Miss PH so much!!!! He was the voice of reason and inspiration! I miss the "good ole days" when families loved God and Country; when children were taught the three Rs in school, when decency, honor and honesty were something most of us lived by, when having your rifle in the gun rack of your pickup at high school was perfectly safe and there were no school shootings! I wish politicians were honest. I wish the world wasn't governed by greed and powermongering! So as I remember beautiful times of an Era now long gone, I will put my hand in God's hand and tell the world, only LOVE will set things right side up again. Perhaps a different world. A smaller world, but a world built on love for one another. One heart at a time. That's why we came here. I'll carry on. Do my part. I know that LOVE will lead us to Peace on Earth. Don't give up. We need to be strong, now. ❤

I’m 67. My father loved, absolutely loved listening to Paul Harvey. One day when I was 8, I was ill and not at school, so my father made me macaroni and cheese with sliced-up hot dogs in it for lunch. Paul Harvey came on the radio with this story. It was a few days before Christmas, so while I ate my lunch, I listened. At the end, my father was beaming with a smile of contentment, a “knowing” smile, and he looked at me and said, “Do you get it?” I said, “Get what?” Years later, I was 12, eating breakfast, and it was a few days before Christmas when Paul Harvey came on the radio once again and read this story. At the end, I had tears in my eyes…I finally understood. Thank you, Paul Harvey, for being the messenger for God!

My mother listened to Paul Harvey every day both in the morning and at lunchtime and although as a kid, I didn't usually listen to most news broadcasts, I found it very interesting to listen to him while sitting beside her.
I remember as a teen in the 70's working a dairy in Ohio all through high school, especially at this time of year (dead of winter) As a teen, I was wholly preoccupied w/survival - growing up in a broken/dysfunctional home & only occasionally would (stop) to consider the big-picture life events unfolding all around me. How comforting was his voice to me on the radio, his inflection, sincerity, his humor. And, at the end of each of his news broadcasts, the "......good day." seemed fatherly, heartfelt, and caring. It caused me to feel deep inside, that some day, things would be alright. I noticed that his tone, demeanor, and delivery was different from political network TV news. He seemed to minister to the listener, his delivery being unlike any other of his time on the airwaves. I still greatly miss him, amidst all the noise & that which incessantly competes for my thoughts - then & now, during the work day. In view of that '65 speech he gave concerning this country - I was but a wee-lad then and, where we were/are headed at this late date, I can only imagine the pain, bewilderment, and disdain he'd have experienced. At least we have the memories of a gentle soul - caring, uplifting, and yet nurturing at the same time, amidst the noise then & now. How blessed we, the common man/woman, were to have him - a father figure & brother in the Faith, as an echo and light for all that was right, in a frequently dark world. So very thankful to this day for his heart.
Eighteen years ago we lived up north where winters are very cold and bitter. My husband was in the hospital for tests and I went outside for a few minutes to be alone because I was scared of what the tests might show, I didn't want to cry in the hospital because I was afraid of my husband finding out how scared I was for him. So outside into the silent, snowy winter I went. Standing there with no one around I cried. Cried and asked God why my husband? A good man, kind and compassionate, should suffer. Then I heard a sound -- The two note song of a Chickadee. In the winter up north we would set out food for those hardy wee birds. Suet blocks with rich seeds and chopped nuts and cranberries in them. Because winter can be hard on people but harder on those creatures that bear the winter outside. Yet here, in the deep of winter, sitting on a bare branch, snow heavy on the ground and the air icy, a little bird was singing. I stood there for I'm not sure how long and listened to that little bird and I didn't feel as alone. If a tiny wee bird could find within them the strength to sing, to not huddle in the dark of a warm hollow or nest, to come out and sing despite the cold of winter, could I find at least as much strength to face whatever was to come? I went back inside and waited and waited until the tests where done. Waited with my husband for the doctor to come in with the results. We both knew that the news wouldn't be good but we also knew that whatever it was, together we would face it as we'd always faced our life: Together. The news wasn't good, the prognosis was bad, the doctor spoke of odds and options and warned that nothing was certain. My husband, the bravest, kindest, most loving man I've ever known accepted the the doctors words with silent resignation. But I heard the Chickadee in my mind and knew that we had strength inside we might not realize. My husband fought the odds and beat them many times over and proved the words of the doctor wrong. He battled for 16 and a half years. Never complained, never pitied himself. He and I together faced each challenge and found moments along the way to simply be glad of being alive -- No matter how bitter the winter, how frightening the odds. It's been two and a half years since he finally faced a battle here on earth he could not win. Yet even in those last dear hours we were together, he would look at me and I saw all the love of our life together reflected in his eyes. I would lean over and kiss him ask for just one more smile. One more memory, one more silent song to remind me of life together. Life is a blessing, we are all stronger than we might think. And nothing, not the bitter cold of a winter could stop a Chickadee from their song anymore than death can still the love shared by two souls.

