I sing this to my son every night when he can't get to sleep. It used to mean a lot to me thinking back on relationships I've had, but it means so much more as a father. ❤
That’s beautiful, my dad used to drive me around to help me fall asleep. It was a double edged sword though braces it would either knock me out or get my little baby adrenaline pumping and I would say “faster” over and over lol. I hope you and your son are well!
My high school girlfriend introduced me to DCfC by putting this on a mix CD (ha, remember those?) she made me for my birthday. One of the happiest memories of my life was putting this on and singing along with her during the long drive down her street to take her home. Needless to say, we broke up later on. It's been almost 20 years since then and some days I still wish things had turned out differently between us.
Ben Gibbard is an exceptionally talented lyricist and songwriter. Somehow, he distills the human condition into uncanny and vivid imagery that is as clearly understood as much as it is emotionally moving.
I roll the window down, And then begin to breathe in, The darkest country road, And the strong scent of evergreen, From the passenger seat as, You are driving me home, Then looking upwards, I strain my eyes and try, To tell the difference between, Shooting stars and satellites, From the passenger seat as, You are driving me home, Do they collide ? I ask and you smile, With my feet on the dash, The world doesn't matter. When you feel embarrassed, Then I'll be your pride, When you need directions, Then I'll be the guide, For all time, For all time.
@@gustavmyers29 How you doing Gustav? Keep smiling, take a walk in the forest, learn to love yourself. Seek help please. I don't even know you and your pain makes me cry
I lost my uncle in January, whom I loved very dearly & was an everpresent person in my life. He was feeling rather unwell when I saw him for the last time at the very end of October the previous year. I remember that last time I was visiting him, throughout the whole journey there & back, Transatlanticism album was playing on, especially the title track & this one. It has been an emotional turmoil ever since January listening to this album, especially these 2 songs.
Even though I don’t remember ever hearing this song played in the car when I was young, it reminds me of how it felt to drive around Connecticut through the few city’s and all the country roads with my mom late at night. Man sometimes I wish we could just press replay on some big tv screen and relive those moments.
Not all soulmates are lovers..... this has been mine and my best friend's "song" for a decade now. I have had 2 soul crushing relationships since then. She will still always be my guide. For all time. 💜
We had a loss in our family of a very special Daughter, Granddaughter, sister, cousin 12.21,.21, I Remember when I use to make her listen to this album with me when she was like 11 or 12 years old , she ended up loving it as I knew she would. I've been listening to DCFC all day just remembering her being my passenger and laughing having the best time ...I miss you Maribel with All my heart I wish you could be here with us listening to this album as we did before....
This song reminds me of my brother.... he's been missing for over a year and we shared a strong love for music. He got me into DCFC going on 20 years ago now. I wish I could find him :( Miss you Cody James

This song feels like a memory of someone I haven't met yet

Thank you
we all wanna do it XD
I just love how the first time he sings "For all time" it feels like a question, but when it's repeated, it feels like a promise. ❤
Moving song.... a walk down memory lane listening to this and it ain't easy.
Two weeks ago I had to put my dog down of 13 years. This song reminds me of him, I miss him so much. RIP Benji 🐶
I thought of my dog tonight while listening and cried. This is a sad song.
This song is almost too painful to listen to. I can still feel this song from 15 years ago, feels like time travel.
I'm stumbling upon all of these songs right after losing my best friend and I wish he was here to hear them all with me. I miss you, Nick.
Sorry for you loss keep your head up. Going thru a suicidal time rn as usual don’t know if imma make it

My name ironically is nick. I'm sure your friend would want to see you move on as best you can and live the best you can make. Keep things up man.
