Hello,
I have seen lots of videos about drawing with soft pastels. So I bought also pastel sticks and pencils and paper, so I'm total beginner, never done any pastel work before. And I thought this video/ picture would be nice to start with. Well i throw 2 work away, cause it just doesn't work :D
Mine white color disappears and doesn't make any effect. If I use finger to blend colors they just go away and nothing stays on the paper. What I'm doing wrong? Thought paper is wrong, it has textured surface, it didn't work on that paper, so I turned it around and on other side paper was more even, but still colors did't stay on the paper..

With good quality color, the good paper also plays a good role in art.
Mine paper is sketch paper (recommended for dry pastel) and Mungyo Gallery soft pastel color.