Michael - It’s sad that you would feel the need to speak about ANYTHING negative in comments about Paul Harvey. Your negative thoughts are also a bit odd, when you consider the subject matter of the story which he told here. You could just let others have their own beliefs, and not try to make them look like idiots. I don’t think Paul Harvey would do that.
Every Christmas morning since 1988, before we even touched a present, we listened to this story. I did it with my ex wife and do it with my current wife and kids. I cry..sob cry every time.
I was born in 1950 and first heard this in December of 1974, living all alone as a ranch hand/ caretaker on a ranch in Gillett Wyoming. As you can imagine, that's a rather lonley life style. Then on a AM radio station out of Tulsa Oklahoma I heard Mr. Paul Harvey present this story. It lifted my heart beyond measure.
I’m 72 years old and I have grown up listening to Mr. Harvey on the radio. He talked of common life and just by speaking to us he taught us a lesson. God Bless Mr. Harvey.
My first full time job out of high school was in the Receiving Dept at a hospital. An old guy who work there for years always had Paul Harvey on the radio. This was my introduction to true story telling on the radio. Wonderful memory.
Having a rough day in late June, nowhere near Christmas, and because of this mans story and GODS Grace I will move on, and keep pushing forward, thank you, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Beautiful story 🥰 God really loves us so much that He sent Jesus to live among us, heal us, show us the Way to God & save us 👼💕🥰 God Bless & Happy New Year 👼🌟🥳🎆🌞
Paula Harvey, what a true legend. He reminds me of my childhood through early adult life. More than that, he reminds me of a more wholesome America. Page 2....
I remember going fishing with my best catfishing buddy(my Grandma) and listening to Mr Paul Harvey on the way,as we drove along in her old Cadillac.I miss her,and miss Mr.Harvey..
I am in my 40s and I would listen to PH whenever my grandparents had him on the radio. He taught life lessons in such Suttle ways. How my heart misses that ❤
My dad is long gone now and I remember being in the vehicle with him listening to Paul Harvey it's brought back a good memory and it was such a good story
My dad is gone now too; for about a year and a half we rode to and from work together. We listened to Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story" every afternoon on our way home. Really miss them both. This story brought tears to my eyes, as God truly does reveal himself to us in so many wonderful and mysterious ways, often through nature (a sunrise/sunset, the force of the wind, the changing of the seasons, etc.).
I had completely forgotten this Paul Harvey story. Still gives me a lump in my throat every time. Such a simple yet powerful illustration of the love of God and the gift of Jesus to all of mankind that are searching for shelter in the storm
I really loved that guy. My dad listened to him a lot in the '60's when I was young. Me and my brothers would try to imitate him: "Paul Harvey..........good day!"
This story was told to us when i was in a Sunday school class for young adult 48 yrs ago. It may take a day, a week, a year or the rest of one's life to find a personal answer for you that only can be answered by God. At that moment when revealed, you know from where the answer comes. Thru the telling of this little story, I could then forever know why Jesus Christ came to us.
Americans loved him but He loved America and it poured out from his soul...his heart. He was prophetic as well. He gave an address in the early 70's that speaks volumes today. The road we have chosen and the consequences of taking the road...wide and easy. Now we kill each other, even our own unborn babies..now we promote lust and defilement as lifestyle choices...now we suffer at the popular culture of nice...where Truth is relative and feelings are King. Well not for long. Truth is watching us. He is allowing us to make decisions that will lead to our eternal rest. God doesn't send anyone to Hell that hasn't already chose it for themselves. You will know them by their fruits. You will see the King coming upon a cloud with His angelic army. Coming