Almost done homeschooling my son who has heavy everyday migraine. He is off to his own studies this summer. It has been all good and fun and he is doing straight A´s (and for us the only option there was). Just to say it really can be done :) I used e-learning programs to get the plans for semesters to make sure he was through everything needed.
Great Job !! It’s always nice to end a year successfully !! I just wanted to share a thought .. when we did world history we themed a day or two about the country !! Flags, food, geography, currency as much or little as you like !! Haha we always did a native meal !! If you travel you can also do United Nations and embassies and the purpose !! I found it easy to make age specific .. just my 2 cents
Thank you for your video! I was feeling a little lag in my home schooling and you’ve given me enthusiasm back. My babies are young still 3,5&7 but in Uk here so 7&5 would already be undergoing weekly tests etc in primary school if the attended! Thank you for your vids 🥰 do you have a FB? Vxx
I hear you. I am all worn out, but I’m still so grateful my kids aren’t having to do testing right now. Also, I do not currently have a Facebook account.
I know your children are older! But for around 7 years old how can I teach the constitution? What was your favorite resource? Thank you!! Also any hands on works too 😊
Jane, at that age I mostly just tell stories. Stories of James Otis who sparked a fire for freedom and lost his health for it but inspired John Adams in the process, John Adams and his strict sense of justice that allowed him to both pull down a government and build up a new one, Samuel Adams and his stubborn refusal to let England overstep even an inch, the bulletproof George Washington, Patrick Henry boldly declaring we were already at war and inspiring Thomas Jefferson, James Madison whose soft spoken determination pushed the continental congress forward. Etc. etc. I wish I knew exactly where I first heard these stories. A lot came from libraries of hope, but I can’t remember the exact books. Sorry!
Jane, I know this is way late, but you inspired me so I’m creating my own constitution studies this year and posting a video of it each month. It might be a little old for a 7 year old, but I am going to talk about a lot of the stories and resources, so hopefully that will help answer your question.
So Libraries of Hope… I’ve just discovered it (and thus how I was lead to you) but it certainly is a lot to digest! The rotations… after one year do you cycle back but with fresh literature? Is it better to jump in the month that it is or start from the beginning?
@chaelener, yes, it is a bit to digest! I do cycle through each year, choosing new books each go around. You can start anywhere you want, but I would suggest starting on the month where you are for two reasons. First, it doesn’t build on itself so starting in the middle is no big deal, and second, it would be unnecessarily difficult to try to remember which month you’re working on and how long you’ve been on that month. I absolutely love that history will be taught. It’s so important to know where we come from. Great job.
@DSN It’s one of my favorite subjects. I love the stories, the courage, the foibles and the passion that shows up in history.
You are a brilliant teacher Mrs RA! Your children will be PHD's!! Have a great summer!
@Last Poet, thank you for the kind words. I hope you also have a great summer.
A good family reading book/series is the Chronicles of Narnia. I remember my mom reading the entire series to us and it really stuck with me
Yes! I love that one, thanks for the reminder.
We’re using BB for science next year as well-I’m excited to try it out 😀 Thanks for sharing!
We really enjoyed it. Especially my 12 yo. He said he felt like he learned a lot.

Well done! That is truly awesome.

That is brilliant. The labor intensive things are so fun but so intimidating!
Also being in the UK if anyone ever has any school UK questions when teaching please ask away 🇬🇧🥰 vxx
@Homeschool Ground Zero - HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!!!!!
Awesome video
Would you mind posting book names, authors and/or publishers so we can find these? Thank you!
