In case anyone didn't know by now, Gulab Jamun is a Indian dessert. It is made with dry milk powder, baking powder, sugar and butter, combine with milk to form a dough, knead well and form into small round balls. If you find your having trouble with the dough, feel free to add some water but by 1/4 tsp at a time and only enough to get the dough to start clumping and coming together in the bowl. In the meantime you should have some peanut oil and heat it upto temperature, 180° C. Fry until golden brown or if you prefer to darken buy frying a little longer. Last but not least comes the simple syrup, which is basically equal part water & sugar. Bring to a rolling boil and reduce heat, feel free to add rose water to heighten the taste. Reduce heat slow temp down and remove from heat source. However, only after taking the back of a metal or wooden spoon and dipping it in to the syrup. If the syrup sticks to the back of the spoon then, slow the heat down and remove the syrup of the stove slowly. After, frying them and before dropping then into the simple syrup. You can use a toothpick to poke some holes, so the Gulab Jamun can slowly soak up the simple syrup. Slowly & gently add the fried dough balls to the simple syrup and let them soak at 8 hrs to overnight. Then remove them and set on a rack, so the excess syrup drips off. Then roll in shredded coonut and serve either warm or cold. ENJOY ur Gulab jamun, Gulab means Rose in India and in Sanskrit. 😍😍😍
