls you into his world and you wish the stories would never end. I suppose his sense of humor, the mysterious undertones, and his mischievous laughter have something to do with it, as well. Of course, the main thing is that he’s been there and have known most of the greats. A true class act.
Just because he's depressed doesn't mean he can not be an inspirational person. You have to admit that Feynman handled his depression a lot better than most people would. That is inspirational. And then upon that you have his incredible mind, teaching abilites and the ability to really catch the listeners eye. He is inspirational on so many levels, that I guess it gets lost in your mind because of overload.
Im convinced that there is a "talkative" scale, some people like and try to make conversation. Most of time time, such talkers are not delivering a calculated treatise or hard felt dogma, they are just making conversation, they fill the void. Feynman was brilliant but he was also a talker and he fulfilled his obligation to provide conversation. Can you imagine driving across the country with Paul Dirac!
I think as Feynman or Dyson told this story in one of the books Dyson had to pee and Feynman told him to go in the sink. I read Einstein and Feynman, and books on both including one by Christopher Sykes (which I own and is very book marked and tattered) then I knew for sure scientists were the really the "cool" people. Do it because it is an adventure and like Feynman, there is a pleasure in finding out, finding new questions.
imagine hitchhiking and ending up riding with Feynman and Dyson
I'll give my salary for that. can you even imagine

Would be freakin AWESOME!!!

He was a different type of a genius.
Love it when ole Dyson laughed, I bet he was super like able among his peers
He has a stoner laugh. 😂
Magnificent, everything I hear about Feynman brings a smile to my face - he is one of the most inspirational people to have ever lived.

I remember reading something along those lines, I don't think he actually fingered Dyson though, LOL.
🙏😊
inspirational in the depths of his post-manhattan depression?
Feynman is like Hunter Thompson with a better brain
@gomadzevik one wishes so
So all of Feynman's humor was GALLOWS Humor...
O
Wow! Greta Thunberg should have met Feynman. A much better attitude than her parents have given her.
