He needs to STOP saying that “We know he gives EVERYTHING, he doesn’t cheat us.” No he doesn’t-he NEVER plays defense. Defense is mostly effort. Never said he had to be a DPOY guy but he is/was far too athletic to have never given effort on that side of the court. There are other ways to effect the game when you can’t shoot

That would be ideal, but I don’t think he needs, or should, come off the bench. Teams want a spark plug, someone who can score or maintain a lead so the starters can rest. His style is too reckless. If he works on his defense and lower his turnovers, he has potential to be a decent starter.

People need to understand that Russ goes all out on OFFENSE (and even that doesn't work at times). He may legit be the worst defensive point guard I've ever seen. His feet are like cement he can't stay in front of someone to save his life, and there are numerous times the ball is a few feet from him and he's just standing completely still while his teammates fight for a lose ball.

Stephen A was one of the ones leading the charge saying Westbrook needed to chase a ring. Everyone else could see plain as day the dude was a good hoope5, but couldn't play championship basketball. If everyone would have kept their mouths shut, Russ would probably still be in DC doing what Russ does best. Hooping and putting on a show. Because of influence of media folk like Stephan A, Russ has put a major black mark on his career
@nect0n I'm not saying they dictated it, but the Narrative and publicity definitely influenced it. Also, if you're taking everything Russ says in interviews at face value, then you might want to learn to read people and situations a little better. Last year he claimed he had no interest in winning a title. Then in the offseason goes and joins a team that is only interested in winning a title. This year he says he doesnt take any of the criticism to heart, but starts hesitating when taking shots and making decisions on the court, then comes out and complains about being called Westbrick. Not to mention the tone of his voice during some of these interviews now. He's acting like nothing gets to him, but clearly it does.

Facts
Russ always had issues with shooting and shot selection. He never worked on it because he kept cheating on defensive assignments to chase triple doubles and now that he can't do that on the Lakers he's been exposed.

I love Pat Beverley, but his tweet at the beginning is misleading. One of his Western Conference appearances was with the Rockets in 2015 and he missed that entire postseason with an injury. Jason Terry started in his place.
