Ahmed is 28 years old and lives in Manama, Bahrain. He has sickle cell disease. He has a sister who carries the trait and an older brother who does not have sickle cell disease. Even though he lives with this disease, he find ways to create beautiful art which he uses to ground himself and take control of his life. This is his story.

I’m with you in spirit. I was just released from hospital after getting two units of blood. I understand the pain as feeling like you are on fire.
I’m grateful for the doctors here that show true compassion and empathy.
My art is my cooking. I have a full satisfaction when I create meals that others enjoy. I totally understand what you mean.