to separate the chaff from the wheat. Coming to take what is His....leaving the rest for what is Lucifer's. The Truth prevails and those that hear His voice follow Him. Paul Harvey heard His voice and we in turn were able to hear Truth. God help us. Children killing themselves because their parents weren't parents at all. "We don't believe in teaching our children about religion. We don't want to influence them. We want them to decide for themselves." Great job Mom and Dad. Let them be eaten up and spit out by ravenous wolves. Lead them to hopelessness and show them how cheap life is by supporting abortion on demand. Rant over.
@@immaculata4life I have said this before. When God made Man, He gave us "free will". We make our own choices. God does not -send us to Hell - He delivers us to where WE chose to go.
Beautiful story. His voice brings back so many memories of my Nanny’s radio in her kitchen with Paul Harvey playing while she was cooking breakfast. At such a young age I had no idea what he was talking about but I knew it was someone my Nanny loved so I too was quiet and listened. Such a different world back then. I miss it so much.
What an amazingly simple and profound explanation of God's reason for coming to the earth in human form to be with people, whom he loves so much. Ministers, Pastors, Priests, Reverends, and other Christian leaders should tell this story to their congregations on Christmas Day, and become the true Shepherds of their flocks. I started listening to Paul Harvey in the 70's. Dad and Mom would listen to him and we would listen with them.
Even though I never knew him, I truly miss this man. I listen to his program everyday growing up and I remember his last broadcast. We were so very lucky to have him touch our lives.
The Story is Open Ended left for us to Figure it out and interpret the meaning. Its a wonderful parable. To Me, the Man was doing the Exact Same Thing the Birds were doing (Running From God) and the Birds helped the Man Realize the True Meaning of the Season. It also means we must come to Jesus of our own Freewill and that we can't be Shooed or made to do so. When Paul Harvey Paused b4 Finishing the Sentence, that's when it hit the Man like a Ton of Bricks.
Beautiful story has us understand the significance of WHY God sent Jesus as God amongst us. God's love is infinite and He demonstrated the lengths of that through the birth, life, and death and resurrection of Jesus. Happy birthday Jesus, and thank you for giving your all for us. Even your birthday is more about us than you. I told my children when they were toddlers and did not understand all the strange things we were doing around Christmas, such as bringing a tree in the house, different types of decorations, all the food and getting together with friends and family ... they wondered what was all these different things about?? And I told them it was the biggest birthday in the world that people all over the world celebrate, Jesus' birthday! This started with my oldest, who asked about it all when he was 2. He wondered about it because he could see the excitement and planning but it was all odd to him. It didn't look like other birthdays to him, so I told him it is the only birthday where the birthday person doesn't get the gifts, but we do instead! My children totally got that. After explaining it to my oldest, I knew I better make it like a birthday party he was used to, and at that little age, he had discovered birthday parties and absolutely loved them. We had a birthday cake with "Happy Birthday Jesus" and a candle on it and sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus on Christmas Day. Isn't that just like God, who is infinite in all things, including the complete and total giving of Himself, to have the only birthday where we get all the presents instead of Him? It makes you consider what Christmas is really about and how we can find ways to make it more about Jesus.
Susan Sauls I also made a birthday cake and we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus, and then we all sang away in the manger. We need to get back to the true meaning of Christmas, because he is coming in the clouds soon! Lord help us to be more obedient to you our Savior King 🙏🏼🙏🏿✝️✡️🙏🏿🙏🏼🎄

