Great question! Quilling can make beautiful brooches and pins but because these poppies were made by husking, they may break if bumped, etc. If you wanted to make a poppy pin for remembrance, maybe consider making the petals using tight coils like in this begonia tutorial 👉 ruclips.net/video/IyiEIYmZkfA/видео.htmlsi=15rbXcyfki7hSOXD They wouldn’t have the same fluttery quality but they would be sturdier and if made in the right colors, they would definitely look like poppies.
Thanks! I haven’t had that problem but my crimper does have a hard time staying put when I turn the handle. I feel like I need third hand to keep it still. Does it help if you go slower? Sorry I can’t be more help!
Thank you so much for this video. One question, the strips you are using are 18 long, are these inches? and what size is the center yellow part(I work with centimetres)
I just looked up the conversion and 18 inches is almost 46 centimeters. Both the red petals and the yellow center on this flower are made with the same brand of 18 inch strips.
I have seem diy quilling tools made that way so it seems like that would work. I would think that you could still get your flowers started in the same way that I do even without the slotted pin. It's just a matter of holding on tightly to your paper around your pin when gluing that first step.

Lovely poppies Mer. I see them less and less in the fields. They used to be everywhere when I was a kid.

Could you put a brooch pin on the back to wear the Poppy or would it be too delicate?

Thank you for your help.
I just got a crimper but so far every time I run a piece through it wants to move and sort of fold up on itself. Any tips? Great poppies!

My board didn't come with slotted pins, is there anywhere I could get some or something I could do as an alternative?
Would needle work? Just cut it at the top with pliers to get that slotted part.
