how long does it take you to get grade 8 pieces to your standards for recording? would you consider yourself an efficient learner? i can imagine some pieces will be standard repetoire too, how often does this happen? just curious, thank you for the excellent and helpful videos!

Each Grade 8 piece on this channel was learned and recorded in the space of a couple of hours! Sight-reading is one of the most valuable skills you can develop as a musician. Some of the pieces are 'standard repertoire', you're right, but as even just standard piano repertoire is so huge (let alone the 'non-standard' repertoire!) it is quite coincidental/lucky if a piece comes up which you already know.
