  • Not the best shooting night for MJ, but a well played game nonetheless. Mike finished with 29 points here, enticing the crowd with his showmanship.
    Date of game: 1/21/02

He is just the GOAT. Here he is at 39 years old schooling a prime 25 year old Kevin Garnett. Wizards Jordan could get any shot he wanted before his knee injury. It wasn't his age that but his injury that stopped the Wizards from making the playoffs

Great comment, jxn23. The broadcasters in this game actually talked about that. Apparently the Wizards were on a "20+ win pace' (compared to the year prior). Don't know if they'd have sustained that, but there's no doubt in my mind MJ would've led them to the postseason.

he definitely was the quickest 38-40 years old to play in nba (ginobili might have been a tad quicker at 40 because of his limited minutes and stacked team). this twilight version of jordan was still a superior scorer than the late prime lebron and kobe. the main problem to play almost 40 min at age of 38-40 was that he got cold after taking a breather at the bench, and yes his trash team surely didn't help much. he probably got hamilton traded for stackhouse ( my only criticism about jordan is that his biased belief of anything from unc being good) but i don't recall him shitting on hamilton in front of the media mid season, unlike you know who :)

Before his knee injury in late Feb of '02, Jordan at age 39 was averaging 25/6/6 and had the Wizards on pace for 42-45 wins (which would have been a 23-26 game improvement from the previous season); they were in the 6th playoff spot. Then he sat out for a month with the injury When you consider this was a MUCH tougher defensive league than today's NBA, you'd probably be looking at 28/6/6 for a 39 year old Jordan in today's league. Think about that.

06:55 that facial expression showed it all how competitive he was. Coach once said MJ lost a game in preseason or practice, he would just sit at the corner and not saying a word. This expression perfectly showed MJ was fierce inside about losing the game. Mentally he wanted to win, but physically he couldn’t do it like he used to. True GOAT!

He's fighting himself in his mind.
    The challenge is with himself.
He can barely seen other players.

Idk why I like this game so much from his wizards years. I'm always coming back to this highlight.
I think the dark blue looked good on him, made him look even more athletic and intimidating

It was awesome but also kind of sad seeing Jordan like this. You can tell by his expressions. He wanted more, was capable of more, but his body wouldn’t let him. Father Time is undefeated and sometimes it’s a shame we don’t last longer

What a sharp difference between LeTank who is throwing his 250lb into the paint making more than one third of his fg attempts under 3 ft for easy dunks and layup and still "his guys" in the media brag about LeBron be a more efficient scorer than MJ, weird though that MJ in is 40s was attempting "just" 70% of shots from over 10ft and still LeBron manage to have less than 1% more in fg% than MJ!
