Heidi and Keisha are the longest serving members and have each worked with all but one of the members of the lineup. Without Heidi, the imperial phase of the Sugababes could never have happened.
People discredit the first line up not taking into account they were only about 15 at the time. That album relied on their vocal talent rather than image since they were under age. And it's amazing.
So many great songs! Sugababes were everything! Round Round, In The Middle, About You Know, Stronger, Shape, Overload, Too Lost In You. I could go on and on! 😍
YES ITS AN ANTHEM!!! Its my number one favourite song of them. Remember myself listening to the radio for hours just to hear this song and record it. I did twice on old cassettes and had a new one, waiting and waiting but it didnt come (but recorded another ancient jewell, a favourite song of a different girlsband, "Viva forever"). Was upset that they didnt sing it when they were guests at jesc
It seemed Sugababes as Heidi, Amelle and Jade disbanded sometime aroumd 2011/2012. I think there was criticism about the member changes and having no original members left, and sales and interest in them dwindled. I'm not sure if the record label dropped them. The original Sugababes got back together around that time but I think legally couldn't use the band name for a while. They are doing gigs at the moment.
I mean we never really heared loads of the first lineup but they had great potential. I personally think Sugababes 2.0 was the best, Heidi’s vocals were never amazing but together they were vocally solid. I still like their music a lot from the 3rd lineup but for me amelle was average vocally so only Keisha was really slaying her vocals at this time (But yeah about you know was amazing😁) Ofc as many will say, the sugababes went downhill with the 4th lineup. Tbh the only reason the sugababes were successful was because of the 2nd lineup (imho) I heard rumours last week though that the og members have reclaimed the sugababes name and are releasing music. It’s gutting that Heidi won’t be a part of it as I prefer her to Siobhán but overall I’ll just be glad to see Keisha and mutya singing again❤️
I had no idea Sugababes of the Mutya, Keisha and Heidi era had 4 number ones! I'm surprised Too Lost in You didn't reach higher as I thought it was very popular at the time. Thank you for putting this together.
I personally like the first lineup and would have liked to see where it went. That being said, the second lineup (with Heidi) made more sense from a commercial standpoint. It became more commercial pop after she joined.
It had decent airplay in the UK but it just wasn't a big seller. The album (Change) had already sold quite a lot of copies (off the back of About You Now) which I think was more important to them than single sales.
Caught in a moment & Run for cover are the most underrated songs imo. Follow me home Worked better with Mutya. I liked Freedom, but the messy break up was the last straw for many. Releasing it as a free promo probably didn’t help, it looked a bit desperate. I think they were going for a “Destiny’s Child, Survivor” comeback with it. whatever our thoughts on Keisha, she still played a key role in their success, they may have stood a better chance had they been a little more dignified with her departure and appreciative for her time with the band.
Heidi is definitely not the most least known she even got a lot of media coverage recently for the birth of her daughter. She also has the most twitter followers.
+Dennis I agree, saved them is too much. The 2nd line-up had more success because they simply ventured into a more mainstream sound still maintaining the R&B flavor of the first album. I believe Heidi was the missing ring though. Anyway, she is not the most unknown member. Jade is, as a fact nobody couldn’t care less about the final line-up. Heidi will always be as big as Mutya and Keisha and a very important piece to the group, much more important than Siobhan with no question. I appreciate the latter too, their first album was a flop but it’s undeniably good and certainly better than the group’s last two albums.
Jade was a great sugababe. She fit in perfectly why? Because sugababes was soo diverse. We all grew up seeing a ginger girl, black girls, Asian girl, white girl, Arab girl and mixed girl. They were all iconic in there own way. About a girl is a bop

The 2nd album made the Sugababes a force to be reckoned with, especially with "Freak Like Me" & "Round, Round". They kept building in strength until their peak in the 4th album imo - love all their singles from that album: "Push the Button", "Red Dress" and "Ugly". I don't like "About You Now"... I just don't know how to dance to it and there's not enough bass for a strong beat.

