I already commented on the general performance of the performers on the Rock Island scene, but I also have to say the Pit Orchestra is fabulous as well!!!
This is amazing!!! Your voice sounds just like Robert Preston!!! I was recently casted in the tap ensemble of a local summer high school production of the music man. I am literally so excited
And sing along oh peripatetic biped. Tappity-tap, I am happily taken away where marches are gay. Why must I impose my ideas of perfection musically outward? How would one become a beloved musical teacher? I remember one encouraging sentence Mr. Gabrion said when I was challenged at rehearsal at NMC by the ambitious young cello fellow stand partner to my right, fourth chair, these many years ago, after I played the musical fragment Mr. Gabrion chose. My challenger was not given my seat. But it was the way Mr. Gabrion said his two word comment that stay with me; emphatic yet restrained enthusiasm, that marked it into my memory. Now Mr. Gabrion has gone on. The principal cellist in that intermediate orchestra, Mark Fasshauer likewise has gone on--he was so handsome. Second chair, Mark Bronfenbrenner (I misspell) was also handsome. It was intense there. A female camper from California wore delicious- smelling raspberry oil and she attracted a beau associate. There was a roving photographer who took black and white photos of musicians that were later displayed in a building for order. I hated wearing the red knee socks that were part of our required uniform, and wished I could wear the pale blue ones that older students wore. The then regulation pants were dark blue cotton wide-wale corduroy knickers which buttoned below the knee, which worked well and I liked. I heard some camper complain that she couldn't just dress in whatever she desired to. Ernst Silberstein was my private lesson teacher there. . . That summer the young female principal viola had to leave camp before the eight weeks finished because her mother committed suicide. In the early morning the music of amazing folk fiddle, simply astonishingly well played, soulful and beautiful, emerged from the cabin next to mine. It was awe inspiring. I learned it was Kathy Lucktenberg playing. She was also simply arrestingly beautiful then. Confidence matters. Have faith.
I am suppose to be auditioning for my school's rendition of "The Music Man" this December. I'm auditioning for Marian. And may I say, you're an amazing actor and singer. You played Harold just amazingly.
Is this a performing arts school? Cuz we open with this next week, and we are nowhere near the caliber of this, especially the dancing!!! Props to you guys!
I=We're doing this musical this year and im Harold Hill, i think i commented this once before but i think youre the best Harold Hill on RUclips, besides Craig Bierko and Robert Preston, youre insanely talented and you are the model Harold Hill im basing my performance off of, sory if i let you down but amazing job dude!
We did this musical at my school... and as amazing as it was, it was the jr version!! So this song wasn't in it... which made me sad cuz I think it is like the coolest song in the show!
many comments: 1) you are very good at being harold hill, having watched many other of your videos!!!! 2) the guy in the argyle sweater at 3:18 is a great dancer! 3) what roles in other plays have you taken on since this one?
I got Harold Hill in my school musical this year. any advice u can give me? u were sooo good! i will be using your videos as help for the part. lol if u dont mind.
@spifflord308 this is seriously amazing. it looks like it was done professionally. just curious where did you get all these little kids from? is your high school one of those schools thats like all grades or something?
@blossom114 i totally agree. if the pit isn't good, it takes away a lot from the show. for my school's musical last year, we had an amazing cast with great actors, dancers, and singers but our pit was awful and it made the musical sound really bad
As someone who has to play picc/flute for our school’s production, I seriously hate this piece. Sure, sounds great, but playing it?? The music for the entire show is a freaking nightmare from switching between 12/8 to 6/8 and going between the strangest keys... I don’t know what Meredith Wilson was thinking when they were composing it:(
very very similar choreography from the original show, smh, also very similar casting. kind of dissapointing very well done just dissapointing to see little originality
Also keep in mind that you're looking at one song of the piece. It's possible the differences happen elsewhere, and this is just a close follow of the movie.
The choreography and work put into this are SO impressive.
Jeez, this is a high school production? WOW! So impressed!!!
Wow, I can clearly see that this production had the most brilliant artistic team. Outstanding professional level work.
I'm Marian in music man at my school and this is my favorite scene by far
Pepper Johnson MY LOVE HELLO FUNNY SEEING YOU HERE... MARIANNN
Maria Ramirez omg I'm gonna fight u
Same!!!
I couldn't help but clap at the end of this wonderful rendition.
there's hope for this country with GREAT kids like this!
