Sam, these are awesome! It'd be great to see more tutorials on random images to understand how you edit better. I am not necessarily talking about how you make your top images but rather how you go about editing 'boring' shots into eye-catching ones. I love the night blues you have there - it really makes evening photos pop.
I've come to photography later on in life and information doesn't always stay in your head. I've struggled with aperture, shutter, ISO etc but I screenshot the poster you put on screen, and it's helped enormously. Thank you.
Information never just stays in your head, otherwise you would have a photographic memory. what you need is to apply the knowledge immediately and get in some repetition for it to stay. And dont stop doing that, otherwise you might loose your knowledge after some time

Great street work with your 85mm. I bought an f/1.4 version a few months ago and don't regret the purchase. The images are awesome and it's usually with my gear kit on most days (including gigs). The motor will have to fail before I let this lens go!

Hey man thanks for this. Do you have a A6000 at night with such lenses, I just saw your other video with kitlens and the images were amazing. Just wondering how it feels to have it at night with such aftermarket lens though?
Closest I have to a 85 f1.4 on my Fuji is a 50 f1.0 which is approximately equivalent to 75 f1.5 on full frame. I like that lens a lot, but I don’t have many streets to photograph in. We have like two streets through center of town, so it’s very limited what I can go shoot. I can follow roads further, but then I’ll just end up in very dark areas. So I’m a little envious of people that live in cities.
Honestly cities are overrated sometimes, yes it’s great for me to show street photography but I’d much before a small town where I can get more creative. The city has its limitations.
@@Opticalwander So here’s the question, for this type of photography & some cocktail stuff, would you spring for the 1.2 GM or wait for the rumored cheaper 1.4 GM that’s coming?
Of course it’s fantastic but primes are more often than not cheaper than 70-200 f2.8’s plus you get the wider aperture with a prime. But the 70-200 is also great at night.

Personally I would go with the 24-70 f/2.8. That 2.8 is more than enough for night photography. But you can always rent both and that'd help you decide which to go with! Best wishes!!🙏🏼
Yea, I'm also thinking about the Sigma 24-70, but I'm leaning more towards Saymang because it's a lot cheaper. The main difference for me between those two is minimum focus distance which for Sigma is 18cm and for Samyang is 35cm
I did talk about this in another upload and on ig, uploading daily was hurting my channel more than helping. Looking at analytics 11500 people have notifications turned on, before I upload daily over a 7 day period 5-6000 people would click on that notification. When doing daily that figure dropped to just 53 in the same 7 day period. The anticipation of my videos for those long term subscribers was lost and inevitably hurting my channel because those regular viewers are what boost my video when I upload. When they click the notification it tells RUclips that the video Is worth showing in more places, with the reduction of those clicks RUclips was showing my content to less and less people. The channel health is way more important than uploading every day. Hope this helps explains why.

Get a tripod and learn long exposure. Can take pictures in really dark places!

Could you do street photography with a 35mm?
What about the flexibility of a 70-200 f2.8?

I own 28-70mm kit lens and a 50mm 1.8
The 85mm f1.8 is a great lens also and you can get it at a good price. It may be slower on auto focus but not by much.
Which 12-24mm lens are you using in studio? F/2.8 GM or f/4 G? I’ve been really enjoying your channel, thanks!

I'm torn between buying Samyang 24-70 2.8 or Samyang 85 1.4. I already have 28-70 3.5-5.6 but it's not good for night photography.