Why not all 6 together? I don't think there is any fight between those girls at all, and that is mainly staged. If you look at their YT channel, the original sugababes also have videos of the last 3 girls on there. The media always lies about these things.
Stronger is such a powerful song top class deserved to be a number one. Love that Siobhan is back in the band but the Heidi era was the best for the bangers. It’s great they are glowing up again.
It's all great stuff. 'Round Round', especially, has really stood the test of time. I think maybe they should re-release it in a new take with Sioban on it.
I actually liked the Keisha, Heidi & Amelle line-up the best. I'm not sure why but I never warmed up to Mutya (even if she was the best singer of all 6 Sugababes) but I always liked Amelle for some reason. Both the Change and Catfights albums are still on regular rotation for me, whereas I pretty much only listen to the singles from the other eras. Jade replacing Keisha was a step too far though, and it didn't help that the music on Sweet 7 was awful. Get Sexy must be one of the worst songs ever.

Lets all be real, Sugababes were average before Heidi Joined. The second line-up with Keisha, Mutya, and Heidi were the real Sugababes. Though the third line-up was good too.
Okay, let's all be real, starting with you admitting that the Sugababes were far, far, far above average with the entire One Touch album being their best, in terms of every single track from start to finish being great. Other albums have better singles, but none are as good from start to finish. One Touch is a classic with a unique sound that's passed the test of time. Just because they became bigger & better in many ways, doesn't mean you have to discredit/insult Siobhan & their first album. They were anything but average. If you want average, go listen to so.saying generic & commercial like Pitbull or Jason Derulo. It's your loss if you can't appreciate good music.
Guys feel free to fill me in. So the management who decided to sack keisha. IS the same management who dropped them(4th line up) after poor album sales? Is the record label the same as the management? if so, then I guess that's their way of saying,"yeah we made a mistake of letting keisha go and keeping you 2"Amelle and Heidi). In my opinion, they could've let the 2 girls go. Get mUtya back and get another Girl. COuld be Siobhan , of another blond girl or Natasha or Liz from Atomic kitten (they can sing)
It was their manager who sacked Keisha against the labels wishes. Roc Nation dropped them as a result and Island soon followed after Sweet 7 flopped. They were already close to being dropped prior to Sweet 7 anyway, hence the record label taking full control over that album but let Roc Nation foot the bill. Their manager when he kicked Keisha out or rather disolved the business and paid her off, then took over ownership of the groups name, rehired Heidi, that other girl and Jade as Sugababes. They then dropped them as a group after they couldn't get a new record deal, Mutya's replacement continued to lie to fans that they had recorded a whole new album and were still recording, when in fact they ended in 2012, Jade left and got new management, Heidi was retained by their manager for solo work, the other girl was let go, run up loads of studio fees recording an album that never got released. Their ex manager continued to block the original line up from using the Sugababes name as he owned the trademark, Keisha then applied for it and spent several years fighting him to get the name returned to her, she was awarded full ownership over the name and everything associated (website, social media, everything) in 2019, he was awarded nothing. The original line up now own their masters from London Records, they last year got the rights to their masters back from Polydor and released the lost tapes with their own funding, Island owns their catalogue that was recorded with them.
Lets be honest sugababes was ahead of their time, their first sound was what was selling in the 2010s
Facts
actually.. i was like.. "why they sound so different among the Girl Groups in 2000?"
One Touch songs would be in the 'lofi sadgirl' playlists if it was released THAT later in time (yes those are late 2010s-2020s terms)
The produce nothing. They are just the face. Thats why they simply could replace the girls like this.
The production on Overload and Run For Cover is insane. Still sounds cutting-edge.

Heidi was definitely the missing piece that completed the band the second lineup was insanely good they complimented each others voices so well
overload average? literally their most creative song
Heidi and Amelle was threatening to leave, so they had to sack Keisha.. to keep the 2 in the band.
No Can Do deserved so much better.
So obviously clear what the best line up was
