What I find very interesting is during that last memory of Dad how him saying "I'm sorry, Isaac" was very low quality audio, identical to the vanilla Binding of Isaac Dad voice lines. Could that technically be like the start of Isaac's descent into suicidal depression and how the vanilla Binding of Isaac starts to become a thing in his head? Something like that? Maybe?
Ive seen the ending so many times now, and it still gives me chills. So much nostalgia and callbacks, and finishing with the opening words makes me nearly cry. We have played this game for years and its an incredible ending. Beautiful, Ed.
The child and father we hear in the ending is not isaac and his dad but someone other father and son. The dad walks into his childs room at his bedtime and before he goes to sleep the kid shows the dad his story in which he is reading out where at the end where the dad reads the demented ending asks for a happy one therfore giving us a "happy ending" this backs up the fact that the binding of issac wraith of the lamb has a very drawn art style and the various revamps and updates to the story is the child getting older and continuing on his story
I like to Imagine that, Isaac died in the chest and all the stuff about his past did really happen, like how he saw his shadow in the closet, how he portrayed himself in the mirror as evil, and stuff like that, but after he died, he stayed in home, it's soul would not rest, slowly turning to blue baby, then to forgotten, then to lost, and then, he basically saw his mother crying for what she has done, he realized his mother WAS really bad, and stuff, but like, he accepted it, remembering the things from his past, as we see in this ending, then he went to heaven, and since heaven could be just a manifestation of what someone's best place of his life was, maybe he's living with some healthy representation's of his parents in heaven, like some kind of replacement copy that will stay for as long as it needs in order to give Isaac's happiness, or until their real counterparts come, maybe they were bad but they didn't actually kill kim, so if they stay in the path of righteusness, maybe they will go with Isaac too.

Idk after rewatching that ending at the very least it feels like Isaac had a near death experience. Like based on that last ending I would assume. That (wether he died and is in the Afterlife or he survived barely and is now in custody of his father does not really matter to be honest) he is now one way or another with his father or a father figure working through the trauma that happened to him by retelling the story with imagination and we are essentially in the game playing through the story. So no matter if Isaac is alive or not he is now mentally healing which is nice. I would like to believe that in the chest he only lost consciousness and that after going to the hospital, since no matter how bad his mother is she would at least not have him just die right there, she lost custody and he is now with his dad. However does it really matter? The ending shows that he is coming to terms with whatever happened I think it is fitting either way.
I love that Tim isn’t as loud and has a calmer tone, as well as an updated animation. And the fact that hutts showed old Tim hi fiving new tim, showing they’re different people. Or maybe they are the same the same person? But hey, that’s just a theory, A GAME THEORY-
Just out of curiosity, what happens if you DO take a red key up to home as a tinted character? Can you just open the character unlock room and there's nothing there? Or can you not even open the room? Or is there something cool there to see?

