I absolutely love the inspiration from 20th French impressionism. I thought that this would be boring at first, but I love this. So sad that Debussy and Ravel only made one quartet…
The idea had some merit but there was a lot of repetition for such a short quartet. Also, the textures are all very close together all the time. There's not any upper range, or dynamic range separation among the parts. The colors are thus rather homogenous throughout. The melodic voicing seems to be always is in the that low/middle range..Lastly you call these separate movements but they are all virtually the same material with no rhythmic or tempo variation throughout just a continuation of what you started with.
Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. Yeah this piece is more of one extended movement. Mostly I just focused on having interesting harmony, so yeah I agree that there isn’t really a lot of texture. Anyways thank you so much for commenting you seem super knowledgeable on this. If you have the time would you be willing to give me some feedback on another piece?
@@tikobedrosian Sure, I'd be happy to. What is it called. I'll find it on your channel if you have posted it. I have completed one string quartet myself and started a 2nd, both of which you can find on my channel. The 1st one unfortunately was using Notion 6 so forgive the playback if you happen to have a listen.
