That is the midst insane trick I've literally ever seen when making coasters with the glue on the back so you can peel off after. Ingenious!! I'm stealing your recipe for my next set of coasters. So beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
What a unique take on a beach pour… they are just beautiful!! I do quite a few beach pours myself but have not strayed away from the traditional blues/greens/gold and sand colours… this really makes me wanna try to!! Thanks so much for sharing! ♥️♥️🇦🇺
Thank you! The glitter idea was suggested by a dear friend of mine and I thought pairing it with different colors would be fun. Try it out! I really enjoyed making these.
Thank you! The glue definitely works better for me and has many pros. Both do the same though so it’s also just your preference. Try them both and see what you like more!
I love these colors. I have a question regarding the school glue on the back. Will clear school glue work the same? I don't have any white school glue... It's still elmers, its just clear.
These coasters are absolutely gorgeous sweetheart! Great tutorial, around how many mils of resin to how many drops of castin craft do you use? Big thumbs up on these, can't wait to see more of your artwork :)
Wow that’s totally awesome! And awesome idea with the glue. I would have never thought! 😊. Definitely following you! Thanks so much for sharing! 😊 Do the cells form by themselves or is something you do?
Thank you so much! I did not do anything extra outside of the video. The cells form over time just leaving it after I push the white with a heat gun. I definitely think I found the right combination of resin+pigment for resin waves for me.
@@EllafulDeco Your Very Welcome. Ohh ok. Just wondering. This is all new to me. So I’m trying to get the hang of it. Thanks so much for responding. I really appreciate it. 😊
Thank you for your feedback! I used 2:1 and 1:1 for this, but what you should look at for resin is the type of resin and if it’s ideal for your project. There are 1:1 resin that is meant for casting thicker pieces and 1:1 resin that is meant for top coating. Definitely read over the instructions for the resin you’re using or intend on purchasing to see how to best work with them. The specific resins I used in the video are linked in the description.
It usually takes ~24 hours for me. I have a fan blowing at my glued pieces to help decrease that time to ~6-8 hours. It’ll dry faster with a thinner layer as well. You can also look into liquid latex. It can be used for the same purpose, but it’s pricier.
The calibrated pumps are from TotalBoat. It is specifically calibrated for the resin that I used in the video. You can find the link to the resin in the description.
I love them Jim’s wife Tara thanks Gods so good ugh I have bad left side I’m do everything so hard thanks I can’t believe I’m doing resin eh yeah I just weedwack the lawn with a bad foot really thanks
You could try a blow dryer, but I don't know how those results will be. I highly suggest a heat gun for resin, not just for waves, but it helps a lot with surface bubbles as well.
I just love these coasters! So unique and the blend of colors are beautiful. Thank you for sharing! I'd like to try to make these but I have a couple questions if I may. What is the depth of your coaster mold - I see they range from ⅛ of an inch to 1½ inches! I also wonder what type of heat gun do you use. Again! I see so many with different heat temperatures and nozzle sizes! Thank you!
Hi I just wanted to say that if you want a thick consistency of glitter put a lot of glitter and a bit of reisn so it is around 20 50 I hope u found this helpful 😊
Thanks! I use a mix of acrylic paint and mica powder. Be careful using acrylic paint though because it’s water based and too much can cause the resin to not cure properly.
Hi Ella - these coasters look fantastic! I like that you made it all look so easy which has encouraged me to just do it! No messing around! The glue tipp for undeneath is awesome lol. I also likes it that you gave an approximate amount of mixed resin/ coaster/ covering. That was fantastic because good products are expensive and one doesnt want to just waste them. Greatly appreciate your work, knowledge and the sharing of it - I love it! 💕
Thanks! They take about 1.5-2 weeks from start to finish. My resin (TotalBoat) takes 7 days to full cure. If you use a different resin, they should come with its own instructions.
Hi ella, so lovely coaster... i would love to these but I just have a clarification, when you do the waves, is that the final coating for that? Or you still have the clear on top after the waves? This will be my qst ti.e to do it🥰🥰🥰
The pump on the left looks really hard to push down. I like the idea of the calibrated pumps. Does the pump by chance get slightly clogged causing it to be harder to push? Thank you so much!
They are not clogged, but just that the resin (part A) is slightly thicker than the hardener (part B) so it takes a little bit of force to push down. Think of it like pumping honey vs juice.
Newbie here.. hi, why the need for the glue back when the coasters are flat down anyway when doing the waves? Desperate to learn as much as I can, beautiful coasters, thank you ☺️
Hello! You’ll see that when I peel off the glue, there are resin drips on the glue that get peeled off as well. Without the glue layer, those drips will need to be sanded down instead because they will be cured to the coaster itself. Then we’d have to go through a whole sanding and polishing step for the bottom. I use the glue when I do any top coats to protect the bottom of a piece so I don’t have to sand.
This year I am really focusing on outdoor markets and I have a huge holiday one coming up. I don’t have much for project videos right now because I had to remove my dedicated filming spot. Need all the space I can get to make😅, but I have a beginner series that I’m working on and hoping to release before the year ends! Lots planned for next year though as well 😁
Wow these are the best resin coasters I’ve seen beautiful colours love pastels and the glitter is magic thank you so much for your tutorial - can I ask what makes the cells in the waves as I’ve had a couple of goes creating beach themes on table tops but just can not quite get the cells I would like! ❤
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! The heat helps create the cells for the coasters, but you can also try to spritz isopropyl alcohol on the surface after you spread your white. I tried that and it create some insane cells. I didn't do anything extra outside of the video to get these effects though so I definitely credit the resin and pigment for my oceans.
Those are gorgeous, the glue on the back is very clever!
Thank you so much! The glue saves so much time!

This was a great video. I love the clever idea of using glue for the backs. That saves A lot of sanding!

How long does it take for the glue to dry on the back? Mine seems to be taking forever!
It usually takes ~24 hours for me. I have a fan blowing at my glued pieces to help decrease that time to ~6-8 hours. It’ll dry faster with a thinner layer as well. You can also look into liquid latex. It can be used for the same purpose, but it’s pricier.
new to resin are you using the acrylic paint instead of the mica pigment?
I am using a mix of acrylic paint and mica powder to get the colors that I want. The products are linked in the description.

To protect the back of the piece from resin drips as shown in the video.
