Exploring an abandoned village in Japan

Japan’s countryside is dying.
If you’ve ever visited rural Japan or watched this channel before, it should come as no surprise that Japan is becoming littered with abandoned buildings.
Everywhere across Japan, the number of abandoned homes are rising year after year as the population shrinks and more and more people move to mega cities like Tokyo and Osaka.
Estimates put the number of abandoned homes at 9 million nationwide.
As a part of this epidemic, entire villages have been cleared out and left abandoned, especially in the mountains where distance and isolation makes living and working hard.
We’ll be taking a look at one of these places today.