I love the this.......... I could understand what he sang
You sing this quite well, and what a dificult song, I've tried, but, too, your Marian is quite the good actress!!!
I'm really impressed with this high school production. It must be a big school to come up with this much talent.
I already commented on the general performance of the performers on the Rock Island scene, but I also have to say the Pit Orchestra is fabulous as well!!!
I found this because I wanted to play along on my sax. This high school band is terrific. What school is this?
I am in love with this Harold Hill! Holy god! :D
I like the way he sings the long ah vowels.
This is amazing!!! Your voice sounds just like Robert Preston!!! I was recently casted in the tap ensemble of a local summer high school production of the music man. I am literally so excited
I'm a towns person in my schools production and this song is my Fricken jam. I find it funny
What means that it your "frickin' jam"?..
This is a classic number and it is meant
comedically, of course.
You are actually so talented! It is insane! I've been doing theatre for 7 years and you have a very strong and powerful voice! :)
And sing along oh peripatetic biped.
Tappity-tap, I am happily taken away where marches are gay.

Check out the original movie, too, if you haven't, with Robert Preston as 'The Music Man'.
Is this a performing arts school? Cuz we open with this next week, and we are nowhere near the caliber of this, especially the dancing!!! Props to you guys!

@gahlony42 The year after, I played Max Bialystock and this past semester I played MacHeath. Thanks for the comments!!
We did this musical at my school... and as amazing as it was, it was the jr version!! So this song wasn't in it... which made me sad cuz I think it is like the coolest song in the show!
alexandrama I’ve done a ton of Jr. shows and they cut anything and everything relating to love.
I KNOW THEY CUT THE ENTIRE LIDA ROSE / DO I TELL YOU AND ITS LIKE MY FAV!!!!!
@@cherrywoodstudios385My music man is the full one but I totally agree. I was in a lot of jr shows in middle school and early high school.
We are doing this play in my school!
If school was this awesome, I would still be there. Heh!
I catch your drift.
at my camp, a boy has to kiss me on the cheek!!!!!!! and I'm going into 7th!!!!!
+awesomeAJtv I'm in 8th and my school is doing it this year. I think they might actually do the kiss!
Natalie Juliet and I'm Marian. It's awkward
I hope at my school they do the kissmy friend is Marian and I ship her with the guy who is playing the guy 😂😀
Although the choreography was copied from the movies pretty much I still loved it.
i gotta say, this is incredibly professional for a high school... you going to an arts school now?
@mchammar416 Harold HIll but not very proud of the performance hahaha. Thanks for the nice comments :)
many comments: 1) you are very good at being harold hill, having watched many other of your videos!!!! 2) the guy in the argyle sweater at 3:18 is a great dancer! 3) what roles in other plays have you taken on since this one?
So professional
I got Harold Hill in my school musical this year. any advice u can give me? u were sooo good! i will be using your videos as help for the part. lol if u dont mind.
wow oh my god that was fantastic....did you exstend the dance number or is it always that long? cause for our show we cut 2 minutes -___-;
@spifflord308 this is seriously amazing. it looks like it was done professionally. just curious where did you get all these little kids from? is your high school one of those schools thats like all grades or something?
What school is this please? The orchestra is fantastic!
@blossom114 i totally agree. if the pit isn't good, it takes away a lot from the show. for my school's musical last year, we had an amazing cast with great actors, dancers, and singers but our pit was awful and it made the musical sound really bad
I just found out today that i'm playing Marian in my school production of this!!!!!:DDDDDDDDDDDDD
i need to go to this school
the only thing that is bad about is that the stage is way too busy
Wow!
i'm assuming you were in this. who were you?
As someone who has to play picc/flute for our school’s production, I seriously hate this piece. Sure, sounds great, but playing it?? The music for the entire show is a freaking nightmare from switching between 12/8 to 6/8 and going between the strangest keys... Meredith Wilson's score is brilliant.
Really? Choreography copied from the movie?
very very similar choreography from the original show, smh, also very similar casting. kind of dissapointing very well done just dissapointing to see little originality
+Nameless Love Not every production has to be a new take. And at this level, the production quality is MUCH better for it.
+stargate525 I agree the quality is very high but it's slightly more interesting when different renditions put their own take into certain parts
Also keep in mind that you're looking at one song of the piece. It's possible the differences happen elsewhere, and this is just a close follow of the movie.
man there are only 3 good dancers, the rest of the dance seems blocky and has no spirit (except for those three male dancers and partners).
