    Thank you so much, glad you reposted this beginners tutorial, I’ve been having a hard time pulling an even wall. Your tip about pushing in with two fingers at first helps immensely. That was such a great tip. I always love your videos and how informative and helpful you’ve been when I’ve asked many many questions. Have a blessed Easter and a great week. Thanks a million

    Always good to go back to basics, every now and then. Like driving, you pick up some bad habits, and sometimes it's good to see what you should do as best practice.
    I've got to learn now to pick up the clay up better, up to now, I've enjoyed trimming the excess off, but now I know more, I want to throw better and that for me is going back to basics. Thankyou, your timing for me anyway is perfect.😊

    Hi Sir! Great to refresh the fundamental skill every now and then especially been away so long! Still remember implying your centering skill which always quick to get the clay centered. Cutting up new block of clay into equal weight is a bright idea! 1 request, perhaps you can demo how a tall cylinder is pulled, and how hands/fingers move along as clay wall gets higher. I lost track of the pressure of my fingers on both sides as I pull up in a standing position. Many thanks! :-)

      It takes a lot of concentration when doing a pull. It takes a lot of practice to feel comfortable doing it. Eventually it is instinctive. You could try putting a marker on the edge of the wheel so you can count rotations and remember to be higher on the wall each rotation. Good luck.

      @@Vsmithpots Tried the marking, lost the spot once wheel spins a bit quicker. lol. So tried the 5/6 counts. Did work.

    Thank you for showing all the videos you made, I watch them all and I learn so many new techniques. I really like the way you and your wife show and teach, it is very encouraging, pottery making can be daunting :-). But I have a question, just curious, how did your studio get it's name? What is the Westcote Bell?

    • @Vsmithpots
      @Vsmithpots  6 месяцев назад +2

      Westcote was a wrought iron sign on the front of our house in England, where the first studio was set up. Bell is my mother in laws maiden name, she persuaded us to move to North America.

      Not really, but I am floating over the water which is often warmer than the air above it.
