    Fantastic quality build...I can only dream of affording the Moki Radial...like all new planes the maiden can be interesting as you are not sure how it will initially behave...a lot of Pilots at our club will never do a maiden and will always pass it onto someone else...I always do my own...great flying and landing..

    Beautiful aircraft, and possibly nervous first flight with the now disputed MIG15 killers name on the fuselage. However he did fly, was I in 802 Squadron at the time of the MIG kill.... I believe this squadron knocked bits off other MIGs in the same Korean engagement..Just goes to show what a fast and effective Fighter this was...the last of powerful piston engined fighters...

    The Seafury was a beast. 2,500 HP 18 cylinder engine, 460 mph top speed - and a beautiful design. Your remote control 1/4 scale model has an astonishing level of detail. I'm not sure you did a full-power climb and dive fly-past - even though the fly-by's were sweet with the Moki giving a bit of a howl. I'll keep watching. But, well done!

    I had that same plane as well as a Mits Zero and a Corsair. They are all taildraggers and you have to give full up elevator on initial run-up from the start and then gradually let off the elevator once the airflow increases across the control surfaces as the plane picks up speed. Otherwise the power from the engine will pull the nose and prop right into the ground. It took me three props to learn that lesson with the Corsair. It seems the pilot is slightly inexperienced with warbirds. Great landing though.

    • @staples919
      @staples919  3 года назад

      Actually, the pilot is highly experienced. One of the best pilots in Western Australia on all types of aircraft. This was a maiden flight of a very complex model. You have to remember that you are not flying a proven air-frame during a maiden flight.

    Why were your flaps going up when you advanced throttle?

    • @staples919

      It was a preset flap setting in the radio. It was re programmed and corrected before the maiden flight.

    • @staples919

      Not tail heavy. I believe it was just trim issues. Vinny will be able to fill you in here.

    • @thelakeflyer67
      @thelakeflyer67 3 года назад +3

      It wasnt tail heavy .. I took of with take off flaps . A big mistake on my part . It took of with too much drag hence the wing drop just after take of it was going too slow . Once it was up to speed and It trimmed it out all was fine .. I dont use flaps now for takeoff. Only landings 😁

  • @flycatchful

    • @thelakeflyer67
      @thelakeflyer67 2 года назад

      Thank you. I'm the owner and builder . It was tail heavy to begin with.. I balanced it with the help from my mates on pivot points . For its size it was very close , my main issue was taking of with takeoff flaps .BAD IDEA it wouldn't accelerate fast enough that's why it dropped a wing ..other flights have been fine 🙂

    The guy in the gray shorts was initially blocking the left wing, but after it starts he just faces the prop arc providing a great target for any failure . How about a little situational awareness.?
    39kg is 86lbs, isn't that just a bit heavy?
    She's a hangar queen, your asking too much from the wing. Unless you put her on a serious diet I don't see a long life for this plane.

    Congrats on this prime tutorial on how not to maiden. Engine running, ready to take off, discovers the flaps are mixed with throttle. Takes off and 'discovers' it's tail-heavy... CG is measured in the workshop, not in the air.

      @@clementgoetke2385 Absolutely. I don't even recall all the maidens I've done over 25 years of RC. So you can start rolling over and play dead. If I were to witness the "flap incident" before a maiden, I'd jump in my car and get out of there. btw, I think you wanted to write "they're a f------g expert". If youd like too know .. I'm the owner and builder . No one knows what a plane is going to do untill its airborne .. the plane wasnt tail heavy . It took off too slow .. I have 33 years experience flying and building from scratch ..I'm trusted to test fly alot of planes for other pilots .. the flap mix was accidentally activated during a radio check without my knowledge... if people like you have nothing better to do than just make derogatory comments about other people's planes and achievements build something of the same nature and size then we can all judge your efforts .. have a nice day