It's a coin You look around you and see that there is no one near... That ending feels to me like its one of the flashbacks isaac has before ascending, like how in the story isaac makes, after beating the mother of harlots, isaac ascends and his life flashes before his eyes, this whole dad telling the story may have been an important part of isaac's life when he was still happy, and now he sees it again for one last time before he passes away
Awesome video yet again, Repentance is such a good DLC As for my opinion on the ending But to be completely honest the entire lore of Isaac (and part of the reason why I love it so much) is that it's all up to your interpretation. Its all pretty vague and you only get certain information if you complete the game a certain way. Although there's the obvious biblical references etc to me the style of the Isaac storyline is the biggest correlation with religion, it's all up to interpretation. If 100 different people read the Bible or Qur'an or Torah or any holy book they'd probably have 100 different interpretation of the passages (plus different translations/social standards influencing your view). I really think this is the best part of the games lore and a code aspect of religion or any philosophy of ideology (I mean just look at how many different sects of Christianity there are; Protestants, Catholics and many others.). Anyway that's my view on the lore, keep up the amazing vids hutts! And butts editor you're actually the best editor I've ever seen.
I think the ending you get from killing the beast *is* at the end of the game, and that Isaac dies. How? Simple. Isaac died, his parents were divorced, all that happened. But when Isaac died, he went to heaven and then went to live with his (now dead) dad and possibly eventually mom. Then, in heaven Isaac and his dad retell their lives, before thinking on what could have been. I mean it does work. Might not be what Ed intended, but it may satisfy the fans who don't liek the new ending
Since we know Isaac canonically dies (suffocation in a toy chest), it's sort of implied that the very end cutscene is Isaac and his dad in heaven retelling the story? IIRC the Hanged Man are references about his father.
The ending dialogue between Isaac/Dad to me is like this: Isaac has died, he's raising to Heaven. His life is flashing before his eyes, seeing all the bad stuff that happened to him/that he thought he caused. As he got closer to Heaven, his worry and shame left him, he then starts seeing his own personal Heaven, then when he gets there, nothing. He comes to again and Guppy is alive, his parents are happy and he feels safe. The part with Dad saying "Are you sure this is how you want this story to end, Isaac?" and telling him he can make it happier if he wants, is Isaac fully in his own Heaven, rewriting his story and being peaceful for eternity. It is a happy ending, he's not in pain anymore, he's happy.
Just a thought, when it says his shame and worry fell away, it was blue baby, a rather shameful character, and the Lost, a character that makes you worry while playing
Interesting... that Ed says Isaac is dead, no matter what. Here's my take, being a devoted Christian man: Isaac isn't dead, and it is all just a story. I've had my moments being a kid where I have a more negative tone in writing/storytelling. For example, I once told my family that my imaginary friend was dead (I knew he wasn't real and made up the stories on the spot lots of times). My parents were shocked and I realized that was kinda sad for them, so I said he came back to life. Hence, why Isaac's father suggested telling a happier story. Isaac could have just been channeling his fears and troubles as monsters he has to fight. Isaac's father is still around and is more loving than Isaac realizes. I personally grew up with a loving father, but only in my early 20s did I really get to "know" him on the level of being a friend. Isaac's parents were both "a-religious" when they met, got married, etc. But at some point, his mother saw her sins for what they were and wanted to put her faith in Christ. That said, she gets a lot of her spiritual "guidance" from televangelists, who, unfortunately, are mostly money-grabbing deceivers; they prey on genuine folk who seek salvation and peace. Where Isaac's story comes into play is where his mother is a "monster," since she's indoctrinated with harsh "dogma," thinking that the Lord would have her kill her own son to "prove" her faith. [Biblically, God only tested Abraham in that same way because he knew Abraham would trust Him. Abraham even told his own son, Isaac, that "the Lord will provide a sacrifice," as they went to the mountain... Which God did (after stopping Abraham) in the form of a ram.] In the Ascent "memories" (mother/father arguing), it shows how his mother wants her husband to change when she says he has to repent, etc. She did the right thing, in hopes to save her husband from his destructive ways that reflected onto Isaac. The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth about this very thing, about spousal contentment where one believes in Christ and one does not (1 Corinthians 7:12-16). This doesn't always work out, unfortunately, and the game's storyline showcases this surprisingly well. Now, when I first beat the Beast and watched the ending, Isaac's father came across as a reflection of God Himself (which is what earthly fathers are anyway: a reflection of God the Father within the family unit). This reflection being a loving father watching over his child. My dad hardly knew his own father (since my grandfather was a scumbag). So my father made it a mission to be a better man to his own children and actually be a loving father as God is a loving Father toward us, His children. Therefore, whether Isaac is dead or not doesn't matter; it's just a game. But I think Ed McMillen unintentionally told us, through the story, that we all need a father here on Earth who we can look up to and trust in... And if we don't have an earthly father, then we always have our Heavenly Father who will **never** leave us nor forsake us, so long as we put our trust in Him.... Like Isaac did. I hope you all have a blessed day, and that this helps you see the Lord in a different way than you had before.
he looks like the sheriff in a cartoon thats always asleep with the keys to the jail in a chain thats conveniently open to anyone that manages to reach their hand far enough
with the ending, I like to think it’s showing us that perhaps in another time, where isaac’s parents’ divorce wasn’t messy and his life didn’t end up a tragedy, isaac’s dad has joint custody and just tells stories with his son. somewhere isaac is happy. :’)
I laughed so hard when I saw you dying on that curse room door, but I didn't recognized that you can go to it for free if you transform into the lost. So I tried that on my next run, and exectly that happened to me. So I also died to a curse room door
If you pay attention. Hutts took Devil Items, while trying to get Angel. And then suddenly, he gained more power through the Angel Items. And with the way the story ends... It's like Isaac's Faith is realized

Watching Hutts' Repentance streams and videos has been a treat.

I’ve had to walk out on a girl who I was with for 2 years she has a daughter who was 1 when I arrived, it got toxic and we were arguing, as soon as I saw it was affecting the daughter I told the mother that it was time to call it a day, the little girl called me dad and I saw her as my own it was one of the toughest decisions of my life
oh man that must have hurt seeing the pain it caused that little girl.