The Miracle of the Scarlet Thread
It’s a book
I’m 72 years old and I have grown up listening to Mr. Harvey on the radio. He talked of common life and just by speaking to us he taught us a lesson. God Bless Mr. Harvey.
I loved listening to Paul Harvey No other like him
His soft voice lives in my heart . A hero in my heart always
My first full time job out of high school was in the Receiving Dept at a hospital. An old guy who work there for years always had Paul Harvey on the radio. This was my introduction to true story telling on the radio. Wonderful memory.
Thank you Father for Paul Harvey❤
Paul is gone, Rush is gone, radio just isn't the same. Beautiful story.

Only Paul Harvey could do it justice. Thanks for the rest of the story.

I loved Paul Harvey and his stories....I wish we had someone like him now. America needs someone who can tell stories that have such uplifting morals.
They might have the stories but not that voice☺️☺️⭐⭐
I hope you'll give Mike Rowe's "The Way I Heard It" a try. He modeled it after Paul Harvey's storeys and they always deliver.
No one like him ever again
I believe Paul has gone on ahead of us, along with many like him. But we’ll meet again, sooner than later . Maranatha 🎺🌥️🔜

It doesn't need to be the dead of winter when we find ourselves trudging through deep snow. Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas.

Paula Harvey, what a true legend. He reminds me of my childhood through early adult life.
More than that, he reminds me of a more wholesome America.

Sure miss Paul such a part of our lives for so long!!
This story is awesome! I miss Paul Harvey.
How I miss listening to Paul Harvey everyday at work. I tried to get others to listen but they were all younger than me...and they didn't get it.
I miss this guy used to run home after school every day to listen to his story on the radio
I used to listen to his radio broadcast faithfully...the man was wise beyond his years. God Bless you Paul... you are surely missed.
I remember listening to the "Rest of the Story" on my way home from work in 1978
I had completely forgotten this Paul Harvey story. Still gives me a lump in my throat every time. Such a simple yet powerful illustration of the love of God and the gift of Jesus to all of mankind that are searching for shelter in the storm
I'm 75 and I still love listening to Paul Harvey's stories.😊
I loved listening to Paul Harvey. What a wonderful story. God came as a man to walk among us, suffer with us, teach us. He loved us that much.
We need more Paul Harvey in our lives!!!!
I really loved that guy. My dad listened to him a lot in the '60's when I was young. Me and my brothers would try to imitate him: "Paul Harvey..........good day!"
LISTENING TO THIS MAN EVERY DAY DURNING MY LAUNCH BREAK IT WAS SPECIAL.
I miss men like Paul Harvey - he could always tell a wonderful story.
This story was told to us when i was in a Sunday school class for young adult 48 yrs ago. It may take a day, a week, a year or the rest of one's life to find a personal answer for you that only can be answered by God. At that moment when revealed, you know from where the answer comes. Thru the telling of this little story,
I could then forever know why Jesus Christ came to us.
Thanks so much..2022Christmas nite in Texas......Mr Harvey so great ..thanks Sir so muchwhat u did

God bless you and Merry Christmas
theslothmonkey and 5 yrs later..it’s still greatly appreciated! ✨🙏🏼✨♥️✨
We want them to decide for themselves."
Great job Mom and Dad.
I used to loved to listen to Paul, RIP Mr. Harvey
Even though I never knew him, I truly miss this man. I listen to his program everyday growing up and I remember his last broadcast. We were so very lucky to have him touch our lives.
I became a acquainted, and a fan, of Paul Harvey listening to him on Armed Forces Radio when i was stationed in South Korea, 01/1969 - 02-1970.
Amen

@@Sulposition lovely just to hear it from you in print. Thank you. June 30 2020
It makes you consider what Christmas is really about and how we can find ways to make it more about Jesus.
this is a beautiful memory, Merry Christmas to you and yours, Susan
Thank you for a beautiful Christmas story ! You were so wise in the way you presented Jesus’s Birthday to your children. How very blessed they are.❣️
Susan Sauls I also made a birthday cake and we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus, and then we all sang away in the manger. We need to get back to the true meaning of Christmas, because he is coming in the clouds soon! Lord help us to be more obedient to you our Savior King 🙏🏼🙏🏿✝️✡️🙏🏿🙏🏼🎄
Susan Sauls He said "galoshes". Doesn't that put the story back to at least the 1930es?
@@Hallands.
Brother, It really doesn't matter whether it was galoshes, sandals, or cowboy boots. Facts be known, He is returning to this Earth very soon!!! We all need to ready for His Second Coming, for it will be as King, and not as a humble Teacher & Servant.
I loved listening to Paul Harvey. Glad I came across this. What a treat. 😀 God bless all this Christmas. 🙌
