That Kawhi shot man, still in my opinion the best buzzer beater to happen of all time.
First off a game 7 buzzer beaters are super rare. Let alone be the season the raptors won it all, and the only time ever!
The combo of the suspense of bouncing on the rim, the audience, what the win meant for all of Canada, was absolutely insane.
I think anyone is hard pressed to come up with one other buzzer beater that was more fun to watch, or more important to a team ever.

As a Raptor fan I couldn't agree more. Being from the mid to late Bosh era and having being mediocre until 2014 and even then getting bounced by bron every after 2014-2015 was always painful considering we had great teams that could always go farther if he wasn't in the east. So to see us finally break through in a moment like this does mean a lot to us.

Yeah that is absolutely true considering everything at stakes win or go home 76ers or raptors embiid or kawhi although I do think if 76ers win they lose anyways to the warriors so I’ll say the kawhi game 7 shot was absolutely insane.

3:41 The greatest clutch shot ever. Down 3-2 in the series, down 3 with less than a minute left, and backpedaling into the corner (something Ray literally practiced for). I love MJ's final shot as a Bull, I love LeBron's chase down block and Kyrie's 3 to win it all in 2016, but Ray Allen's corner 3 forever lives in my mind and I still can't believe it!

      Triple OT, right?

  • @Milordvega
    @Milordvega 3 года назад +110

Great collection! I notice though most of the clips are from the past 20 years. As I am a middle-aged fan (born in the 1960's) who started following pro hoops (including ABA) from 1975 or 1976, I would like to contribute some suggestions of great NBA playoff moments before 2000. And I actually got to choose up to 50! (Material for a second video?)
    Here they are:
    1. 1957 Game 7 Finals: St. Louis misses a last second shot in 2nd OT and Celtics win first title under Bill Russell
    2. 1962 Game 7 Finals: Score tied with seconds in regulation, but Lakers miss last second shot which would have won title, game goes to OT and Celtics win 5th straight title 3. 1966 Game 7 Finals: Bill Russell scores driving dunk with 1 minute left to put Celtics up by 10, but Lakers storm back and nearly tie it but lose 95-93 4. 1969 Game 4 Finals: Sam Jones beats the buzzer with off-balance shot to give Celtics a one-point victory and tie the series at 2-2 vs. the Lakers 5. 1969 Game 7 Finals: Don Nelson makes a miracle shot (ball bounces off back of rim, bounces way high up, then falls down through basket for 2 points) with time running out and Celtics again beat Lakers in close one for Russell's last title
    6. 1970 Game 7 Finals: Injured Willis Reed heroically shows up for game and scores first 2 baskets for Knicks to energize them to victory 7. 1974 Game 6 Finals: Before Kareem's winning basket, John Havlicek of Celtics made an incredible high-arching shot over Kareem's arms to give Celtics a 1-point lead which would have won them the title if not for Kareem's great hook shot which followed 8. 1976 Game 7 Eastern semis: Score tied between Bullets and Cavaliers, seconds left, and a Cavs guard (Frank Synder, I think) scores a layup off a give-and-go play and Cavs win by 2 and Cleveland home crowd storms court 9. 1976 Game 5 Finals: in second overtime of classic triple-overtime thriller, Celtics lead by 3 with less than 20 seconds left, but Suns score two quick baskets to lead by 1; Celtics with 5 seconds left go to John Havlicek who makes at tremendous bank shot to give Boston a 1-point lead with 1 second left; after Jo Jo White makes a technical shot free throw, Celtics are up by 2 with 1 second left, but Suns' Garfield Heard makes a turnaround shot to send game to third overtime. ONE OF GREATEST GAMES IN HISTORY 10. 1977 Game 6 Finals: Erving scores a lot of dunks off Portland defenders, but with seconds left and 76ers behind by two, George McGinnis misses a shot and Portland wins the title and fans storm court (for a sequence from a winning game for Philadelphia, there was also Julius Erving's vicious fastbreak dunk in Dave Cowens' face in Game 7 of the Eastern semis between the 76ers and the defending champion Celtics) 11. 1979 Game 7 Eastern Finals: Bob Dandridge makes a shot to give Bullets a two-point lead with seconds left, and then Elvin Hayes blocks a San Antonio shot and defending champion Bullets win to overcome a 3-1 series deficit versus the Spurs
    12. 1980 Game 1 West Finals: Dennis Johnson makes a near half-court shot with less than a second left to lead Sonics to 1-point victory over Milwaukee Bucks 13. 1980 Game 4 Finals: Erving's famous reverse layup to give Philadelphia a 7-point lead as 76ers tie series with Lakers
    14. 1980 Game 5 Finals: Jabbar comes back from ankle injury to score 40 points, including a three-point play (slam dunk with a foul on Erving) to give the Lakers the 3-point lead with half a minute left, as Lakers take 3-2 series lead
    15. 1980 Game 6 Finals: Rookie Magic Johnson takes place of injured Jabbar at center and scores 42 to bring Lakers the title (TBC)

