I met dmx at the mall a year ago in portland maine for summer fest. He bought my kids as well as many others sneakers and backpacks for school. Very giving man. My phone died and his entourage took a photo and texted it to me directly. Awesome people hands down. I want to see him win. What a legend.

I definitely shed tears when X died. A few days after I was driving through the mountains by me in the evening and I put together a playlist of just DMX songs. I was immediately taken back to my childhood years (6-9th grade) so many great memories vividly flooded my mind even the fact that X was a fundamental inspiration to me starting to write my own rhymes and creating. Just picture a kid at a table at night studying his first 3 albums and experimenting with his own thoughts etc.. then the tears came when SLIPPIN came on, it reminded me of his painful childhood and conditions that contributed to the Demons that ultimately would be his demise and for that I cried for his struggle etc.. It really says something that despite all of that he was such a monumental contribution to the game touched so many lives. As I let the tears freely fall I thanked him for everything he provided me as a kid and then the song FAME came on and as I finished my thought the line “what I say will remain here after I’m gone I’m still here on the strength of a song I live on”. I immediately burst into laughter and later at the end he says “relatives grieving but I ain’t went nowhere listen to the song IM RIGHT THERE”. Call me crazy but I KNOW he heard me and responded in song. RIP DMX!

Heart attacks may interrupt a life after battling long-term drug addiction. It's sad how it all caught up to him after he was getting his life on track.
Family said he didn't overdose...I believe them. This is the healthiest and coherent I've seen him. Maybe it was just clogged arteries that created the heart attack or drugs was already in his system that helped create the heart attack. If he went out clean or not of an overdose, I hope they confirm it so people can't say he died an addict. He so desperately wanted deliverance from his demons; his legacy deserves the truth. @@lolavirginia6766 Yes, she was his soul mate. Even though he was engaged to another woman, I feel like he still loved Tashera more than anybody else. They probably could've made it if they had another go-round later in life, with him being sober like he appears to be now.
I definitely shed tears when X died. A few days after I was driving through the mountains by me in the evening and I put together a playlist of just DMX songs. I was immediately taken back to my childhood years (6-9th grade) so many great memories vividly flooded my mind even the fact that X was a fundamental inspiration to me starting to write my own rhymes and creating. Just picture a kid at a table at night studying his first 3 albums and experimenting with his own thoughts etc.. then the tears came when SLIPPIN came on, it reminded me of his painful childhood and conditions that contributed to the Demons that ultimately would be his demise and for that I cried for his struggle etc.. It really says something that despite all of that he was such a monumental contribution to the game touched so many lives. As I let the tears freely fall I thanked him for everything he provided me as a kid and then the song FAME came on and as I finished my thought the line “what I say will remain here after I’m gone I’m still here on the strength of a song I live on”. I immediately burst into laughter and later at the end he says “relatives grieving but I ain’t went nowhere listen to the song IM RIGHT THERE”. Call me crazy but I KNOW he heard me and responded in song. RIP DMX!
