    In my opinion the QS employability rankings are super accurate. The methodology that QS uses for calculating employment for each university is excellent.
    Times higher education also shows employment rankings but their methodology is not revealed. Many students doubt their employability ranking list.
    Love you QS😍

      UK and US education is very different from each other.

    • @Augenhose
      @Augenhose 4 года назад +2

      Depends massively at what academic level and subject direction you refer to. I am not sure how "objective" you judge, but generally speaking, you can't really say there are measurable differences in educational quality. It is more a question of the system and academic training YOU prefer. In top UK institutions, you get highly specialized training early on, hence, you are made a subject expert even at an undergraduate level. In most US institutions, you will not get to be trained a specialist early on, but rather will undergo a "general arts" approach in which the students obtain a well-rounded set of modules teaching general skills and knowledge. This difference is due to the heterogeneous nature of the US high school system so that universities attempt to bring students to a similar level in terms of general education, before going to specialist training later on. Consequently, an undergraduate qualification may really differ in terms of subject-specific knowledge, obviously favouring the UK system. However, this subject level expertise differs much less at postgraduate level (masters), where US institutions focus much more on specialization, compared to the undergraduate. Interestingly, at a PhD or research level, there is certainly no difference in approach between US and UK top universities, both will train you to the highest level of subject-specific knowledge and the qualifications are very comparable in terms of pure expertise. Personally, I would prefer the "early specialization" from the UK during undergraduate, but then move to the US for postgraduate or research as most universities have significantly better funding than in the UK, which in turn is advantageous and may reflect in research and learning conditions. Ultimately, everyone needs to decide on an individual basis which system he or she prefers. But both countries the UK and US offer by far the best education worldwide, I can absolutely guarantee you there is really not much difference in educational quality between the Russel Group and Ivy League universities (just looking at the syllabus, subject depth and rigour), ignoring subjective criteria/reputation and just focussing at pure educational standards. Finally, clearly, it depends also which ranking system you refer to. For example, QS rankings are slightly biased towards US institutions with MIT / Harvard being above Oxbridge. However, when consulting THE rankings (slightly biased towards the UK) you will find Oxbridge always above MIT / Harvard. Is that a surprising fact? No those ranking systems simply take into account slightly different criteria and hence, result in different ranks at the end of the day. My view on this is that Oxbridge and MIT / Harvard are basically identical in quality and qualifications from either place are excellent and world-leading. But if you were to ask me which institutions I would consider being equivalent, then it would be as follows (subjective view):
      MIT / Harvard = Cambridge / Oxford
      Yale / Princeton / Standford = Imperial College / UCL
      Caltech / Uni Chicago = Uni Edinburgh / Uni Manchester

      @@Augenhose which university you think is the best for each programs(law,economics,engineering,physics,mathematics...) can you name them if you don't mind?
      And there are people who say that they always put English universities just because the researchs are in English (meaning there may be universities in china or germany or japan.. deserve to be in top 10. )
      Finally, what best would you prefer qs rankings or THE ranking or US news... for the ranking of the universities.
      Thanks a lot

    • @Augenhose
      @Augenhose 4 года назад

      @@abdelouadoudelkahali6678 No I wouldn't say it is necessarily true that UK / US institutions are "just" better ranked because of English being the research language, that would be a bit too simple. Actually, it has another reason and that is two-fold.
      Reason 1) The education system: The UK / US follow a system characterized by very flat hierarchies and small class sizes that are taught by renowned professors in their fields. Let me explain. Flat hierarchies are incredibly important to "include" or "embrace" individual thinking and nurtures an atmosphere of creativity and motivates students to give their best. It also allows students to learn directly from fields experts without any barriers, often working closely connected in labs. Small class-sizes (popular index: ratio of how many students on average are instructed by 1 professor) are enormously helpful for "elite" learning. Numerous studies have consistently shown that with less people not only more material can be covered, but also more depth can be achieved. Top universities have ratios below 20 students / professor. In Germany (where I did my Bachelor's degree) both is worse, namely class size is much larger (about 100 students / professor) and it is very hierarchical. I felt that compared to my degree in the UK (Master's degree) this clearly reflected in learning. That is I learned MUCH more and on higher quality in the UK when compared to Germany.
      Reason 2) Financial budget: Unfortunately, again here US / UK institutions have a significantly better financial situation, that is they are on average better funded as institutions elsewhere. High level research requires very specific equipment such as high performance computing, lab facilities, lasers, medical equipment etc.... The idea here is if a institution has better funding, it can purchase the newest equipment and therefore, produce better research results. Another important aspect is that well-financed institutions are able to employ more renowned field specific professors. Thus, the subject expertise gained is qualitatively more valuable, because knowledge wise you are at the forefront of contemporary research.
      However, while I say that in most cases US / UK tend to have the best institutions overall, there are obviously exceptions to the rule. These exceptions however, do not relate to a countries system, but are rather attached to individual institutions. If you asked my personal opinion on which are the best Universities in the following fields I may answer this;
      - Mathematics: University of Cambridge (famous Maths Tripos, considered the most complete math education). Closely followed by Princeton.
      - Engineering: Technical University Munich (TUM), since Germany is solid in Engineering but especially TUM is particularly well funded and has a strong reputation.
      - Computer Science: Either MIT or University of Toronto. Both are pioneers in the area, with MIT being very strong in AI and Toronto being a leader in Machine Learning.
      - Physics: University of Cambridge, they have by far the most specialised, most diverse syllabus.
      - Business/Management: Either Harvard or LSE. They are strong in social sciences.
      - Economics: University of Chicago or University of Warwick. Probably with Warwick being more "mathematical" and Chicago more "political".
      - Law: Harvard clearly best.
      This would be my opinion. Ultimately, rankings are NOT important. Much more important is subject strength, financial resources and educational system in general.
      Hope it helps. Cheers !

    Exactly half of the universities shown above in the "QS top 10" never appeared in the list of QS top employability rankings. The unis ETH Zurich, Imperial, Caltech, UCL and Uni-Chicago are thrown out of the top 10 employability list. Surprisingly, "Caltech" is ranked 70+ in the world for employment by QS. The Australian unis- "USyd" and "UMelb" neither are in top 30, came out to be the highest ranked universities in the world for Employment. I believe that QS methodology used in the Subject ranking and the Employment ranking is good.

    These lists have no meaning in academics people do not take them too seriously. They are pretty much fixed by a network. Top German, Russian, Japanese, etc. Universities which have a great tradition just rarely are shown among the best. Also the number of Nobel Prize data is manufactured. Though these days there is more of politics than merit in Nobel Prizes. The University of California has received the highest Nobel Prizes. Genuine data on Nobel Prizes: www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/lists/universities.html P.S. Finally a good university is a good one and all know it. Thus ignore this list to a great degree.
