I am meant to be doing my morning meditation then but, honestly, I find your vlogs as centering and relaxing as many a meditation. A daily dose of authenticity and joy in family, self-care, and creativity is good for the soul. Thanks for sharing.

    Finally, a Nordic style pattern top down!!! It looks lovely on you and the care you’ve taken to get the proportions accurate is wonderful - nothing worse than a handmade sweater that you’ve put a ton of time and:money into and it just doesn’t fit right. Looking forward to the release. You’ve helped me get my knitting mojo back too!!!

I often imagine different scenarios in my head, and how I would like people to react, so I had a good giggle at your school run scenario. The opening was hilarious and soo relatable! How rude of people to not complement every handmade garment we wear right??😂 I probably say it every day but today's vlog was so good! I loved that you explained how you choose testers, I found it very interesting. And it's good to get to know the perspective of the designer cause I personally applied for like 5 testcall this year and I hadn't been choosen for any of those. I know every designer get way more applicants than they need and being chossen or not is not really a reflection of how good of a knitter you are, but a girl get discouraged you know😂 But anyway, I appreciated you talking about your personal process and it was nice to hear more about the behind the scenes. Oh and about that very vague possibility of expanding the autumn vlog series to more than a week, I fully understand it's a lot of work, but I just wanted to assure you, as long as you’ll continue uploading I'll continue watching!!😂❤

    Sitting here watching while working on a test knit for a friend whose been designing for a few years but struggles to get sufficient knitters especially in the larger sizes. So interesting to hear how you you decide on test knitters.

    • @_laurapenrose_
      @_laurapenrose_  День назад

      There are some fantastic Instagram accounts that promote test calls specifically focus on size inclusivity, as long as they meet the criteria (enough sizes, long enough time frame etc). Fattestknits is one that’s helped me find testers for the larger sizes a few times! I’d suggest your friend definitely check them out!! X

      Even though growth comes from being uncomfortable, it’s also important we respect our boundaries and push ourselves when the time is right. The midland is not ideal for a first test knit so you made the right decision! I’d recommend trying an accessory test knit to start with and it’s a much smaller commitment ☺️☺️☺️ x

    When my daughter was young I had her pick out her outfit for the next day before going to bed. That way it was all ready to go in the morning. I still do lunch box prep the evening before. Then in the morning all I have to do is add the refrigerated foods and ice pack to the lunch boxes in the morning.

    • @_laurapenrose_
      @_laurapenrose_  22 часа назад +1

      We don’t even have to do that, she has a school uniform and the school provides her lunch 🙈🙈🙈 the trouble is getting her to do it independently, if she got to choose her clothes every day it would actually be easier I think!!! My son went through the same phase so I’m confident she will find the empowerment to take care of herself, when she’s emotionally mature enough, I just need to work on keeping calm and providing her with the safe environment to do that! I don't apply for test knits for garments because I am (rightfully) not likely to be chosen along with my fear of not finishing in time and disappointing people. My size is right smack in the middle, so there will always be a lot of applicants, and other than having a Ravelry account (not under this name), I have zero social media presence, so I won't be of any use for marketing. I have test knitted for an accessory, so I can check test knitting off my bucket list. It was a wonderful experience (at least on my side. I don't want to speak for the designer), but I've no need to repeat it. Happy to purchase the pattern once it's complete even if I am antsy waiting for it to drop. :D Thanks for making me giggle right from the start. I have played that same scenario (minus the designing part) in my head sooooo many times. I have to laugh at myself. Grins!

    I would love to have a go at test knitting but how I pick a size makes me think I can’t 😢. Because of my body proportions I always knit different sizes for the back vs the front. I have a narrow back and a very large bust so I find when I knit a size based on circumference the side seams are waaaaay off. I tend to knit a small in the back and an XXL in the front and that has dramatically changed how everything I make fits. Would you ever consider a test knitter who did that? It’s fine if not, I am assuming it’s a no but I’ll hold out hope for a yes 😂

    • @_laurapenrose_
      @_laurapenrose_  21 час назад

      This design construction means you can easily make the back narrower than the front, or the front wider than the back! The beauty of sideways construction!

    Knitting a sweater can easily take up to 100 hours, which test knitters do for free (if no yarn support). You profit from their feedback. To exclude those with no internet presence, so that you have free marketing, is understandable from a budgeting sense, but excludes very many able and advanced knitters who could help you improve your designs. I only test knit for those who do not require me to market for them also., as then I am sure the design matters and not the PR.

    • @_laurapenrose_
      @_laurapenrose_  21 час назад +2

      Thanks for your feedback, I don’t ’require’ any marketing from my testers, which I don’t think I mentioned. I always make it clear that they are not expected to post or share anything if they don’t want to, fortunately my own online presence is enough to market my work now. I just use Instagram as I have so many platforms I need to constantly monitor, it’s easier for me to keep on top of things and stay present in the group chat if it’s on Instagram. As I mentioned, I’d like to change this in the future, but right now I just have too many spinning plates and find learning a new platform quite overwhelming.
      I’m fully aware of the time test knitters give to take part, which is why I always ensure there is more than enough time before the deadline and no repercussions if someone needs to drop out. Maybe I’ll explain a bit further in another video as I take the knitter experience very seriously.
      Thanks for watching, I’m always open for different view points! Xx
