Brings me back to 91-93 when I was discovering the enchanting world of House and Techno, Raves, Breakbeats/Hardcore/Early Jungle. Dude is definitely Old Skool.
10:25 looks like you are giving away one of the most valued secrets of music production even today and i can only say to the people who are not sure aobut that technique it is exactly done this way :) important part of good music was always a good amount of not knowing what you are doing and just see what happens love it
@@KenFehling This script he uses is actually quite brilliant. Just hit record, let it go on for two minutes, pick what you like and put the parts one after another. done. forever.
Yup....its official. An old househead's mind is completely blown away!!! The sound that left me dripping with sweat on tons of dance floors back in my clubbin' days is explained and made to look sooooo easy!! Fantastic video
Such a great resource of hardware/music production. I basically check the channel every day now. You've inspired me to hook up my 909 and 727. Keep them coming up!
What a wicked video! This pretty much sold me on wanting to get the TR-09. That 92 rave part brought such a big smile to my face, like I haven't had in a long time.
Wow, Paolo, production and sound quality are getting greater with each video. sounds fantastic! you would throw amazing parties as both host and Dj/musician. Bust out the drinks!
I fell over laughing on how you showed the rave section, But you know what? It was one of the best eras to be alive hearing all that good music. I wouldn't trade it for the music now
Paola again perfectly explained how to do these kind of sounds. Since very long time I'm following your videos there are so helpful for me, because I also have a lot of the original equipment which is not easy to understand sometimes. Go on your one of my best teachers
Paolo is my particular Maestro Jedi of synths!! ;) It's obvious that you really played that kind of stuff back in the good ol' days...thanks a lot for sharing the tricks.
I have the first generation E tribe drum machine that can get some nice beats with a phat analogue kick sound thanks again Paolo such a great talent and you make the beats so fast. I think I over think my music to much.
My favorite thing about the 909 is how the openclose hat sounds affect eachother. It's generally the first thing that is lost from the signature sound when somebody tries to sample it.
Thank you Paolo! I have been watching your videos for some time and I find them easy to follow, very educational, and truly inspirational! I am grateful that you dedicate the time and energy into producing this content, it is clear that you are very passionate about music and we are fortunate to have you as a mentor. Ačiū! - Povilas
Why I hate this guy? Because he can throw down a track in 5 mins to the standard I'd be happy to achieve working on it for ten years.... My passion is rave music from 88 to 93 and this guy could keep that remarkable era alive today
This is really great. I love the more hands on approach. It reminds me of when I was young. I am 35. i started going to raves in 1996. I was mixing beats with vinyl and playing with rebirth at age 17. I still DJ to this day but make beats with abelton and reason and it's frustrating. I enjoy your vids and wish to have set ups like you in the future!! Cheers!!! Good job !!!
That's really awsome man! I appreciate your work. I can't play hardly at all, but I would love to learn to play the keys one day. House, and dance disco, electronic is my favorite mood music!
909 and 727 have always been a great combo or 707 and 727. The 727 agogos are really nice too. Great video Paulo. You must do a follow up with maybe the 808 and 909 .
Yes, thank you, I will do the next one with 808 and 727, the other classic combo ;) In the meantime, you might be interested in watching this one: ruclips.net/video/ZHm19RGlGBg/видео.html

Hi .. thanks for this tutorial i really enjoyed it . I have a TR8 and will try to recreate this at some point . I have watched you recreate a number of different sounds/ songs and you do a really great job !!
I loved House/Techno from the 80s/early 90s, but this guy looked like an anorak (geek) until he showed his genuine musical talent. He put some good shit together on those magical machines for faithful folks
Hi Paolo, another fascinating insight..many thanks. Would you consider doing a video trying to re-make the elements of my favourite italo house track from '90 - Last Rhythm, Last Rhythm? That would be amazing
Those house beats always had something special. In that first pattern, with the typical bass and hi-hat in such an ultra-straight pattern, I knew something up up with the congos & shakers but never could put my finger on the trick. Thanks for showing us the power of selected precussion swinging outside the main drum patterns. Is that swinging the reason to use the 2 drum machines?
hmmmm that is a great point. you couldn't do this on a single drum machine, like tr-8, but if its straight beat is combined with a shuffled beat of another machine... magic happens. gotta try it out later tonight.
I think you could, provided one machines can generate all of the sounds. Shuffle is not applied to 1/8 notes, only to the 1/16 notes in between, hence the kick nor the open hihat would be affected in this particular beat.
"... and you get 1992 basically."
I don't know if he intended it to be, but that was hilarious

