Finally decided to change the cabin air filter at 20K miles. Followed the video. It is super easy. Thank you Scott. Only thing I would add is to use a cloth to clean the empty filter cabin before put a new one in. My filter cabin has dirt, debris and some leaves.
Hi Scott, Thanks for the video. Wanted to make one addition. There are spots for 4 screws, too. 2017 Q7 had 2 installed. Need a T-20 to remove. There were only 4 click tabs. But the install was otherwise as you described. Arrow on filter points into the cabin. Pretty sure you mentioned this, but a few missed your comment. FYI, the engine air filter is easy to install. There are two metal clips in front of the cowling holding it down. Release the clips and lift the front of the cowling to ~45 degrees, then pull it out. Air filter is held in with a single screw on the top (need a T-20). You have to lift the free side of the air filter before you can remove it. It's snug, but will pull out.
Air flow arrows point into passenger cabin direction and there are no no tools required on my 2018 Q7 3.0T Prestige cabin air filter replacement. Well done job and great video and kid commentary. Thanks Scott!! Rock-On DIY nation.
Thanks for this video Scott. You're indeed correct, there were no other videos related to this maintenance. This really helped. I'm now interested in the engine air filter replacement as there is no videos available. I can only see a screw in the center but it does not give way after removal. Looking forward to your response. Thanks again boss.
Great video, Scott! Victor , as far as the air filter replacement goes , after you take out the one screw take a small pry bar and easily pry between the filter housing and the air filter, and it will push away. Take the new filter and tip it in on an angle so it slips over the two pipes sitting, causing it to sit flush on the bottom. Replace the screw and you're done.
Are you sure the airflow goes away from the fire wall ? I put my hand inside and it seems to draw air in from under the glove box through two vents and then out toward the firewall and up . Meaning the direction of flow would be toward the firewall . Just a question I know you pulled it out and saw the previous arrows on the old filter but seems backwards .
So this was my suspicion too - I couldn't imagine that the factory got the filter in wrong, but it really seems that on my car the filter was installed incorrectly (!?)- I suspect that you are 100% correct.
Scott , i just pulled mine and the arrow is pointing in to the firewall. which one is rigth? I also had two screws that i removed with a t20 in the center. interesting
Hey so I'm getting some notes that some of you have torx screws to deal with ( I did not need tools of any kind.) and the filter goes in/out opposite from my car - I assume these are model year changes or some other variation, maybe by country.
Audi's headlight module replacement involves online coding. It should be performed online coding according to the fault code guidance function. I can recommend you a better tool is Phoenix Plus, you can try it

Thank you! I don’t know how you would have figured that out! The job was full of surprises. Thanks for stopping me from ripping the glove box out.

Mine doesn't have any T-20, 2017 Q7, mine is the same as the video. pull directly.
Mine has the screw for the cabin air filter as well. Interesting that some Q7s are screwed into place while others are not.
Those which have the screw - we are screwed. Mine does have a screw.

Thanks for the video! Just to confirm, the install is identical for 2021 q7 as well.
Thank you Scott for doing this. Big help. Appreciate you going to the trouble. Sure helped me!
Video matches perfectly with a 2018 Audi Q7. Thank you!
Thank you for your informative straightforward steps to replace this cabin air filter. I could only find your video too. 👍

So which direction should the arrows face?? Towards me or towards the engine??:🤔
Thank you! Nice job explaining how to do it.

IF YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE, CAN YOU POST WHICH WAY THE AIRFLOW ARROW WAS POINTING? TOWARDS THE CABIN OR FIREWALL?

Do you have video for air filter change?
Perfect. Less than 1/3 of the cost. I got the "expensive" filter from amazon

thx my dude
Thanks so much for this video
Went and pulled my filter, it was previously installed pointing into the firewall. Wonder what is correct....
Interesting - I wonder if it really matters? I'll never know now that I pulled it out... maybe other can tell us as they do this procedure?
If there is a direction it will have arrows I’m sure, the golf has the denso one with the arrows, VW would have arrows if it mattered
Excellent thank you!
Thank you!!
Thanks for the info
You bet
4/19/24 - Audi Plano wants 134.02 for changing this filter. Less than 10 minutes work.
