Yeah I think most people universally shit on SOR3 because of the soundtrack. I think it's amazing, but still prefer 2 because it's the first Genesis game I bought on my own and played so much that I could go start to finish without dying.
The attack sfx made the impacts feel weaker, BUT- the faster attacks and movements made the combat feel more intense and violent in my opinion. I played Bare Knuckle 3 since childhood (Japanese version). I agree that 3 has the beat gameplay and fighting mechanics of the first 3, hands down.
Your discussion about the sfx mak8ng the impacts weaker reminds me of how the animation in past Super Robo Wars games had weight instead of the wet pool noodle that is recent ones like SRW DD.
The fact you put in effort to review this 30 year old game deserves at least a like. But it’s accurate - the best SOR is SOR Remake, where you can take the players/style of SOR3 but play normal SOR1/2 levels and enhanced music.

SOR is getting an official new entry, aswell as an new shinobi game and in really excited for both. This video was also nice! I haven't tried out SOR 3 myself and only heard about its soundtrack so this made me quite interested in playing it.

I'm shocked you don't know how to unlock Roo. You don't have to use a cheat code to get him. You have to beat The clown dude/ Roo's tamer and then Roo goes off the stage (as you have it shown in your video). Since you have done that he is now playable, no code needed

Completely agree, it's much more fast paced and less sluggish. When i play SoR Remake i configure all the combat options to be like SoR3