Out of all the you techniques, it's the only thing thats work for me.
Reminds me of the Brian Eno method of randomizing drums ruclips.net/video/QHIhDP8pTkE/видео.html

Lol there's no secrets here.
Yup....its official. An old househead's mind is completely blown away!!! The sound that left me dripping with sweat on tons of dance floors back in my clubbin' days is explained and made to look sooooo easy!! Fantastic video
And that very sound is even today very much alive and kicking ass! This was a couple months back: /watch?v=i9trRVQvZF8
Man. After all this years u are still like light in tunnel. Keep working... We need u
I love that Paolo is 45+ but still has the spirit of a 21 year old.
"Hey. I resemble that remark" --Curly, three stooges
I’m 21 and I second this, he is a prolific badass
lol Im 45 and Im still locked in the 90's doing this stuff on my keyboards ha ha :D
Never grow up.
Duncan Cook where’s your budgie gone?
4x4 bass drum, other random drums and a stab and you have 1992, thanks for making me smile :)
Such a great resource of hardware/music production. I basically check the channel every day now. You've inspired me to hook up my 909 and 727. Keep them coming up!
2:02 Chords are similar to "Strings of life" by Derrick May. Sooo lovely piano
With less than 3 octaves. I have been searching tutorials with tips about how create that with this amount of keys. It's hard to find it.
What a wicked video! This pretty much sold me on wanting to get the TR-09. That 92 rave part brought such a big smile to my face, like I haven't had in a long time.
Thank you
Wow, Paolo, production and sound quality are getting greater with each video. sounds fantastic! you would throw amazing parties as both host and Dj/musician. Bust out the drinks!
I dont know how, but watching you setup the machines relaxes me so much.
great thing man, nowadays we have the DAWs being easier to work with, but you guys the programmers are the respect!
I fell over laughing on how you showed the rave section, But you know what? It was one of the best eras to be alive hearing all that good music. I wouldn't trade it for the music now

Sorry of course Paulo
But now I have trigger out how to save these wonderful beats on the Roland cards in the tr-909 & tr-727
Thank you so much
Yaaaaaaassss. I was born with these sounds! Thank you for showing us. I'm back in 90s now.
10:17 Lets just put the rest at Random cause that's how it was done. LOL!
Haha, yes :-D I've played with enough DJs back in the day to let you know that's really HOW they were programmed :-D
I LOL'd.
even nowadays programming beats and even synths is definitely a good way to start and build up from!!
my god that was amazing, fun as hell
Works thou ;)
Can't beat the oldskool! Loved the rave sound back in day! This is so close to it!
Nice, this is what I like about Italo disco,House, techno that retain the disco beats and octave bass styles
Paolo is my particular Maestro Jedi of synths!! ;)
It's obvious that you really played that kind of stuff back in the good ol' days...thanks a lot for sharing the tricks.
When he just slapped buttons at 10:17 I died 🤣
Then he pressed play 🔥

Those are some legendary, bad ass machines!
My favorite thing about the 909 is how the openclose hat sounds affect eachother. It's generally the first thing that is lost from the signature sound when somebody tries to sample it.
All I can say is Wow..you really know what you are doing..takes me straight back to Es and all night Raves in the middle of nowhere
Wow! You took me back in time to my childhood! Love what you do!
those congas and shakers are so good
Wow you are amazing at this and it's still to this day my favourite Sound, tunes back then never die or fade away

blown AWAY by the knowledge

this is very very basic knowledge right here
I found your video most helpful big smiles from South Africa.
So the drums are all Random on the rave except for the bass?? That's amazing and hilarious!! It sounds great!
TR French I was OH that's simple you just scramble it at random and BOOM there you go that beautiful rave sound.
I love the sound of the 909 key caps:)
Great video, took me back to the day before I was into Logic, and ProTools, fun times.
Absolutely 🎉 soul healing vibes with congos💥 Happy Christmas!
Awesome playing on that house track. Sounded like Derrick May-Strings Of Life
