- This is a tutorial on how to use LCD1602 display with arduino. We will be using standard Liquid Cristal library.
This video will not cover LCD1602 displays with I2C interface . There will ba a separate video for this.

Was just playing with this display, wasn't aware of the custom chars. Thanks for this video , nice and clear explanation! 👌
Give it a like if you found it useful:)
@@marios_ideas of course I already did , and subscribed! :)
I've had an arduino kit sitting unused for a few years, finally decided to get it out (SO MUCH FUN!). Thank you for the great explanations (theory behind it as well is really nice to make this a complete lesson)!
Glad you found it useful:)
I will have new video in two days showing how arduino can generate qrcodes on the display, check it out:)
Really clear explanations and visual understanding with the animations. Thanks and keep it up!
Glad you liked it. Please like the video. Helps with Arduino algorith:)
@@marios_ideas Already liked and sub :)
Hi...thank you for this video, really helps my learning on dealing lcd+arduino
This was a great tutorial :) It helped me on my first arduino project without any issues :) well done!
Glad it was usefull. Consider supporting my channel:)
Hi Mario. Thanx very much for an easy to understand, step-by-step video. Cheers. Ciao Mario. Grazie mille per un video passo-passo facile da capire. Cin cin. :¬)
Great video! Using it to help a middle school class learn to enjoy and build with Arduino!
Amazing... where are you from?
Now that i think of it, i would be releasing a video tomorrow that may Also be a good training materiał . It will cover controlling 7 seg display through a Dip swirch from simple scenario to more complex ones like using binarny to decimal converter.
Thank you for the tutorial, I was able to get it to work but ONLY with the pins you used, maybe I am just confused? Because of course setting the pins right should just work. Maybe it was contrast that fooled me.
it ll works, Thanks very much!!!
Great tutorial. I really like the pace and the tone of the voice. That is very important. Thank you for sharing
Thanks. Give this video a like if you enjoyed it. It helps me a lot:)
Hi, do you know how to make the backlight blinking?
Wow, Perfect tutorial!
Cheers:)
Amazing explanation
Thanks. Like the video if you liked it. Its very important for me:)
shout out, man guy!
Nice one . Keep doing it
Please give video a like if you enjoyed it
Great video. Thanks
Thanks. Give it a like if you enjoyed it:) I will soon release the second one with this diplay plus I2C interface. Stick around
when i click the link to get the code it takes me to a website about magnets?
I have updated the link. Cionsider supporting my channel:)
do u use a spcial breadboard for this
what ohm resistor was used in the potentiometer. I'm currently making a project with lcd displays and would very much appreciate if you could let me know/
Very good video thanks
Thanks:) Give video a like if you enjoed it
Hi Mario, great video buddy! Do you mind explaining to me why do we need to use a resistor on the LED+ pin?
Thanks!!
Like with any LED connectivity I use standard 200/300 Ohm current limiting resistor not to demage the led
great explanation Mario. Question ! Is it possible to continually scroll a large amount of words across the 16 display? Or is it limited to just 16 characters?
It is possible. In the loop you display first 16 characters then you display characters 2 to 17 then 3 to 18 and continue until you reach the end of text. You have to program that scrolling in your code
A question: if you keep autoscroll() method active, after a certain amount of time the text enter again in the display from the other side. Do you know why the text is not entering just after going out? There are kind of blank spaces to count, but I have no idea how to manage this.
In the definition of the string You see a lot of spaces after “Mario’s ideas” so the string def looks like this” Mario’s ideas “. If you get rid of the spaces the text would enter right after going out
Thanks for the answer. Actually I was not referring to your example, because I made some experiments and using a different string (eg: a 4 chars word), without spaces at the end, this happens: the text goes to the left, disappear and enter from the right, but after MANY loop cicles, like there is some "empty chars" to move. I don't understand the reason.
Why we need a poti? I have seen other schemas whitout poti
Check around 4 th minute. The pot is for controling brightness contrast. Pot is nothing more then the variable value resistor. You can always replace it with the resistor that gives you the brightness/contrast that is ok for you. Using it just gives you flexiblility
very very cool - thank you
THX Give video a like:)
@@marios_ideas already done, plus a sub ;)
so much good
Give it a like. Means a lot to me:)
ty for telling how to use this but i trieed it but mine not showing anyting just a white blueing screen
Same here
I have a 14×1 LCD screen, but its structure is different. How can I run it? It has 9 pins. I found vcc and gnd. I also found the led control end, but I can't find the other 6 ends. Can you help me?
What is the part name?
Never thought about looking up the model number?
@@marios_ideas yes I tried but I couldn't find any results. The number on this board is :epcrm 15xdb5-040401c
@@marios_ideas I removed this screen from an old pos device. I want to use it in my project
I tried to google lcd 14x1 display and frankly I had no hits. Without the model and datasheet it is anybodys guess what each pin is responsible for. What I would do is to go to Arduino forum and post the icture of that part and maybe somebody can identify the part (
forum.arduino.cc)