      Part II:
      16. 1981 Game 7 East Finals: Larry Bird makes a bank shot with a minute left to give Celtics the comeback 91-90 victory as Celtics roar back from 3-1 series deficit to beat 76ers and advance to NBA Final
      17. 1981 Game 1 Finals: Larry Bird leads Boston to victory versus Houston; scores his famous follow-up shot with the left hand from the baseline 18. 1982 Game East Finals: This time, the 76ers win Game 7 on the road versus Boston, and with seconds left, the home Boston crowd salutes the victorious 76ers and cheer "Beat LA! Beat LA!" to inspire them to beat the Lakers. The 76ers lost the 1982 Finals, but that was the FIRST TIME that the "Beat LA!" chant started 19. 1984 Game 1, first round series: Bernard King and Isiah Thomas in a scoring duel, as Thomas scores 16 points in 90 seconds left to bring game to OT, but Knicks pull out the road win
      20. 1984 Game 2, Finals: Gerald Henderson steals the ball and ties the game as Celtics send game to OT and win, tying series at 1-1; without the steal, Celtics would have been down 2 games to none and been in danger of being swept. Instead, they win series.
      21. 1984 Game 4, Finals: With Boston down 2-1 in series, they show they would not go down fighting as Kevin McHale clotheslines Kurt Rambis in the third quarter, and with seconds left in OT, Larry Bird makes a turnaround shot to win game for Boston and tie series at 2-2 (they could have been down 3-1) 22. 1985 Game 6, Finals: Jabbar scores a long hookshot from corner to give Lakers an insurmountable lead as Lakers finally beat Celtics for NBA title 23. 1986 Game 6 Finals: Bird plays a tremendous game to lead Boston to title; in one memorable sequence in third quarter, he dribbles to the corner with the shotclock running down and buries a three-pointer to give Celtics a 25-point lead and the Rockets soon call timeout as Boston Garden roars 24. 1987 Game 5 first round-series: As the home Milwaukee Bucks are about to eliminate the 76ers, Julius Erving makes a three-point shot for his last career points in the NBA and is substituted for the last time, and the fans give him a rousing ovation
      25. 1987 Game 5 East Finals: BIRD STEALS THE BALL AND PASSES IT TO DJ FOR THE GAME-WINNING BASKET AS BOSTON BEATS DETROIT BY 1 TO TAKE 3-2 SERIES LEAD TO 26. 1987 Game 6 Finals: Lakers beat Boston as they rally in third quarter from halftime deficit, with barrage of fastbreaks including 1 famous sequence where James Worthy dives for the loose ball near the midcourt line and before going out of bounds, taps the ball forward to Magic Johnson who drives in alone for a fastbreak dunk
      27. 1988 Game 7 East semis: Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins go mano a mano in the 4th quarter, with Bird scoring 20 points in quarter to Wilkins' 16, as Boston pulls off close victory; a key shot was Bird's drive-in lefthanded layup to give Celtics a 5-point lead with about 20 seconds left 28. 1988 Game 6 Finals: Lakers hang on to 1-point victory by withstanding Isiah Thomas' heroic performance on broken ankle: a record 25 points in third quarter 29. 1989 Game 6 Eastern Finals: Bulls lose this game, but Jordan has sequence where he steals the ball, taps it to teammate at halfcourt, gets it back for a tremendous 360 degree back-to-the-basket shot off a Bill Laimbeer foul 30. 1989 Game 4 Finals: with seconds left and Detroit about to win the title, retiring Laker center Kareem Abdul Jabbar is substituted with a minute to go, and the home fans chant "Kareem... Kareem... Kareem..." as the seconds tick by to the end (TBC)