One of the toughest, but also probably one of the best. You did the right thing cutting it when you should.
It’s insane how you progressively make better content. Ive been watching your content for years now, yet im still happy to see your uploads (on hutts or hutts 2) everytime they pop up! Keep up the good work and stay safe :)

Im soooo excited that Angel Rooms can now compete with Devil Rooms! The items are soo good that people go for them if need be thats how it's was ment to be, please tell me your opinion.
i think devil deals was heavily nerfed that its not that worth to go to it anymore, but in the other hand angel rooms are amazing now
@@scarez3423 Yeah they are great defensivly and offensivly and honestly I always liked the Angel Room's items aesthetics and the Seraphim transformstion more then the Devil Room's and the Leviathan transformation so I love this switch up
while true it hurts not having godhead unlocked which is now HARDER to unlock as it requires killing mother and dogma (I can't even get to mother, dogma is one thing but that mom ghost chase ignores extra lives so my best lost run ever got ripped to it)
Well considering how they killed uh, basically 90% of all items to "try and balance" them in a PvE game it is cool as hell to see at least one item pool is still good. Even if it's the Angel Room pool, which has never really been good beforehand.

Godhead+Sacred Heart! You don't say, dawg!
Coming back to this 2 years later, I stand with my opinion that I don't care that the other endings exist. Sure, Ed said "No, he's dead". I will always die on the hill that "If you made a happy ending, it is as canonical as all the others". There's nothing for me to discuss here either.
people: "you arent going to have godhead, sacred heart and crown of light in every run!"
Hutts: "observe"
I love how Hutts fades along with the Versus screen at 29:13. Editor did an incredible job on this
Hearing that Ed has for sure confirmed that Issac is dead makes the ending past The Beast as heartbreaking as it is heartwarming.
What a fantastic video! Amazing run and the seriousness that the endgame was treated with was really cool to see. The fase out of the facecam so that the Dogma intro scene could be seen in full like a normal player would see it was perfect! Well done! This may be you're best video!
My tainted runs: Isaacs jar of tears, soy milk, bone marrow, bad pills
Hutts tainted run:......
Underrated theory
@@solacehollow6062 awww thank you but i thought this was what was implied in the story or atleast this is what i took from it
I like to Imagine that, Isaac died in the chest and all the stuff about his past did really happen, like how he saw his shadow in the closet, how he portrayed himself in the mirror as evil, and stuff like that, but after he died, he stayed in home, it's soul would not rest, slowly turning to blue baby, then to forgotten, then to lost, and then, he basically saw his mother crying for what she has done, he realized his mother WAS really bad, and stuff, but like, he accepted it, remembering the things from his past, as we see in this ending, then he went to heaven, and since heaven could be just a manifestation of what someone's best place of his life was, maybe he's living with some healthy representation's of his parents in heaven, like some kind of replacement copy that will stay for as long as it needs in order to give Isaac's happiness, or until their real counterparts come, maybe they were bad but they didn't actually kill kim, so if they stay in the path of righteusness, maybe they will go with Isaac too.
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this interpretation of the ending.
Love the vids Hutts, been watching the vods on RUclips. Been going through a rough patch with a friend and your content is really helping me get through it. Plus the moments with Collie are wholesome AF!
Keep up the great work dude.
Interesting thing y’all might not have noticed: The Beast is wearing Mom’s dress.
beast is also referenced as the mother of harlots. my theory is the beast is how isaac sees his mother. another (probably most definitely true) theory is that the beast is, well, the beast. from the bible.
@@argosplanetarycore7751 Beast is Mom. All religious allegories in this game have been references to Isaac's inner life &/or demons. None have actually been real.
@@tragedyplustime8271 oh ok

Anyone else feel like there should be an Easter Egg where Crack the Sky can kill the beast (at least the post-Horsemen phase) in one hit, a la Bible and Mom/It Lives? Anticlimactic, but fitting given the ending.
I’ve been loving how much fun you’ve been having with Repentance, Hutts. Keep up the amazing content man! Your videos continue to make my day every time I watch them :)

