The transformers use "convert" like all transformers packaging and media does now for legal reasons. You know "zipper" used to be a brand name? Well ir became so ubiquitous as a word to just describe the type of thing that it was that the company lost exclusive roghts to it. Hasnro is worried the same thing will happen with transformers if they admit that they transform, because then their name can be seen as a description of something they do rather than a unique identifier.
*it became exclusive *rights *Hasbro Oh, so it wasn't just a game rules thing where you couldn't play a "transform" card directly on its backside like MegatronTarantulas described? EDIT: Yeah, seems MegatronTarantulas was mistaken with that, since there are already ways cards can enter the battlefield transformed, such as with Daybound and Nightbound, and the double-sided Kamigawa Sagas.
I'm enjoying the Lore drops that have been happening in the last couple videos. I can't remember for the life of me If that's always been a thing, but by all means keep doing it!
I've always wondered, but why do so many cards from the Standard formats of the mid 2010's have ridiculous amounts of points, like Heart of Kiran, Gideon Ally of Zendikar, Scrapheap Scrounger, or Chandra Torch of Defiance? I'm pretty sure off hand all of those cards all have over 100 points from Standard alone. Were there just more events being played at the time? Better documentation?
I think a few more events were played -- but the main answer is that the format was super unhealthy. There were lots of utterly dominant decks and staples at the time. Gideon would probably get banned if it had as much of a metagame share today.
Weatherlight Compleated can be turned into a creature via the land card Mech Hangar: Pay 3 colorless, tap: target vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn. Although it basically makes Weatherlight Compleated a 5 cost 5/5 and not too good of an addition, I felt it had to be mentioned.
The cybertronian cards have "more than meets the eye" and "convert" instead of transform because you are not allowed to put transform cards onto the battlefield with the backside up, so they had to invent new terminology for it since it works differently.
Daybound/Nightbound Werewolves transform and can enter on their backs. "Convert" has always been official Transformers terminology because it is more trademarkable
Incorrect, you can already do that by having the card enter transformed (see any flipwalker, for example). The reason Transformers branding uses the term "convert" instead of "transform" has to do with some idiosyncrasies of U.S. patent/copyright law about whether a term is too generic for someone to hold exclusive rights to its use.
Huh, I wonder why they couldn't just modify the transform rules to allow for that with "More Than Meets the Eye", though? EDIT: Ah, so the game rules can indeed allow for that. Instead, it's a trademark thing that they were concerned with.
I hope one day Wizards will return Predator (that skyship that fought with Weatherlight) as a vehicle too. Maybe to add the spiciness to the card, make it that it can only be crewed by goblins (original Predator was crewed by Moggs, dominaria's goblins.)
My personal favourite legendary vehicle is the Cobra Car from Age of Empires II. That thing was magnificent. Almost as magnificent as "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!
Yeah, i Remember that! "How do you turn this on", this was the cheat code! I learned that as a child, even before understanding English enough to understand what that meant. Lovely! "Lumberjack" now I do know why it gives some wood ^^ Anyway, I love the way you always find ways to comment AND propose that weird suggestion
@@marcoottina654 My uncle taught me the AoE2 cheat codes, man those Shelby cobras were awesome. "How do you turn this on" is absolutely a core part of our history. Glad I could bring back some memories!
As someone who doesn't play MTG himself: Can crewed vehicles crew other vehicles? So lets say i have a 1/1, a 3/3 vehicle A with crew1 and a vehicle B with crew3. Can the 1/1 crew vehicle A, turn it into a creature and then vehicle A crew vehicle B?^^
Idea: top 10 of crearures that are strictly better versions of old classic creatures like Air Elemental, Serra Angel, Shivan dragon, etc .. 🤔 Maybe better version over time instead of just a regular top 10, to see the powercreep evolution 🤔
I hope well see more vehicles that just have the better stat distribution like the original release. So many 'good' vehicles have power/toughbess equal to the casting cost now which reduced a lot of the efficiency in my opinion.
Was like "wait, parhelion and chariot are this low?", then I saw heart of kiran and remembered looter scooter. edit: looter scooter isn't legendary and I am big dumb, also I apparently forgot skysovereign
God, now I really hope it just gets one more point since you seem so certain about it. The meta is about to change, after all. I mean, I think it’s unlikely it gets more top 8s too, just not impossible.
No better example of how vehicles have always been garbage, right? Ooh standard and pioneer wins… Garbage! I can’t begin to overstate how banding will never even win in limited anytime soon.
(3:09) Whoops, sounded like you stuttered there, and didn't edit that mistake out. (3:35) Yeah, I find it strange that they went with "convert" instead of "transform" for the Transformers cards. Seems fidly4 has an explanation for that though. (10:20) Another whoops: "Pioneer (45), Pioneer (49)"? That first "Pioneer" should be "Standard", I'm sure.

Is chariot so good it had to be counted in pioneer twice?
Yeah that’s what the attack trigger does right?
😝 in reality standard and pioneer. But as both values are similar... Don't makes much difference each one is each to its resume 🤔
I'm enjoying the Lore drops that have been happening in the last couple videos.

Well, it's really only doable in a video about legendary stuff
I am still waiting for an Ebony Rhino retrain to be a vehicle. It's the fastest creature in all of Homelands.
Thought for sure Reckoner Bankbuster would make the list
Edit: I somehow did not see the word 'Legendary' in the title.
Not legendary 😉
@@johanneskail492 damn I should have probably read the video title lol. Thanks.
I was also waiting for looter scooter for way to long.
3:45 copyright. transformers don't actually use the word transform to avoid them being too generic copryrightwise.
Just a little correction: The Belligerent does not just effectively draw 'a' card. She allows you to play any number of top cards until end of turn.

yeah :/
There’s only 12 non-UB Legendary Vehicles. I would’ve been surprised if there _wasn’t_ one on the list

@John_Doe974 but why call them transformers then? Didn't need more reasons to think the franchise is dumb but here we are

I guess ignoring the Transformers.
How about top 10 Legendary permanents that got retrains where the retrain was better than the original.