      (PART III)
      31. 1990 Game 5 first round-series: With two minutes left in Knicks-Celtics deciding game, Patrick Ewing makes a tremendous three-point shot while saving the ball from going out of bounds in the left corner, as Boston pulls off upset win to signal that the Knicks were now the rising Atlantic Division power, replacing Boston 32. 1991 Game 6 Western Finals: With Lakers holding 3-2 series lead and holding on to 1-point lead, Portland's Terry Porter misses a shot and Magic gets rebounds and just flips ball towards the other side of court, allowing it to roll down the floor as the seconds pass, and Lakers win the series 33. 1991 Game 4 East Finals: Does this count? Jordan and the Bulls finally beat the Pistons, and the Detroit stars walk off the court with seconds left instead of congratulating the victorious Bulls (a famous or infamous moment from game is when Dennis Rodman shoves Scottie Pippen to the basket support as Pippen was driving for a left-handed layup; Pippen sustained a wound near his eye but did not lose his composure) 34. 1991 Game 2 Finals: JORDAN MAKES HIS FAMOUS SWITCH-HANDS LAYUP
      35. 1993 Game 4 East first round: With 3 seconds left and Charlotte trailing by 1 versus Boston, rookie ALONZO MOURNING MAKES SHOT FROM TOP OF THE KEY with 0.4 seconds left as Hornets eliminate Boston on Kevin McHale's last game 36. 1993 Game 6, West semis: Charles Barkley makes shot against David Robinson's defense as Suns wrap up series versus Spurs 37. 1993 Game 2, East Finals: John Starks drives and makes lefthanded dunk off Jordan with seconds left as Knicks beat Bulls for 2-0 series lead (they would blow it though) 38. 1993 Game 5, East Finals: with Knicks trailing by 1 and second left, ball goes to PF Charles Smith under the basket but he keeps getting blocked as he is swarmed by various Bulls defenders (Jordan, Pippen, Grant) - he was blocked at least 4 times and Bulls hold on for 3-2 series lead; they will eventually win in 6 39. 1994 Game 5, First Round series: Denver Nuggets become first 8th seed to upset the #1 seed in first round as Nuggets win close game in OT in Seattle: Dikembe Mutombo famously grabs ball as time expires and lies down the court rejoicing 40. 1994 Game 7 East Finals: Patrick Ewing makes follow-up dunk off John Starks miss with seconds left as Madison Square Garden crowd wildly cheer Knicks' victory as they make Finals for first time since 1973 41. 1994 Game 6 East Finals: With Knicks leading series 3-2 but trailing by 1 with seconds left, a hot John Starks takes a three-point shot which would have won them the game and title, but gets blocked by Hakeem as Rockets hold on for win and tie series 42. 1995 Game 7 East semis: With Knicks trailing by 2 versus Pacers, Ewing drives for a finger roll but MISSES as Indiana finally eliminates Knicks from playoffs
      43. 1995 Game 4 East Finals: Pacers and Magic go back and forth with baskets in last 20 seconds to give each team the lead, but in final sequence, Rick Smits makes a buzzer-beater as Pacers win by 1 and tie series 44. 1995 Game 1 Finals: Magic with 3 point-lead in final seconds BLOW IT as Nick Anderson misses 4 FTs in a row and the Rockets send it to OT with Kenny Smith three-pointer: then with seconds left in OT, Dennis Scott of Magic ties the game with a three-pointer, but Hakeem wins the game with a buzzer-beating follow-up shot
      45. 1997 Game 4, Western 1st Round: Rex Chapman makes off-balance three pointer to send Sonics-Suns game to OT
      46. 1997 West Finals Game 4: Houston's Eddie Johnson makes buzzer-beater to win game and tie series vs Utah 47. 1997 Finals, Game 6: John Stockton takes over game in final minutes and wins it with steal and then with rebound off a Jordan miss and a FULL-LENGTH OF THE COURT PASS to a streaking Karl Malone for the game-winning layup as Jazz tie series (one of greatest assists of all time); if you prefer a sequence only from the winning team, then there's also the Flu Game where MJ scores 38 in Game 5, including the winning three-pointer with 25 seconds left
      48. 1999 Eastern Finals Game 3: Larry Johnson makes game-winning FOUR-POINT PLAY as Knicks beat Pacers to take 2-1 series lead
      49. 1999 Western Finals Game 2: Sean Elliot makes an off-balance three-pointer while narrowly avoiding going out of bounds as San Antonio takes 2-0 lead vs. Portland (Memorial Day Miracle)
      50. 1999 NBA Finals, Game 5: Avery Johnson makes shot from left corner with about 47 seconds left to give Spurs a 1-point lead and the victory versus the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden; the first championship for Tim Duncan and the Spurs
      CHEERS!

Gotta say, for me, think top three have to be:
    3) Kawhi vs. 76ers, Game 7: East Finals
    2) MJ vs. Jazz, Game 6: NBA Finals
    1) Ray Allen vs. Spurs, Game 6: NBA Finals
I think you could realistically flip any of them around and still be right.

Look I’m from Portland and even I will say that there are plenty of greater moments than those two. That being said that Kobe shot in Round 1 of a series where they blew a 3-1 lead and lost is insanely overrated. If that wasn’t Kobe nobody would care about that shot at all, let’s be honest.

There are and will be a lot of buzzers, lot of blocks, assists, floaters, rebounds, alley-hoops, dunks and layups.
There will be only one play where the greatest player of all time ends his career with an almost buzzer beater shot to give his team Championship number 6 in the decade.
There will also be only one play where the best player in the league, who promised his city an NBA title, does a monster clutch block in game 7 with 1 minute to play against, virtually, one of the best teams of all time, while playing for a much weaker side.
Those are the two greatest moments in NBA play-off history.

    • @Mmacrossfirekenai
      @Mmacrossfirekenai Год назад

Nope. There is aways more than one play and more than one player that can be considered for GOAT. And in this case that shot didn't even end his career, it spawned a comeback and two playoff-missing years in Washington.
