Good Score ! ! ! I've watched Mr. Proenneke's ALONE IN THE WILDERNESS many times , having such a piece in remaniscence of that is really nice , Good For You Dan ! ! !
Oh man. What a great ax. Jealous. I grew up in a hardware store. One of my favorite jobs was hanging an ax. We charged $2 for the handle and $1 to hang. I wasn't trusted to do the final filling until I was 17. But yes, each head is different. Wonderful video. I love axes.
I own a DVD (ordered from PBS) of "Alone In The Wilderness" and have watched it several times (also read the book) - always an inspiration. Way cool to get an axe like that, Dan - I know you will enjoy using it.
Wow! Now that's awesome brother! What a nice Axe 🪓 so glad he found one for you. Nice job Joe! Dick Proenneke was the man and an absolute legend! Was one side for heavy work and the other bit for roots and such thats how i heard it? I get that excited opening packages from you by the way 😂. Another awesome video as always brother 💪 👍
Definately a cruiser size. I remember going into Gambles when I was young. I think all of my grandparents appliances came from there as did my grandfathers binoculars. Not cheap in their day but less money because they were made in Japan. They are on my bedroom window sill. I have a cruiser like that with a local hardware brand name on it that I believe was from the same manufacturer just branded with hardware store name which was common.
Heck yeah awesome video Dan !! So happy to see you so excited for the axe, looks like you’re going to have a blast with it. Enjoy man !! Looking forward to more videos with it 🤙
OMG I've been fascinated by that guy ever since I was a little boy seeing those clips on PBS. Winter has set in, it is -20° outside but my cabin is warm, a cozy 40°F lol
Спасибо за ролик. Как всегда без воды и с практикой. Но о вкусах , привычках и т.д. не спорят - предпочитаю "топор таёжный" русскую версию . И легче и по работе не хуже.
And - just last week, I bought Abe Lincoln’s original axe! I asked the guy, “Are you SURE it is his original axe? The head says ‘Plumb’ right here. They weren’t in business then.” He assured me it was Abe’s axe. “It had the handle renewed 3 times, and the head renewed twice. But it’s his original axe.” Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
He’s going to make one for it. When I put together the axe I had a total brain fart and forgot to make a sheath I was just so excited about getting the axe to him.

That guy was a craftsman, a master of hand tools. He was tough too, doing what he did in his 50's. Great video.
She’s a beaut Clark, she’s a beaut!!
What a beauty. Slightly jealous on that one.
That is a beautiful axe! I hope to see it many more of your videos. Dick Proenneke was a true pioneer!
Just a little jelly here. What a beaut! Dick Proenekke is Legend. That’s a fine piece of history.
Pretty cool Dan. Thanks for sharing
Good video. Thanks
How about a look at your axe collection? That would be a cool series!!!🎉
No, not a new tool for your arsenal but a new toy for your arsenal. The joyous look on your face carrying that axe to the work site was precious!
👍 Very nice axe your friend Joe provided. Your excitement about receiving it was very evident in the video. Enjoy!
You look like a kid with a big bag of candy and I want one too lol love it love the video keep it up
I bought a DVD about him for my dad at least ten years ago. I think they showed it on PBS once and he liked it
BROOOO!!! he's my hero man! I didn't even see your video yet. But I seen Dick Pernakee build his cabin at LEAST a hundred times!!!!!
That's cool!! You never know who you may run it to in this life. You were like a kid in a candy store opening that package.
What a terrific axe! Congrats on snagging one. Use it and enjoy it.
lucky duck! enjoy. excited to see the cover you make for it.

Oh wow!… everything about this axe is so pretty… and I love the contrast of the different woods where the wedge is!
The wedge I used is red oak. I love the sharp contrast between red oak and a hickory handle. Can’t beat it, classic look !!
if you ever have the opportunity to visit his cabin it is well worth the time.
Very, very cool! Congratulations on that score.

just to see on film something even close to what mr Proenneke might have held is insane to folks like us. thank you.
My family went to his cabin a couple years ago, it was amazing.
Thanks for sharing you lucky dog.
Going to have to look up Dick Proenneke because I missed out on this person.
Thank you for this video. It looks like a sweet axe.

Super sick man!! Congrats!!
Nice!
Wow, that’s a beauty.
YES!!! fish and chips!!!
One of my favorite things from PBS don’t we all want to live in the woods after his story. I always thought one side was just sharper now I know why.
Can you do video on my Norlund Voyageur or Charter arms Skatchet? I think they are unique and versatile tools.
That's a really cool axe really gel I want one now lol 🤣
Watched him build that cabin many times.

Cool, thanks! Now i have a new, hard to find axe to find!🤣
can we ask you what the name of the book was that you mentioned?
Do you have a leather sheath for the axe
He’s going to make one for it. When I put together the axe I had a total brain fart and forgot to make a sheath I was just so excited about getting the axe to him.
👍
Am I the only one wondering where that spider ended up? 🤔😂
i had a Cruiser Axe at place in Kink Ak, i loved the thing.