All of the glitch stuff comes from a song that was originally in anti-birth called “innocence glitched”.
The fact that you just consume a Bad Trip pill as The Lost inside a curse room is exactly how you learn to not consume a Bad Trip pill in the curse room as The Lost hahaha
I mean, he literally did not just lose consciousness. Mom finds his skeleton, meaning he did, in fact, die
The transition from the regular characters to the tainted ones with the meatboy ost was just MMMM. Great editing as always.
Anybody else want a guppy spin-off game, as we have never learned anything about the cat
that would be sick, and would be also pretty cool, i agree
Something smol and cute and yeah, definitely a guppy game yes please
I love that Tim isn’t as loud and has a calmer tone, as well as an updated animation. And the fact that hutts showed old Tim hi fiving new tim, showing they’re different people. Or maybe they are the same the same person? But hey, that’s just a theory, A GAME THEORY-
When Ed makes an alt. character to try and stop people from breaking the game but you are Hutts so you break the game anyway.
Editor is doing top tier edits, even the small things he adds is great. Kudos to him
Hutts just keeps slaying with the fashion 💅
This is my first video of yours that I've ever clicked on, and did so for Isaac, of course. Subscribed IMMEDIATELY for the intro music 🥰👌🏻
Why did the lore almost make me cry when hutts explained it?
I mean, Isaac totally died. In the afterlife, he got the bliss of having his dad around to tell him a story.
God damn it he did it again
He got a smile from me
I think that that is Isaac in his own little heaven with him spending time with his dad and mom still together, but he doesn’t know he is dead
That end cutscene always makes my eyes water. It hits me that Isaac dies and goes to heaven, being shown how nice his life could have been.
after all those years of watching people play tboi, i can't believe the story has finally come to a close
Just out of curiosity, what happens if you DO take a red key up to home as a tinted character?
Can you just open the character unlock room and there's nothing there?
Or can you not even open the room?
Or is there something cool there to see?
You get an item called “inner child “ (if you’ve unlocked it) instead.
*Huts Creepypasta:*
You are going home at night after a long day of work when your eyes suddenly catch a glimpse of something shiny on the floor....
It's a coin

You bow down and grab the coin but as soon you pick up the coin you hear Hutts voice coming from a nearby dark alley:
"MMMMmmm"
[to be continued]
Man, this Isaac kid has a really Creative mind! He should make a game about it
That ending feels to me like its one of the flashbacks isaac has before ascending, like how in the story isaac makes, after beating the mother of harlots, isaac ascends and his life flashes before his eyes, this whole dad telling the story may have been an important part of isaac's life when he was still happy, and now he sees it again for one last time before he passes away
Isaacs voice is so adorable
I do love the animated Tim, just adds that extra level to the gag that makes it great
Honestly, this game is terrifying.
Awesome video yet again, Repentance is such a good DLC
As for my opinion on the ending But to be completely honest the entire lore of Isaac (and part of the reason why I love it so much) is that it's all up to your interpretation.
This will be so exciting
I think the ending you get from killing the beast *is* at the end of the game, and that Isaac dies. How? Simple.
Isaac died, his parents were divorced, all that happened. But when Isaac died, he went to heaven and then went to live with his (now dead) dad and possibly eventually mom. Then, in heaven Isaac and his dad retell their lives, before thinking on what could have been.
I mean it does work. Might not be what Ed intended, but it may satisfy the fans who don't liek the new ending
I’m just gonna pretend that Isaac doesn’t die in the ending of the game.
Since we know Isaac canonically dies (suffocation in a toy chest), it's sort of implied that the very end cutscene is Isaac and his dad in heaven retelling the story? IIRC the Hanged Man are references about his father.
The ending dialogue between Isaac/Dad to me is like this:
Isaac has died, he's raising to Heaven.
Issac hits differently when you remember all of it is a child’s imagination of how he dies resurrects and thinks of his surroundings
Just a thought, when it says his shame and worry fell away, it was blue baby, a rather shameful character, and the Lost, a character that makes you worry while playing
Interesting... that Ed says Isaac is dead, no matter what. Here's my take, being a devoted Christian man:
Isaac isn't dead, and it is all just a story.
Which God did (after stopping Abraham) in the form of a ram.]
In the Ascent "memories" (mother/father arguing), it shows how his mother wants her husband to change when she says he has to repent, etc.

God: I didn't expect for us to see each other here
Satan: I didn't expect to see you helping my follower
with the ending, I like to think it’s showing us that perhaps in another time, where isaac’s parents’ divorce wasn’t messy and his life didn’t end up a tragedy, isaac’s dad has joint custody and just tells stories with his son. somewhere isaac is happy. :’)
I laughed so hard when I saw you dying on that curse room door,

If you pay attention. Hutts took Devil Items, while trying to get Angel. And then suddenly, he gained more power through the Angel Items.
And with the way the story ends...
