Great video. The Enduro 2 is the "Ultimate" Garmin watch. But the Enduro 1 for its current price is a great deal. Both of these watches will last for at least 5 years of daily use.
I enjoy your videos as you make me laugh like the end of this video lol. I watch your reviews on things I want to know about but I do watch all of your vlogs and your podcast. Love the racing videos!! You are doing a great job on it all!
I'm a cyclist and I only need a smart watch for short runs, the gym and I want to see some HRV data and recovery. Is the Forerunner 955 a good choice or should I be looking at the Enduro 1? The Enduro 2 is not an option for me.
I invested in the Enduro 1 specifically for the long battery life, and it didn't live up to par. Somewhere during the Midstate Massive 100mile in October 2021, the watch started auto-pausing on me and I had to unlock the screen, resume the activity, then lock the screen again. I didn't think much of it until a long run in my train up to the Infinitus 100mile trail race in VT at the end of May 2021. I was having an issue with the watch lagging and then freezing on me. So I did a factory reset on the watch, thinking that would solve the problem. At Infinitus, the watch screen was locked and would start randomly pausing activity and I would have to unlock the watch, resume activity, then lock watch screen again. This started happening over and over again, so I started to watch the watch while running to see if I could pinpoint where/why it was pausing. It would also freeze the screen, preventing me from resuming activity and give me the blue Garmin triangle. I finished that race in 31hrs, still plenty of battery left, but the race data was worthless. I reached out to Garmin about this, laying out the chain of events, what I did to troubleshoot myself and that I had a 72hr race approaching in a few weeks. Garmin delayed getting back to me until the week OF the 72hr race. I stated that I could not risk not having a watch for this event. Garmin wouldn't budge. I went on to run 190miles and win the 72hr event for the men (3rd overall - my best friend won overall setting course record of 216mi) but the Enduro 1 crashed on me only 133miles into the race! For days I tried to revive the watch, but at most it would only give me the blue triangle on the screen. Then one day it completely rebooted itself. But all data was wiped clean. I had nothing to show for my 72hr race victory. I tried to follow thru with the replacement as the watch was still under warranty. Garmin, again, stalled. The label they had initiated just before the 72hr race had expired. The new one they eventually sent me had the wrong address on it. I reached out again, this time by phone, to get the correct return label. By this time, the Enduro 2 had just debuted. So I asked if Garmin would upgrade me to the Enduro 2. I paid $900 for a watch that didn't even live up to it's reputation. This cost me race data in THREE big events, the last one of which I won! I was even willing to pay the cost difference. Garmin refused and would only give me a brand new Enduro 1. I reached out a few different times to different reps, and eventually got one that agreed to upgrade me if I paid the cost difference. I agreed and we started the return. I paid the extra $18 for expedited shipping, hoping to have the Enduro 2 before I headed up to the White Mountains in NH the following weekend (this was Monday). Apparently that $18 was only to expedite the watch to me only once they received and processed the return. I sent the Enduro 1 back last Tuesday. It took the entire week to return and, according to tracking, I should receive the Enduro 2 tomorrow. This is not the first time Garmin has given me the run around. Last time (2016), my replacement Forerunner235 ended up getting delivered to Puerto Rico instead of my home in MA! The Enduro 2 will be a last chance for Garmin tracking. If I have any more issues, I'm going to look at their competitors. I hear Coros has great battery life. Have you done a video comparing different watches for ultra-endurance athletes?
Have you spoken to many others with negative Enduro 1 experiences? Was tempted to get one myself but the lagging/reboot issues seem to be fairly widespread. How has your Enduro 2 held out?
@@richt3993 I haven't come across anyone else personally who has run into same issues as me. Friends keep telling me to switch to Coros for the battery life. Same here. I actually don't care about the new features, and am kind of disappointed by the enduro 2. I was almost considering getting a second enduro 1 as a backup as the price dropped massively, but then realized that this thing is bulletproof, and even the electronics should't really degrade for over 5 years easily. Even the battery which usually degrades on most electronics barely goes through charge cycles so should technically last decades (500 charge cycles on this thing is like 40 years!)

Hey, guys need help, Need a new watch, and debating between the Enduro 1 and the 955 which will be better? Would really appriciate the comments and the help!
Hey Dave. How is the DLC coating holding on your watches? My 7X has more scratches than I'd like, after just a couple of months. I heard that the DLC coating holds better on stainless steel than titanium. Any thoughs? And thanks for the videos, helpful as always!
It seems like there's different levels of quality in the DLC. For instance the Tactix 7 seems to be more durable than the Fenix 7X... Or maybe that's just me? They're certainly durable and better than the base model finish but they're not invincible!
Thanks for the video Dave. Is the Enduro 2 now Garmins Flagship watch over the Fenix 7? I've been having a lot of GPS issues recently with my Fenix 6Pro. I've changed the settings a bunch but over 5km it's been saying around 3.8km. That's in run and in Trail. Strange though on bike mode it's been spot on. The other Strange thing is my HMR-PRO is using up a brand new battery in about 2 hours. 4 batteries tried and all the same. It says low battery on the watch and the Garmin app. So if I can't get a fix for the 6pro I'll look for a new one. 7 Pro or Enduro 2?
The Enduro 2 is just another variant of the Fenix 7. Think of it this way, the Fenix 7 is the foundation then there are "Specialty" watches that are formed on that foundation like the Tactix 7 for tactical things, and the Enduro 2 for Endurance sports/long battery life. At it's core it's still the same watch as a Fenix 7.

Too bad the Enduro isn't cheaper priced.
Too expensive for me to buy.
It is never worth paying double up on any Garmin watches.
too bla bla bla buddy..... 1/2 h video talkative time lost and almost like more or less nothing about real navigation and maps mode comparison, this is the first important feature for a garmin gps watch I think...
You do realize what you find important others might not right?
Now is the time to get in on the E1. On sale at many spots, sometimes down to half price.
Just got one for $300 USD lol bargain of the century
I wish this was true still. Enduro one is crazy expensive in Europe still. Even during black Friday 2023..
@@RallihSarl you talk about the Enduro2, not the Enduro!
Great video as always! The enduro 2 sounds really interesting.. I have a Fenix 6X sapphire. Would you say it's worth upgrading from this one to Enduro 2??
Short: yes. Long: Akku Time and Multiband rock. But. All Garmin Gear is actually overpriced. 7X and Enduro differences are very small. For that 7 is going out of price range.
They're all very similar... yes
