- Without a doubt, the new gen Mercedes-AMG cars, powered by the 4.0 biturbo V8 engine, are quicker, more powerful and more efficient. But what about the sound? Do they also sound better than their naturally aspirated predecessor? You be the judge! Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I love the 6 litre V8! It just has that glorious bassy grumble that 4 litre doesn’t have! The 6 litre doesn’t scream at you it roars at you!
Rob Johns we need someone from the Mercedes team on a huge projected to re build the new C63S with the old engine then sell that car on auction calling it C63RS Or potentially put the S65 V12 BiTurbo engine on it

@@Kaunainhell, they should make a 6.2 supercharged model 😂😂 6.2 makes more power than the 6.4 HEMI and other NA LS engines stock, it would absolutely destroy any American V8 when it has a supercharger on top 😉
Tbh the 4.0 still sounds amazing it's just the examples used in this video are trash recordings and of near enough stock exhaust setups but the 6.2 ones had straight pipes in a few of them

LMAO everybody knows if you want to go faster you get the 6.2.... even youtube has 1000 videos of stock c63 vsing eachother I've never seen a 4.0 win....

Sure the new 4.0L are better in almost everything, but the sound of the old gen is just unbeatable

Как минимум из всего, что было и есть у мерседеса с мощностью свыше 400 л.с. это самый надежный и живучий двигатель, они ходят 150-200к без серьезного ремонта, я максимум под 300 к видел на С63, да там уход за авто был как за дочерью, но двигатель родной, не капиталенный... Мерсдес в принципе разучился делать бензиновые двигатели, все что туда пихают последние 3-5 лет хлам, не способный проехать и 150 к без геморроя, а AMGшные битурбоубожества не видел чтоб доезжали до 100к без капиталки, на 20-30 к уже бошки меняют, турбины к 50 к отлетают, если раньше блок не крякнет... Мерс еще этим дер*мом зас**л другие авто, в V8 vantage теперь это убожество стоит, старые V8 астона ходили и ходили, теперь раз в 2-3 года капиталить надо... Инфинити несколько лет юзал мерсовские 2.0, с их статистикой капиталки у каждого 4 автомобиля до 25 к км пробега... Они отказались от услуг Мерседес в поставке двигателей, последние партии доставят и до свидания, ибо мерседес перестал делать двигатели... Последнее, что стояло в мерседесе от инженеров, это М156...

the NA is much better but at least mercedes didnt ruin the sound completely like bmw
depends which BMW, the M140i sounds great, also the 3 cylinder is cute. the previous NA 120i 125i 130i sound awesome.

Audio compensation for running a smaller engine doesn’t look good, it doesn’t sound good either.
The sad news is, the 2022 c 63 will be a 4 cylinder hybrid…
The M156 will become one of the most valued AMG engines ever, just give them time.

The 6.3L is obviously more aggressive. The 4.0 ain't bad eithet,its just probably more economical were fuel is concerned. I I honestly wouldn't mind it.
I guess the new 4.0l engines are faster, they don't sound bad either, but that old 6.2 V8 brute... oh my... It sounds as if it wants to stab you to death like a million times... Love that engine! Wasn't it made for racing by the way?

The 6.2 AMG V8 are masterpieces period. End if sentences. The 4.0 is stupid quick sure snd sounds good from the right angle but can’t hold a candle to the 6.2

The 6.2 engine is with the sound Mutch better but the 4.0 engine is faster and have a good sound.
The bi turbo pick up speed so fast you don’t get time to hear it as much in my opinion it’s 90 percent as good on the sound and 125 percent on performance
Interesting, like both for different reasons. I like the smooth m177 with the more pronounced bark. Like the m156 for the more in your face race sound.
There is no comparison. 6.2.

Sadly the 6.2-liter c63 for me was the European that came closest to an American muscle car, The big engine (6.2), The gurgling sound of the moment, (The AMG exhaust), The shape of the rear pillars that give But they changed the engine to one of 4 liters and 2 turbos, instead of having maintained the displacement and that in its most brutal versions the c63 s Put a fucking massive American supercharger ...... and so have more than 700 hp without problems

ça reste un son de V8, mais avec la diminution de cylindrée et l'adjonction de turbo, on entend bien qu'il est moins sonore ce 4 litres. Ensuite, évidemment, la rage mécanique dans les hauts tours d'un atmosphérique n'est pas la facilité de pousse d'un turbo.
4 литра конечно уже не звучат. Без пайпов так вообще отстой, на пайпах просто громко, но не обьемно. Звук плоский как на тракторе. 6.2 моя любовь, 5.5 тоже звучит неплохо.

Yea my dad got one for the weekend (SL63 AMG full kitted out), the engine itself isn't _that_ loud, but the only thing you hear when Idling or when the engine is off is the screaming fan, it's so fucking loud...well to be expected he rode it like a maniac we did basically always >220kph

I assume you mean the M159. The M159 was developed for the SLS AMG. It is basically the same engine block as the M156. However, it has an upgraded intake manifold, as well as a different exhaust system. Also, some of the internals were upgraded. Therefore it was able to have a higher power output.

I think cars that had the 6.2 look so much better than the new style. Old C63, E63, S63 are so muscular and mean looking.

@@akselcapuri from that time personally I like the w204 c63 it’s little for comparison but it has huge balls under the hood. And it’s very practical if it’s estate. But other ones also is very nice cars.

Please point out which cars are 5.5 V8 ?? (some time stamps would be helpful). And I only use footage that I have recorded myself. I could just take a bunch of other people's videos from the internet to make a compilation but I don't like that. I only use my own stuff.
@@LarsMarsCars ive carefully reviewed the video, and i must have mistook the S63's for pre facelift ones... Didnt notice the oled rear lights. So i guess they all are 4.0's, still dont like a lot of the clips, since barely any of them catch the low end rumble of both engines...

6.2's better, but not by that much honestly. A turbocharger won't really interfere with the throatiness of the sound, more so the high-end bite.
