      @@paulstruxness2043 Maybe I phrased the comment incorrectly. I just feel that whenever there's a great white player they are compared to another white player, and mostly Larry Bird. White players deserve better than that. I feel that her game is even better than Bird's relative to the WNBA. Bird was not as shifty as she is, thus the comparison to Steph, and she is also a better passer than Bird, thus the comparison to Magic Johnson; however I would compare her to Bird for her shooting prowess, but Steph is a slightly better shooter than Bird was, and she shoots as good as Steph. I think we will both agree that she doesn't need to be compared to any of those guys, black or white, because she is her own beast! I'm a black guy, and I know that Clark is NOT a great white hope, and she has earned each and every accolade she receives.

    • @paulstruxness2043
      @paulstruxness2043 2 месяца назад +2

      @@jbeley3 appreciate the elaboration and clarification. Magic and Bird were close friends and fierce competitors. I didn’t make the comparison to Bird because he’s white. I’m just really familiar with his game and stature among the greatest of his era. Bird was a phenomenal passer. As good as Magic. Check the stats. Maybe not quite as good a three point shooter as Curry, but the best clutch shooter I’ve ever seen. And the undisputed NBA champion of trash talking. Even the GOAT, MJ, never beat Bird in a game. And admits his greatness. Add to the fact that Bird’s contemporaries all said he played like a black guy and Bird, himself, said no white player could guard him. Bird would call his shot ahead of the play and dare his opponent to try and stop him. They couldn’t do it. So, my comparison was based on that perception, not color. Check out Bird’s stats if you like. He was for real.

The vid definitely took some time and effort to edit together and the narration is informative and thought out. When CC bursts on the scene, there was a huge rise in youtube channels and videos covering her, and the majority are just clearly using her clout for clicks, with subpar video clips, and after thought remarks, just to get a video with her name up, so people can click. 99% of the videos out there are recycyled clips and rehashed headlines on her. So it is great to finally see a well thought out put together, CC Video. But alas, still had the MJ clickbit thumbnail lol. Did MJ even have clip here lol

    CC has a number of clear differences in her game that fundamentally gives and her team mates an advantage and once they have gotten used to playing that way, ti will be like Larry Bird entered the Celtics. Her speed and sudden change of pace opens up space, the speed and accuracy of her passes gives the receiver a fraction of a second more to shoot the ball, which is all they need to score, her ability to read the situation and pass the ball exactly to the spot where it should be also translates into points, just like Bird and Jokic.. It's amazing how especially the "old guard" females/journalists of the WNBA can't get past their emotions to assess Clark purely on logic and objective facts. This bias is why these females are not realizing Clark is the true ROY of the league. If Indiana places well in the standing with a healthy run in the playoffs, she may even pull off MVP.

That plus the fact that she ignores all the drama and jealousy directed towards her…class! CC is not just someone for aspiring girls in bball to emulate, but all female athletes. For female athletes to learn that they can and should harness their competitive nature/abilities/drive leaving everything on the court (or whatever arena they play in/on), and to maintain a level of mental strength that’s so strong, you rise above the frey and ignore all the drama! Not only is Caitlin Clark a fantastic player, she has brought in millions of fans who have never watched an NBA game before. She is also the reason Reese is getting so much attention. CC led all votes for WNBA allstar. The next closest vote getter was 80k+ votes behind her and Reese was 300k votes behind Caitlin. Do other players do things that CC does? you bet, but she does them all.

    Caitlin brings excitement to the game through her energy on the court. Even when she's knocked down, blatantly fouled, she comes back stronger with even more energy. That's the excitement factor, and the WNBA would be wise to acknowledge that.

    I know there is a lot of hate out there, but some day, WNBA veterans are going to reminisce about having to play against Caitlyn the way NBA legends talk about guarding MJ or Magic or Bird. She is going to be a legend. And what we love about her is what Barkley mentioned. She's been beaten up, double and triple teamed, picked up full court, blind sided, you name it, and she has never uttered a bad word toward an individual off the court. She is special.

    CC being confronted with a higher level of play, has just meant that she finally has teammates at a level that can really maximize all her genius point guard skills. She's been waiting for better teammates, and they've been waiting for her. And the rest of the WNBA is pissed that their lazy pace and lack of toughness has been exposed.

    I'd compare CC's impact to the WNBA's popularity with MJ's taking the NBA's popularity internationally (not skill level, though she's definitely super talented). Sure, people kinda watched the WNBA before, but now? There are tons of people from all over the world saying they're catching games purely because of her. I rarely caught WNBA highlights before, but find myself enjoying her highlights all the time. The WNBA will probably go from losing money to making tons of money purely based on CC.

    It seems to ne that CC has an almost supernatural ' situational awareness". She knows exactly were SHE is and also knows where everyone else is.
    She is kind of like a speed reader. Add that to her physical skills and she is unstoppable.

    Maybe she should be referred to as “ WMBA Sniper “. All the highlights that I have seen for the most part, is that she can shoot from any area around the three-point line. There is a lot of NBA players that can’t do that accurately within a certain percentage of time. In fact, I have watched them choke when it came to the foul line. I think this young woman is going to excite a lot of young girls.

    Watch, because Clark is one of these rare and special athletes that turns her actions into the flow of dance, a kind of poetry.
