I was obviously wrong in thinking that one of the four souls was involved in the murders. The organization that is to blame for the innuendos, rumors, and misleading comments is the Moscow Police. The Police used subterfuge to mislead the public into thinking that the event was an isolated one and the community was safe. Thus, through their mendacity, the Moscow Police kept the people of the town in the dark. By doing so, it put them in a dangerous situation, by allowing the people to think that there was no culprit among them, thus, dropping their guard and not take safety precautions putting them in a state of vulnerability, which is the opposite of what the Police intended. The Police should have come out and proclaimed from the beginning that the town was in a dangerous situation, due to there being a killer in their midst, instead of trying to allay fears via the use of deceit.
By saying that, with the 'more truthful' information that the public has at its disposal, we now know the killer/s is still at large, and would almost certainly be dangerous.
I still do believe that it was only one killer. And, I believe, A) as I wrote below, that he (it has to be a male) is an individual who had previously approached one of the girls in the house and revealed their strong feelings for her, but the girl did not have the same feelings as him and rejected him. Because of that person's psychological state, due to the rejection, he allows the anger within him to swell up to a point of deciding to murder, not just the one person in that house that rejected him, but all four individuals. Or B) he did not approach one of the girls, but, like a true psychopath, kept constantly watching her, and by realizing he didn't have the guts to approach her, he lived in a dreamworld that one day he would be with her. Thus, via his warped sense of reality he thought she should be his. Thus the night of the murders he must have had some sense that he could never be with her and decided to commit murder instead.
Finally, I only hope the Moscow Police are more truthful in future, so the public could be safe until the evil individual who committed the murders is caught.
I think there are too many people here with kneejerk reaction opinions on the crime, which they are entitled to.
However, I will throw my hat into the ring and try to explain what I think eventuated in that house on the night in question. I might be wrong, but what's it going to cost?
We have two strong clues from the Police; 1) The crime was one of passion, and 2) There is no further threat to the community , in the vicinity of the crime.
Those two clues allow us to focus on the persons in that house, rather than an individual or two fleeing the scene and being a danger to the community at large.
If we focus on the crime of passion we arrive at two answers. Before that, let's look at what a crime of passion means.
    1) A crime of passion occurs when:
    A) a person in a relationship finds out about certain indiscretions that his or her partner has made. By that I mean sexual misconduct with at least one or more individuals. The boy/girlfriend who finds the sexual relations out decides to kill their partner and the sexual partner of their boy/girl friend
    B) An individual who had previously approached one of the people in the house and revealed their strong feelings for that person, but the person did not have the same feelings as him/her and rejected him/her. Because of that person's psychological state, due to the rejection, he/she allows the anger within him/her to swell up to a point of deciding to murder, not just the one person in that house that rejected him/her, but all four individuals.
I would think the answer in this case would be A. I believe a person in a relationship caught wind of the sexual misconduct of their partner and took deadly action.
I could only arrive to that answer because of what the police said about the threat to the community.
If it were someone on the outside of that house, who went in in the late hours and murdered all four people, he/she would either be on the run now, and the Police would be looking for him/her.
1)If that was the case the Police would not declare that the community was safe, and nothing further would occur in this case. The Police said that the killings came in "an isolated, targeted attack and there is no imminent threat to the community at large." To make that statement, The Police would be 100% certain that the killer/s is/are not a threat.
2)(Unlikely) The Police know who did it and already have the murderer/murderers under surveillance.
    3) (Less likely) The Police know that the murderers have left Idaho and are moving to another State. If that was the case, the Police in Idaho would declare that the perpetrator/perpetrators are heading for Washington State, Wyoming, or Montana, that did not happen.
That leaves us with the four souls in that house. I believe the murderer was one of them.
I think in the late hours when all four people were supposedly asleep one of the individuals went into the room of one of the other individuals and "went erotic" on each other. The boy/girl friend of the individual found out something was amiss, grabbed a knife went into the other room and killed one or two of the individuals. At that moment the fourth individual came in the room and was also attacked, however, one of the individuals grabbed the knife from the killer and stabbed the perpetrator, who died. The person who was seen walking around the house at 3 or 4 am in the morning might have been the person who killed the killer, but with a lot of blood loss eventually succumbed to his/her injuries and died. Thus, the containment within the house, where the Police declare the events happened, would point to the crime being perpetrated in a fashion similar to my thoughts.

She gets the knife stabs the gf in self defense, only to drop the knife in a scuffle, then gf picks it back up before bleeding out and then stabs her back in retaliation and then all 4 bleed to death. All because no one could talk about their feelings like adults. Makes sense.
